Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: Big Mission

Will's expression hardened.

[Mind Boost]

"Yes? What can I do for you?" He asked calmly. Though inwardly, he was panicking.

Why the fuck would the X men approach him? He was still thinking of what to do with the potential chaos that might erupt due to the recent political situation. But he didn't expect to be approached first!

'I didn't do something to provoke them, did I?'

'Fuck, so it really was Professor X who tried to probe my mind that time!'

'What the fuck does he want?!'

Judging from their guarded expressions, they did not look friendly.

"Hi, we're from the Xavier's Institute of Gifted children. Can we talk alone for a moment?"

"Ah, I'm a bit preoccupied right now, can you just email me later?"

said Will, trying to step past them, but Scott, aka, the cyclops, blocked his way. "I'm afraid this is important," he said sternly.

Jessica stepped forward, but Will stopped her with his hands.

"Do you guys not know who I am?"

"Whoever you are, we really don't care. You just need to listen to us first," Scott continued to press.

Will was annoyed at first, but then he realized.

Wait. Do they really fucking not know?

He was used to receiving the Osborn, rich, or genius treatment, but these guys gave him none of that.

They mostly seem on and vary of him, as if he'd attack any second now.

Besides, [Dumbest Disguise] was active, and he was wearing a psychic blocker. They shouldn't be able to recognize him.

"What the matter? Speak quickly."

"We need to talk alone." Scott looked at Jessica, but Will put a hand on her shoulder.

"She stays."

"Don't blame us then. Jean, go on and tell him." Scott shrugged. "We really don't have time to be dealing with him."

"But, wouldn't he regret it if the girl knows? It's not a small matter after all."

"Let him regret it. We already warned him."

Will's [Mind Boost] was not for show. Compiling all the facts and observation, he quickly came up with an absurd conclusion that made him hope very much that he was wrong.

"Wait, you guys don't think I'm a mutant, do you?"

The fact that they knew his location despite not knowing his identity, and Professor X's unexpected mind probe… it all points to the possibility that they might be able to sense him.

Their reactions made his heart sink. It really seems that this is the case.

"You already know?" Storm asked in surprise.

"Has someone from the brotherhood already contacted you?" Cyclops asked.

"No, but I know about you, Dr. Jean Grey. You were destroyed at the conference."

Scott bristled at that. "Careful with what you say," he warned.

This was the third time Scott had been rude to him.

'Fuck. You guys came to me and still have to be so rude? Can a guy not have basic respect if he's not a Billionaire?'

"Now, can you guys please state your purpose?"

"We have discovered that you might be a mutant. Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters is a place that has many others like you. We would like to invite you," said Jean.

"Sorry, not interested."

"But your powers are growing very quickly. At this rate, you might be a danger to yourself and others. And dangerous groups might also come after you."

Will paused. That might be a problem.

"How did you guys manage to sense me?" He asked. He was definitely not a mutant. And even Jean's words were: you might be a mutant.

"All mutants emit a certain frequency psionic energy signature that is detectable. Your case… is a bit different, but your energy is still detectable."

'F…'

Will sighed. It seems that he was in trouble.

He had the tech that can prevent intrusion into his mind. But there's nothing that can block his energy signature.

This is a huge problem. Other groups like Brotherhood, or Mutant experimentation organisations might come after him.

And if it was leaked that William Osborn was a mutant, he would be done for. Just the Aura loss was not something he was willing to bear.

"It seems that you have understood your situation. Let me introduce us formally. I'm Dr. Jean Grey, this is Scott Summers, and this is Ororo Munroe. We're mutants who teach at the Xavier's Academy of Gifted Youngsters. Can I know your name?"

'They really don't know.'

It seems that [Iron Will] really did manage to block his mind from Professor Xavier's probe. He's also a bit glad Xavier didn't use much force back then. It means that Will's identity is safe.

"Harry Parker. Just an ordinary guy," said Will, shaking the offered hand.

He didn't think it would be useful so soon.

"So, would you like to come to our institute? We can at least help you block the frequency. After all, you are a very unique case, which is bound to attract bad attention.

"I—"

Will wasn't very willing. Because X men were really troublesome.

[Mission Generated]

[Due to the Upcoming UN Summit, Chaos is bound to occur which might break the balance between humans and mutants. Stop the potential Human-Mutant war while farming as much Aura as Possible]

Fuck!

Will didn't like this. Not one bit.

"I am willing to visit." But his mouth was still honest.

This was a big event. Will can't let this aura farming go to waste.

"But I'm not joining your institute. Just help me block this detection and confirm I'm stable. I'll leave then."

Jean smiled while Storm and Cyclops finally relaxed their guard. It seems they really were expecting a fight just now.

"Great decision. We'll definitely help you block your psionic energy signature. You can leave any time you want."

Will shrugged. "Aight. Let me get my things from the car first. I also have some explaining to do," he said, glancing at Jessica.

"Of course."

Will took out his keys and pressed a button. Among the sea of cars, a supercar suddenly started to transform, turning into a normal sedan.

If the X men saw his car, his cover would be blown.

"So, you're a mutant?" Jessica asked after they were out of ear shot. But the three x men were still tailed them from a distance. "And were they also mutants?"

"That seems to be the case," said Will, but on his phone, quickly typed something else.

Will: 'I'm not a mutant. They think I might be due to the powers.'

Jessica also took out her phone and messaged him. "So how long will you be gone?"

What she typed on the phone: 'Isn't going with them dangerous? What if they experiment on you?'

"I don't know, maybe as long as the detection is blocked."

Will: 'I have no choice. They are the best among the people who are going to come after me next. And they have the tech and research. I need to block the detection before someone figures out I'm William Osborn so I need their help.'

"Well, try to come back soon. I'll call authorities if you stop contacting me."

Jessica: What if they found out you used a fake name?

Will took out his id that he had used to get entry into the concert. The name clearly read, Harry Parker.

Will: The identity is actually real, approved by the government. It's one of my alt accounts.

"Don't worry. It's 2007. Who just kidnaps people like that anymore?"

They finally reached Will's modified supercar, which was also in disguise.

Will opened the trunk and took out a stylish white and green backpack. He also took out a skateboard with a cool graffiti of White Knight.

This was the set up of White Knight Mark II, fresh out of the lab.

He tossed the car keys to Jessica. "Take it to the company."

Jessica was suddenly flustered. "I don't know how to drive!"

"It can drive itself."

Will put down his skateboard and made his way over to the mutants.

"Well? Where's our ride?"

The X men exchanged glances, as if finding the situation too easy.

They led him away from the stadium, into the nearby woods. Scott raised his hand and the area in front of them flickered, before an obsidian black sleek looking fighter jet appeared in their vision.

Will whistled.

"I am already starting to not regret my decision."

That got a smile from Jean and Scott also looked a bit smug.

The jet resembled the legendary SR-71 Blackbird, but refined, leaner and deadlier… with wing edges folding in segmented arcs and a nose that tapered like a blade.

Along its skin, faint seams hinted at cloaking emitters and modular weapon bays, though to the untrained eye it looked unarmed. The X symbol, matte silver against the dark fuselage, was the only flourish

Will decided he also needed to steal some tech on this mission.

As a Billionaire, if you don't travel in a beauty like this, it's really a shame.

They went in and the interior was even better, having the state of the art tech installed inside.

As the fighter jet took off, Jean turned her attention to Will, who was observing the jet with great interest.

"So Harry, was that girl your girlfriend?"

"Nope, just a friend. She's a fan of Britney Spears so I took her with me."

"Just a friend?" Jean raised an eyebrow, feigning interest. "But she seems to like you a lot."

"How can you tell? Do you have psychic powers?" Will asked jokingly.

"Actually, I do. But that's not how I know. After all, you guys are wearing some equipment that's blocking it."

Will paused. He knew she was trying to make him flustered, to fish for more information.

"Well, that means you have been trying to peek into our minds. Don't you think that's wrong?"

"I'm sorry. I was just—"

"Sorry won't cut it. Just tell me how you're going to compensate me," said Will with a teasing smile.

Jean was a bit stumped.

"She just wanted to know if you were a threat. Besides, it's her powers. She can use it however she wants," said Scott.

Well, someone is a big simp.

"Well, if you have the power to peek into any girl's skirt, would you do it just because you want to?" Will retorted. "Does this also mean that mutants can use their powers as they want?"

That's the thing with simps. They really have no principles when it comes to the girl they simp for.

"It's not the same!"

"Scott, shut up please. You just are making a terrible first impression," said Storm, sighing. "He's just dodging our questions."

Thankfully, the X men left him alone after that, allowing him to pass down some instructions to Brock.

"How is Rogue doing?" Storm asked after a brief silence.

"She seems to be adapting well, all things considered. She has a good bond with Logan," said Jean.

Listening to this conversation, Will's ears pricked up. So, it really was the plot of X men.

"The question is, will Logan stay?" Storm mused. "He's like an untamed beast."

"I think he will. Logan is wild, but he seems… kind." said Jean.

"You seem to have a really good impression like him," said Scott in an annoyed tone. "You were also flirting with him last night."

"Scott, you have to stop getting jealous over every guy I remotely talk with," said Jean, sounding annoyed.

"See? That's why I don't like to have a relationship. It just brings endless troubles," Will interjected in the awkward silence. "Who was that woman? Why were you looking at her? Why did you smile at her? Where are you going? I mean, can a person not even have a free will?"

"This does not concern you!" Scott snarled, thoroughly embarrassed at being exposed like this by an outsider.

"Dude, I'm only speaking for your own good. Try to get a life, and let her have one as well. No one likes a clingy and obsessive partner."

Scott's visors had started to glow a little.

"I swear if you didn't shut up right now—"

"Stop it, Scott! You really are embarrassing yourself too much," said Jean.

"Are you actually taking this guy's side?!"

"I didn't say that!"

"But you did think of me like he said! Do I not have a life?!"

Listening to their fight, Will finally relaxed into his seat. Scott in the movies was really insufferable. He had managed to offend Will in just a small time after their first meeting.

That's why it was so easy to incite an argument between him and Jean.

Well, here's a little payback for being rude for no reason.

As the couple, ex-couple, or even X-couple argued in the front seats, Storm looked at Will who was sitting beside her and frowned in displeasure.

…

When they finally reached the X mansion, Scott and Jean had argued to the point of not talking to each other.

But when they found several students outside, looking around with search lights, everyone, including Will, became serious.

As soon as the door opened, the wind blew and Storm quickly flew over to investigate, Jean and Scott following right behind.

"What happened?!"

"It's Rogue! She's missing!"

'Fuck.'
