Sayaka has just finished watching Varun beat Mary, the best gambler in her class. The way he analyzed what was happening and deduced her patterns intrigued her. The president's phone rang as she is thinking.
"Hello Miss president " Sayaka replied.
"Hello, Sayaka, did you miss me? " Kirari replied on a phone.
"O-Of c-course madam president " Sayaka replied.
"Good how are things running " Kirari asked laughing a bit.
"Going as normal, except " Sayaka replied
"Except? " Kirari replied
"Except the transfer student that has arrived " Sayaka answered.
"The boy or the girl? I remember reading about two transfer students " Kirari told her.
"The boy " Sayaka answered
"How is he? " Kirari asked.
"Amazing so far. He showed up just today and has already beaten Mary Saotome. The most skilled gambler in the class. He quickly analyzed what she was doing to win, and used her overconfidence to win against her. He owns five million money from her. Though I suspect this is merely a beginning of his gambling skills " Sayaka told Kirari.
"Sounds impressive, I would like to meet him. Give him a week and see how he does. I have a feeling he will come after us soon. I assume he now has a cute blonde pet cat? " Kirari asked.
"Yes, it seems so Madam president " Sayaka answered.
And Kirari has finished the phone call.
3rd POV
The Hyakkou Private Academy. Established 122 years ago, it prides itself on its traditions and social status. But this prestigious school maintains a stringent hierarchy, in which rank is decided not by academic or sporting ability...But purely on gambling success.
Most students get caught up in winning and losing, in the luck skill of the betting. And most struggle. But Varun has recently discovered that it is possible for someone to gamble not for money or fame, but purely for its own sake.
Varun Sharma, ever since he has entered into this academy, gambling has steadily become more and more innovative and hardcore versions.
Varun is in throes of a tantalizing gamble. He had played a lot of gambling just for pieces of information, favors, and to test his skills. In the other matches that is a different case, in which he is leeching off the cash like a leech. One big victory is enough for him, which will compensate for the little losses he had earlier.
It has been over a week since Varun has arrived at Hyakkou and he is pretty much enjoying his time here. He had been on a long undefeated streak of winning games ever since he has gotten here. A couple of games had been close, but not anything worth worrying about, he still won them in the end.
Whatever games he loses, he compensates with a big win. It's like he is made to make win streaks in gambling.
Mary and Suzui have been following him around, and they pretty much became his acquaintances. They have always his games. Mary on the other hand managed to earn his money and lose her housepet status, but she quickly lost in another game to Yumeko jabami due to her overconfidence.
Suzui, was constantly warning Varun that all his gamblings and winnings would earn student council attention. Varun on the other never bothered about the student council, who are them to stop his fun time. Varun had won a combined amount of forty hundred seventy million yen from these egotistical students.
Varun POV
Student council, I wonder how gambling against them will be.
Surely that would have made themselves known by now if they showed any interest in me, oh well!
On the other hand, I don't know if it was student council or not. But I can see someone has indeed shown interest in me.
It was a girl with fairly average height and long silverish white hair. She wore a regular uniform. As for her face,it is covered by a smiling theatrical mask. I caught her shadowing me, I did catch sight of her out of my vision and she completely disappeared. That is weird. She felt familiar, but I wonder why the vice president is stalking me.
It is truly a wonder how things will run here.
The student council's new member, Itsuki Sumeragi has managed to convince me to play a gambling match. She is the daughter of the largest toy company in Japan. Itsuki showed excitement trying to gamble me, treating me as a fresh target.
Maybe I could gather up info from her, about the student council.
During lunchtime, She followed me and managed to invite me to gamble with her, while Ryota tried to halt me from Gambling, I wanted to gamble and accepted her gambling invitation.
She invites me to play a game of 'Double Concentration' in which the rules are fairly simple. 2 decks of cards will be used, making a total of 104 cards. Each player must flip two cards of their choice in their turn. If the flip pair of matching cards are the same suit and number, they gain 2 points, and flipped cards have to remain open. For our match, Itsuki places down 20 irregular colored chips which are worth 1 million yen each, making it a total of 20 million yen. For the betting, Itsuki uses all the 20 million worth of chips, making their bet 20 million.
I placed down 2 chips. To observe her behavior and her pattern, so I am going easy the first time.
"Ok, senpai...You are really hesitating don't you...don't worry It will be fine " She replied to me trying to reassure me with that fake friendly tone. Which anyone can tell.
"OK" I replied to her.
Then, we begin to play. She wins the first round, even though both of us have a great memory. She flashes a bit when she placed them, she thinks I haven't noticed that yet. She has also placed them exactly how she placed them in the first round. I am going all out, can't give her any opportunity here.
we betted 15 chips in the second round, she too placed 15 chips.
"Senpai, you are really bold " She replied.
I picked up each card pair, 26 times, without giving her a turn, making her taken aback by surprise.
She has formed a really disturbing smile on her face, it's clear she is panicking now.
"HOW DID YOU GUESS ALL OF THAT, YOU ARE CHEATING " She replied.
"You are the one who has placed all of the cards, how can I cheat in this game? You have placed the cards in the exact order " I replied to her shutting her off.
She is silenced and in the next round she has placed the cards differently this time, but the cards flashed giving me clear pairs.
I had decided to all out, and placed 15 chips this time. She was taken aback and said " I don't have enough chips this time " She replied.
"Oh, why don't you bet your fingernails this time " I replied to her.
She fawned how she liked my fingernails earlier, so let's test it.
"That's not a funny joke, senpai " She replied.
"Oh! I was not joking. In fact, let's bet our fingernails this time. " I replied to her.
She has really become insane by that and started crying to leave me alone. But still, I wanted to finish our match, so I convinced her.
During the third round, I won by pairing out the flashing cards and has memorized the cards, making me the winner of 20 million yen and Itsuki nails as a fine collection to my addition. I guess I have a girl's nails by my side. Maybe I should start collecting a girl's fingernails as a tribute to her.
As I suggest ripping Itsuki's nails out, she cries. After her loss, little did I know, she was expelled from the student council.
