Chapter 2 The Madan Warrior

(After midday.)
Near the Eiffel Tower, a fight breaks out between Ladybug and Catnoir against a giant praying mantis monster. Ladybug jumps backwards while facing the monster.
"What? This guy won't fall?" Ladybug asks in frustration.
"Calm down, My Lady. We'll take him down in no time." Catnoir slides under the monster and hits its legs in an attempt to knock it down.
The monster jumps back, avoiding Catnoir's attacks. The hero clicks his tongue in frustration.
"Cataclysm!" Catnoir says, a black aura appearing in his right hand. He leaps towards the monster, but the praying mantis destroys part of the ground and throws rocks towards Catnoir.
Catnoir reaches out to defend himself, but. Some stones hit the hero's hand and his power is used.
The praying mantis turns his body and hits Catnoir, sending him flying away. Ladybug leaps towards him and catches him just in time.
"What's the matter, kitten? Is he too strong for you?" Ladybug taunts Catnoir.
"What? Didn't I know he was going to do that?" Catnoir retorts while pointing at the monster.
Shinji, who had finally reached the site of the battle, was hiding in a nearby alley. He faces the two heroes and the monsters.
"What's that? And that thing, is it a Yamanga monster?" Shinji asks, surprised by the situation.
[I'm not sure, but that thing exudes a strong evil force. It's not like the Green Ghost, but it's still evil].
"Should we help?" Shinji asks, concerned for the two heroes.
[Shinji, before you get into a fight, I should tell you a few things].
Gekiryuken speaks in a serious tone. Shinji faces his protector and waits for his orders.
[At present, my power is sealed. This is so that you can fight with my help. If you used all of Ryukendo's power now, your body would collapse].
"So I'm on the first step?"
[Correct.]
~PAUSE~
"Guys, this is Alya with another fight from our famous Ladybug!" Alya was saying as she went live to record the fight between Ladybug, Catnoir and the Mantis. She was hiding in an alley while recording.
Ladybug and Catnoir continue to advance against the monster, but Catnoir seems preoccupied by the beeping of his ring. In one swift movement, the praying mantis uses its claws to hit them both and throw them against a wall.
Ladybug and Catnoir spit on impact. Catnoir looks worriedly at his ring, seeing that two of the five lights are on.
"My lady, I need to leave in a hurry, I'll be de-transforming soon." Catnoir says.
"Right, I'll hold him until you get back." Ladybug pulls herself together. She stands up and faces the monster.
Catnoir jumps onto a rooftop, de-transforms and quickly grabs a cheese and hands it to Blag.
"Quick, Blagg! Eat up!" Adrian says nervously.
"I'm doing it as fast as I can!" Blagg says as he eats.
Ladybug spins her yo-yo while facing the monster. The praying mantis comes closer to her, Ladybug prepares to attack, but before she can react, a hooded figure in a black cloak appears behind her.
The figure lunges at the monster and kicks it in the face, sending it flying away.
Ladybug is surprised to see the figure. With the hooded figure landing in front of her, she speaks to him.
"Who... who are you?" Ladybug asks reluctantly as she stares at the back of the being in front of her.
The being looks back and faces Ladybug, looking her up and down, he realizes that she is not fit to fight. "Stay there, I'll sort it out."
Ladybug is confused and worried about the being in front of her. The being puts his right hand on his waist, a strong glow appears from his hand, until he pulls out a blue sword with a golden dragon's head above the handle.
Ladybug is even more shocked to see this, and in the distance, Alya looks at the situation with excitement.
"Oh my God! Is he a new hero?" Alya said happily as she continued recording.
The hooded being lifts the golden part of the handle, making the dragon's head rise, he takes out a key and speaks. "Gekiryu Key!" He activates the key and fits it into the sword before speaking. "Activate."
[Change, Ryukendo!]
The sword begins to illuminate in a strong blue light, as the being raises the sword upwards, the monster advances against the being and tries to slash it with its claw, but before it can do so. The being lowers its sword and speaks. "Gekiryu Henshin!"
The monster is about to hit the being, but a Chinese dragon emerges from the sword and flies swiftly around it, protecting it from the attack.
Ladybug, Alya, Adrian and everyone watching live are shocked by this. The dragon soon flies up into the sky, letting out a loud roar that makes most of the city hear it, then flies down towards the hooded being.
Ladybug gets worried and tries to push the being away, seeing that the dragon was flying towards her, but before she can do so, the dragon flies into the being and is absorbed by it. In a few moments, a suit of armor forms on the being, now looking much more like a superhero.
Striking a pose, he speaks. "The dragon that is reborn with radiance will overcome darkness and eliminate evil. Awaken! Ryukendo, Raijin!" Ryukendo points his sword at the monster and faces it.
"Ryu...kendo?" Ladybug murmured in surprise at the appearance of the being in front of her.
Without hesitating, Ryukendo lunges at the monster and strikes it with his sword, causing the monster to slowly back away from Ladybug.
Ladybug was still in shock at the appearance of the new hero, and before she could think any further, her partner appeared at her side.
With a leap, Catnoir is at Ladybug's side: "There, my lady. Do you know this guy?"
"I..." Ladybug mumbles, still in shock and confusion. "I don't know..."
The Monster tries to use its right claw to attack Ryukendo, but he just hits the claw with his sword and deflects the attack. The Monster tries to use its other claw, but it too is deflected by Ryukendo's sword.
Ryukendo jumps towards the monster's chest and punches it with his free hand. It knocks him further away. Ryukendo lands on the ground and stares at his fist in surprise.
"Wow, am I that strong?" Ryukendo asks himself in surprise.
[Even with most of my powers sealed away, you still have enough capacity to beat this monster].
"That's really incredible! So that's how Ryukendo felt?" Ryukendo says, before he jumps to the side and dodges an attack from the monster. "So, Gekiryuken, what keys do I have available at the moment?" Ryukendo asks while blocking the Mantis' attacks with his sword.
[Currently, only the Transformation key, the Final key, and the Lion key].
"Beauty!" Ryukendo jumps backwards, before lunging forward, raising his sword and slashing at the mantis' claw, breaking it for good.
The monster reeled as it felt the pain of the attack. Ryukendo sees an opportunity, he advances against the monster. Landing on its head, he jumps up again. Spinning in the air, Ryukendo grabs one of the keys stored in his key-guard at his waist. He picks one up and activates it.
"Final Key!" He slots it into his sword and activates it. "Activate!"
[Final Blade!]
Spinning in the air like a sphere, Ryukendo begins to descend towards the praying mantis. The monster is surprised and frightened, but tries to land another attack on Ryukendo with its remaining claw.
"Madan Slash!" Ryukendo raises his sword, slashes the monster's other claw and hits its head. Starting to slide to the ground while slashing the monster, Ryukendo lands on the ground and puts his sword on his shoulder. "Go back where you came from, evil being."
The praying mantis splits in half, before it falls apart and a person falls to the ground unconscious.
Ryukendo is confused by the sight of a person on the ground, but before he can think any further Gekiryuken speaks.
[Ryukendo, the butterfly!]
Ryukendo sees a black butterfly flying, without hesitation he advances towards the butterfly and destroys it with a clean cut.
"What was that thing?"
[I'm not sure, but it emanated a strong evil energy].
Ryukendo becomes pensive, he turns to leave, but before he can an animated voice calls out to him.
"Hey, man! What's up!" Catnoir approaches him. "Man, that was amazing! You took your sword and went boom, well, plaf! And that final attack, wooow!"
"Forgive his recklessness." Ladybug says, also approaching Ryukendo. "And you managed to destroy that Akuma with your sword, that's really impressive."
"Akuma? So that's the name of that thing?" Ryukendo thinks as he stares at the two of them. If he wasn't someone who had seen heroes before, he would surely say that these two had gotten lost at a masquerade costume party.
"But anyway, are you a new superhero? Our sidekick? Or are you some other Akumatized?" Catnoir asked, joking about the situation.
"Oh my God!" Alya's voice came from nearby. She ran up to the three of them while pointing her camera at Ryukendo. "That was awesome, man! That blue dragon, that fight, that final attack! It was all awesome!" Alya says extremely happily. "Could I have your name?! You know, for my Blog!"
Ryukendo listens to that question, not knowing whether or not to answer. But now that he's in this world and on a mission to defeat the Green Ghost, he decides to speak up. Stowing his Gekiryuken at his waist, he turns to leave.
Alya is confused as he walks away, but before she can speak, Ryukendo turns his head and speaks. "Warrior Madan Ryukendo. Or just Ryukendo if you prefer."
Ryukendo walks away from the scene as the three of them stand there in shock and surprise.
"Well... I guess he's not much of a talker, huh?" Catnoir says, easing the tension in the room.
"Still... Ryukendo..." Ladybug looked thoughtful at the new hero who had appeared in Paris.
"So, Ladybug and Catnoir!" Alya pointed her camera at the two heroes.
"Ah, well... it's..." Ladybug didn't know what to say as she too was confused by Ryukendo's sudden appearance.
"He's our new ally!" Catnoir says excitedly. "And did you see that dragon in the sky?"
~PAUSE~
Later that day, Shinji walked back through the streets while talking to Gekiryuken.
"So the Green Ghost needs negative energy to gather strength and unleash its powers?"
[Yes, and apparently that monster made a lot of people desperate, but after his arrival at the fight their worry subsided].
"So my appearance gave them a touch of hope to beat the monster?"
[Possibly]
Shinji becomes pensive, he soon sees the same bakery he had seen earlier that day, seeing the hiring flyer is still there. He decides to see if he can get something, since he has almost nothing.
As he enters the place, Shinji smells the sweet, pleasant smell of bread in his nostrils. He looks up at the counter and sees a woman who appears to be Chinese. He approaches her and says.
"Excuse me, would you be the owner of the place?"
"Oh, actually it's me and my husband. What can I do for you, young man?" The Chinese woman with violet-blue hair spoke to him with a smile.
"Well, I saw the job advertisement outside, so I thought I could come here for the interview, you know?"
"Well, the main requirement for the job is to know how to cook, can you cook?" The woman raises a curious eyebrow.
"Yes, I do. My mother taught me to cook when I was a child."
"Well then, I'll need to contact your parents before I make a decision. Could you give me their number?"
"Ah, well..." Shinji lowers his gaze a little nervously and sadly, "I can't exactly do that because... they... they're not here anymore."
The woman looks confusedly at Shinji, but when she sees the boy's sad expression, she realizes what must have happened. "Oh my God! I'm sorry, I, I didn't know."
"No, it's okay. Don't worry about it." Shinji reassures the woman. "I'm sure they're in a better place, and that they wouldn't want to see me or other people sad about them."
The woman in front of Shinji realizes that the boy must not be lying. Taking pity on the boy, she speaks. "Well, we have a guest room available, if you want you can stay for a while while you decide what to do."
"Can I?"
"Sure, look, I'll talk to my husband and give you a job as an intermediate helper." The woman says. "I'll talk to an orphanage to find out what you can do in your situation."
"Thank you very much indeed!" Shinji bows in gratitude to the woman in front of him. "I really didn't have many options of what I could do."
"You don't need all that cordiality. Hey, raise your head." The woman indicates, Shinji obeys and faces the woman. She soon extends her hand to greet the boy. "My name is Sabine Cheng!"
Shinji smiles and extends his hand to her. "Shinji Rioji, nice to meet you."
(Next day)
"Ouch, ouch, I'm late!" Marinette rushes down the stairs, enters the living room and runs through the kitchen. Seeing three people there, she greets them. "Good morning mom, good morning dad, good morning stranger!"
Marinette grabs some bread and runs for the exit, but she stops suddenly when she notices something. "Wait." She turns and looks at the boy sitting on the sofa next to his parents. "Who... who are you?"
"That's what we wanted to talk to you about last night, but you arrived so exhausted that you didn't even hear us." Tom says, laughing at the situation.
"Well, daughter. Remember the guest room?" Sabine asks.
"The room that's reserved for visitors, but hardly anyone uses it and you've decided to turn it into a storage room?" Marinette asks, still not understanding the situation.
"Exactly, and last night we found this boy in need of help and decided to let him stay here for a while." Tom points to Shinji. "Shinji, please introduce yourself."
Shinji stands up and bows in greeting to Marinette. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Dupain Cheng. My name is Shinji Rioji, and I'm the new temporary host of the Dupain Cheng bakery."
"Ah, it's... ah, nice to... meet you." Marinette says, still confused by the situation.
"As for his situation, we're sorting a few things out. As the school year has just started, we've decided to enroll him at the Françoise Dupont College." Sabine says.
"No young person should live without finishing their studies." Tom says, confirming his wife's words. "So could you take him to the school so he can finish his registration with the principal?"
"Ah, yes... I think so..." Marinette says, but she soon remembers why she was running. "Oh my God, the timetable!"
Marinette soon starts running again.
"Ahh she's always late." Tom says with an amused sigh.
"So... what do I do?" Shinji asks confused by the situation.
"Go after her, unless you know the way to school." Sabine says laughing at him.
Shinji realizes that he doesn't know anything about the map of Paris and quickly grabs his Walkman and runs after Marinette.
"Do you think he'll be all right?" Tom asks.
"I don't know. The orphanages have no record of him, but his papers confirm that he's an orphan." Sabine sighs.
"So what do we do now?" Tom asks.
"We'll wait for the orphanage to give us an answer as to what can be done with him, since he seems to be new to Paris. It's a good thing he can speak our language." Sabine says relieved.
"You know, I've always been curious about what it was like to have a second child." Tom says, not paying much attention.
"You're not suggesting that we should adopt him, are you?" Sabine asks, curious about her husband's statement.
"It's just a possibility, there's no telling what might happen."
"Oh, dear. I don't know what I'm going to do with you."
~PAUSE~
When they arrive at the school, Marinette and Shinji enter. Shinji looks around, the school isn't as big as the one he went to in Aquebono, but it's still very beautiful.
"Well, the principal's office is just up there." Marinette points to a room in the upper wing of the school. "I'm going to my room, then we'll meet."
"All right." Shinji says and bids her farewell. He walks around the place, thinking as he goes, until Gekiryuken speaks to him.
[Are you sad that you can't see your family anymore?]
"You hit the nail on the head."
[I know it may seem difficult at first, but you'll get over it as you create new bonds].
"You talk like it's easy to make friends, but I can try."
~PAUSE~
Marinette walks into her classroom and listens to the students talking.
"Did you see that blue dragon in the sky yesterday?"
"Yeah, that was pretty cool!"
"And that video that was posted, did you see that it was that weird guy who made the dragon appear!"
"Yeah, and he even made the dragon turn into armor for him!"
"And he even fought and humiliated that Akumatized guy!"
"Man, he fought so amazingly with that sword!"
"What was his name again?"
"I remember, he said it was Ryukendo!"
"Man, what an imposing name!"
Marinette quickly sat down next to her friend, and her friend was overcome with emotion.
"Friend, have you seen the video I posted?!" Alya asks as she shows her cell phone a video of Ryukendo fighting. "I was able to watch it from the sidelines!"
"Wow, he's really impressive!" Marinette says even though she saw it up close, she still can't believe such a hero exists. Did he use a miraculous or other magical item? Marinette thought.
"Man, I never thought I'd see such a cool hero!" Nino said, excited and surprised by Ryukendo's appearance.
"Dude, but what about Ladybug and Catnoir? Aren't they impressive?" Adrian asks, but even he knows the answer well.
"They're cool, but I've never seen either of them summon a blue dragon and turn it into armor." Nino says to his friend.
"Quiet, everyone!" Professor Caline Bustier claps her hands, drawing the attention of everyone there. "I know the conversation is good, but I have an announcement to make."
"It's about the city's cool new hero Ryukendo!?" Alex asks looking extremely excited.
"Unfortunately, no." Caline says, discouraging Alex. Caline clears her throat and speaks again. "Well, now that everyone's paying attention, I'm going to make an announcement about the new student."
"New student?"
"I wonder who it is."
"I wonder if it's someone handsome."
"It's probably just another jerk who came here just to get prestige for being my classmate." Chloe says, showing off.
"Well, please. Come in and introduce yourself to the class." Caline says, indicating the door.
Shinji takes a deep breath, he begins to walk into the room as murmurs and conversations are audible. Marinette was surprised that out of so many classrooms, he was assigned here.
Shinji stands in the center of the room before speaking. "My name is Shinji Rioji. It's a pleasure to meet you and to be able to study alongside you." Shinji bows in greeting.
"Wow, how polite."
"He's already better than Chloe."
"He's kind of cute."
"Well, Shinji, pick a seat and we'll start today's lesson." Caline says, and Shinji nods.
He walks down the stairs trying to find a good place to sit.
"Hey, man! Sit here!" Nino indicates his chair, he moves to the side to make room for the boy.
"Oh, thanks." Shinji thanks him and sits down next to him.
"My name is Nino Lahiffe!" Nino holds out his hand to Shinji, and the boy shakes his hand.
"And I'm Adrian Agreste, nice to meet you." Adrian extends his hand and Shinji shakes it too.
"Shinji Rioji, nice to meet you." Shinji greets them both while smiling at them.
"Is he getting along with my Adrian yet?!" Chloe growls angrily at the new student.
"Girlfriend, I noticed the look you gave the new student. Tell me, have you ever touched your crush on Adrian?" Alya whispers, mocking her friend.
"What, of course not! He..." Marinette looks away as if she's thinking about the boy. "He's just the new host at my parents' bakery."
"So your parents are finally going to use that guest room? It's about time." Alya says with a wry smile.
From Marinette's bag, a small red creature that looked like a ladybug poked its head out. Tikki stares at the new student in front of her, she doesn't quite know why, but this boy exudes an aura of light. An aura completely opposite to Hawk Moth's.
