Chapter 168 - Chapter 158: On Purpose

Max Shaw didn't expect Eva Ronan to really just up and leave.

The door opened and closed, and the only sound in the cold bedroom was the man's increasingly heavy breathing from anger.

In the living room, Eva picked up her phone and went to the small garden.

No matter how awkward she felt, she still couldn't ignore the sick man.

Feeling irritable, Eva lit a cigarette, holding her phone with her shoulder, and called the family doctor.

Meanwhile, Max lay on the bed for about ten minutes, thinking Eva was really going to ignore him, a self-mocking chuckle escaping his throat as he sighed and sat up.

Did he really overestimate his importance in Eva's heart?

Max turned his head to look out at the night sky, waited a bit longer, then got out of bed and walked out of the guest room.

The living room was brightly lit but empty.

The deathly silence made him restless, as if his chest was stuffed with cotton, feeling suffocated and gloomy.
