"Son are you going to do this?" she asked him
"Mom please this is the last thing that I need right now, Jane's in a coma I need to be here for her" he interjected
"but she's just your maid, you can hire a nurse for her if you care about her that much, you can't just abandon the company and come sit here babysitting a full-grown adult, Williams says something, this is getting out of hand" she complained
"Dad you have nothing to worry about concerning the company, Jack is there and I already spoke to Kyle he will be back from school next week, he will take over on my behalf" he explained to them
"What! So you are planning on continuing this madness till she wakes up?" Maria shouted at him
"yes Mom and I think you should all leave now, you are making so much noise, she needs to rest," Chris said
"But Jane needs you as well, she's the reason I'm at the house, we need to be together so she can get well soon" Angel was the one who spoke
Hearing her speak, Grace could not help but roll her eyes
"since when did you start caring about the child, like you even care, if you are so disturbed you can get a room here in the hospital too and stay there but for now I need you to get out of this room now" he replied her without even taking a look at her
"Jack talked to the police as well as Anthony telling him to abandon the work at hand and investigate what happened yesterday, Jane was shot, it was attempted murder and I'm afraid that I was the target, tell him to find the person as soon as possible he has just three days to do that" he gave out the instructions to him and Jack stood up
"yes sir I will get to it right away" he said and left the office
Angel's eyes could not help but widen in shock her expression and demeanour changed instantly she couldn't believe that Chris was going to investigate what happened, she and her father were both in deep trouble, what if they found them out she thought she better let her father on about what's going on
"I will also make some contacts and help with the investigation; we have to get to the bottom of this", Williams assured him and gave him his support.
He already knows how much Jane means to his son, he has felt this way before and he can tell how much it hurts to lose someone that you love so much, he's still battling with the aftermath all these years
"thank you, Dad," he said
"It's fine, I'm your father and I hate to see you like this, Jane will be fine, that I'm so sure of" Williams patted his shoulder
She had better wake up and be fine, he thought he could not imagine living his life at this point without her
"Grace did you check on the kids when you got home?" he asked her
"yes, I did, but they already left for school; I will go check on them in the afternoon,", she said, and Chris nodded.
Mrs Whitney just finished preparing breakfast she's expecting Jane, Chris and her boss to come today, they were supposed to come last week but Jane called that they will not be able to make it, she hopes that they will be able to make it today
She really misses Jane and especially her grandson, she misses his noise, voice and everything about him
She was still deep in thought when the knock on the door intruded her thoughts
She went ahead and opened the door only to find Zain at the door, she had not seen much of him ever since Jane left, she only saw him around once in a while
"hello Zain how are you doing today?" she greeted him
"Mrs Whitney have you seen the news this morning?" he asked her
"no I have not I have been busy in the kitchen since morning, is anything the problem?" she asked him seeing his reaction
"hmm hm" Zain started to stammer, he didn't know how to start explaining to her that Jane was shot and she was being hospitalized at the moment
He had seen the news this morning, it's the video that's making rounds online where Chris was seen crying with Jane in his hands, reports say that she was shot but Chris nor the family has not come out to say anything
But he had come here to ask if she knew anything she seemed calm so that could only mean that she had not heard
"Zain please say something you are starting to scare me" she said
"uhhmm I saw it in the news that Jane was shot and she's in the hospital currently so I was wondering if you knew the hospital that she is so we can go there together" Zain finally said
"what! Jane was what?" Mrs Whitney grabbed Zain almost collapsing on his body
"Mrs Whitney, I need you to calm down; the news has not been confirmed yet. It might just be a rumour, but we just need to call and be sure", Zain pacified her.
Ever since what happened between Jane and him at the company he has not had the nerve to call her so he couldn't do that today as well
Mrs Whitney quickly went into her room to get her phone, she quickly put a call through to Jane's phone hoping that someone would pick up it
Grace was still in the room with Chris and Jane, she had refused to go out cause she was avoiding Mike but her parents and Granny were at the reception, suddenly she heard a phone ring, it was not hers
Chris was busy on his laptop, and his phone was with him as well, she checked, and it was not his phone either, it must be Jane's phone she thought she quickly went to the wardrobe to look for the phone.
