"My mom is doing well, the chemotherapy is having a significant effect. If they can find a suitable match next month, it shouldn't be a big problem."

Leila Bennett summarized her mother's medical condition in one sentence, then gestured for Lucy Ansley to sit down, while she herself grabbed a lounge chair, crossing her legs and sitting across from her.

The implication of an 'interrogation' was clear.

Leila's first question was, "How far have you two gotten?"

Lucy had no intention of hiding it, or rather, she couldn't hide it at all.

So, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a red booklet.

Leila gasped sharply, snatching the marriage certificate and flipping it open, feeling the urge to smack someone.

"Is it real or fake?"

Her voice was vague, and her temples pulsed.

Lucy absentmindedly replied, "Real, issued by the Civil Affairs Bureau."

Leila looked carefully at the photo on the marriage certificate. Say what you will, this hypocrite did have an impressive appearance.
