Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A Bowl of Chicken Soup_1

Su Bei closed his eyes in some despair.

He tried not to look at that despicable face hastily flying towards him.

Then he sighed softly, looking at Xiao Ruoching in his arms, who was completely drunk.

To have taken on such a brainless disciple is one thing… but why do I also have this Junior Brother whose brain seems to be filled with nothing but alcohol?

Above No-Sword Peak, Jun Wuxie looked at Su Bei with an expectant expression, then executed a stylish mid-air turn and landed on the ground.

He sniffed hard and frowned, asking, "Fifth Senior Brother, why is there such a strong smell of alcohol? Did you drink secretly behind my back?"

Jun Wuxie then blinked at Su Bei, rubbing his hands together and patting the wine jar in his hands forcefully.

Su Bei looked expressionlessly at Jun Wuxie. Xiao Ruoching, in his arms, seemed to hear the BANG BANG BANG sound from the jar Jun Wuxie was patting.

She frowned, let out a soft groan, found a very comfortable position in Su Bei's arms, and smacked her lips.

SMACK. SMACK.

Hearing the noise, Jun Wuxie finally noticed the woman in Su Bei's arms, a knowing expression appearing on his face. "Tsk, tsk, tsk, I didn't expect Fifth Senior Brother to be into this sort of thing… Although this Junior Brother really wants to turn around right now and not disturb Senior Brother's business, the craving for wine is simply tormenting me. So, where is that Life Water that's said to intoxicate three thousand gods and buddhas?"

Su Bei gestured with his chin towards the empty bottle on the table and said, "It was a full bottle, but this disciple of mine drank it, didn't she? I had just come back to find her drunk like this."

Jun Wuxie's color drained from his face. He then looked at Su Bei indignantly and exclaimed, "Fifth Senior Brother, if you don't want to give it to your Junior Brother, just say so directly! Why do you need to come up with such a blunt, brainless excuse? Your disciple, if she has any sense at all, would be able to smell that it's alcohol. And if I'm not mistaken, this is the new female disciple you just accepted, right? How could a disciple who has just started her apprenticeship dare to touch her Master's things? You just don't want to give it to me! You're going back on your word! Perhaps this passed-out female disciple is some new trick you want to try, and you intend to taste..."

Su Bei rolled his eyes, too lazy to bother with Jun Wuxie. Holding Xiao Ruoching, he started walking towards the thatched cottage.

After all, in the eyes of an idiot, anything I do would be seen as me making excuses. Did I really need to tell him that as soon as I returned, I found my disciple drunk and grinning, casually adding laxatives to a large iron pot of chicken soup she was holding?

Seeing Su Bei offer no explanation, Jun Wuxie snorted coldly.

He then slammed the wine jar in his hand hard onto the ground and said viciously, "Fifth Senior Brother! I never expected you to be this kind of person! I've truly seen your true colors today! You are petty, disgusting, utterly shameless, venomous-hearted, deceitful, and thoroughly despicable…"

Su Bei shrugged, feeling the soft, warm body squirming in his arms and the jade-like arm tightening around his neck. He sneered, "My disciple drank it. Believe it or not, the wine is gone. You can leave now. And I wonder who it was that lay on the ground pretending to be dead just because Eldest Senior Sister scared him a little."

Jun Wuxie glared at Su Bei. Then, under Su Bei's watchful gaze, he snatched the small, completely empty bottle from the table and greedily sniffed it.

"Ah! Truly fragrant!"

His face was a picture of utter intoxication.

Suddenly!

A bowl of chicken soup—looking absolutely delicious, with perfect color and a faint, enticing aroma—came into Jun Wuxie's view.

It gleamed with an irresistible luster!

And there, lying serenely right in the center of the bowl, having supposedly endured countless tribulations, was a chicken rump.

Jun Wuxie hurried over, closely examining the bowl of chicken soup, especially the somewhat reddened chicken rump.

He then gasped, exclaiming in shock, "This... this is Phoenix Feather Chicken!"

Has Senior Brother actually become so extravagant as to use such a divine ingredient for soup? Damn it! He clearly promised to give me that bottle of Life Water, the one said to intoxicate three thousand gods and buddhas! How could he go back on his word like that? Absolutely unforgivable! Since you're heartless, Senior Brother, don't blame this Junior Brother for being ruthless!

At this thought, a cold sneer touched Jun Wuxie's lips, and the next moment, he snatched up the bowl of chicken soup from the table.

Su Bei had already turned away when he suddenly heard the quick movement of Jun Wuxie picking up the chicken soup.

He hastily spun back around, saw the chicken soup in Jun Wuxie's hands, and couldn't help but exclaim, "Junior Brother, don't—"

Jun Wuxie looked smugly at Su Bei, holding the chicken soup tightly. "Heh heh, Senior Brother!" he said. "You have such a divine item and you didn't tell your Junior Brother? You were probably planning to secretly drink this bowl of chicken soup yourself, weren't you? Since you've hidden away that Life Water, you won't mind if your Junior Brother drinks this soup, right?"

Su Bei stared at Jun Wuxie in shock, swallowed hard, and stammered, "Junior Brother, no, this chicken soup…"

Unfortunately, before he could finish, Jun Wuxie cut him off.

He inhaled the chicken soup's aroma with a look of ecstasy, his eyes fixed arrogantly on Su Bei. "Not what?" he challenged. "Fifth Senior Brother, your Junior Brother knows this soup was stewed from a Phoenix Feather Chicken! Heh, it must have taken the essence of an entire chicken to produce just one bowl like this."

Su Bei opened his mouth, watching the chicken soup get closer and closer to Jun Wuxie's lips. He tried again, "No, Junior Brother… you can't drink this soup…"

Jun Wuxie sneered. Looking at Su Bei, he brought the chicken soup to his nose, took a deep, deliberate sniff, and declared loudly, "Can't drink it? Senior Brother, I never thought you were this kind of person! It was bad enough that you hid the Life Water, but now you're trying to keep this soup to yourself too? If I hadn't been observant and spotted this dazzling Phoenix Feather Chicken soup, you would have secretly drunk it all by yourself long ago! Raising a chicken for fifty long years, planning to eat it, only to have someone else snatch it away at the last moment—that doesn't feel good, does it? Don't blame your Junior Brother for being heartless and cruel! Today, I *am* going to drink this chicken soup! I want you to experience what it feels like to have something you've longed for destroyed by someone else!"

The moment his words fell, Jun Wuxie, quick as lightning, threw his head back, opened his mouth, and drained the entire bowl of chicken soup in one gulp.

Closing his eyes, he smacked his lips contentedly. The wonderful taste of Phoenix Feather Chicken filled his mouth.

Then, he slammed the empty bowl, now without a single drop remaining, hard onto the table. Looking challengingly at Su Bei, he remarked, "Tsk, tsk, what a delightful thing it is to drink chicken soup. Senior Brother, this chicken soup you stewed is truly excellent!"
