Chapter 113 - Chapter 113

Trixy and her brother spent the entire night using their powers to protect their princess and the little one to come, knowing that their birth would bring about changes she hoped they would be able to adapt to. Having Sam here, lending his strength, was important; she only hopes that it is not seen as betrayal or abandonment of his post or his duties. Even though she grew weary as the time went on, they knew the moment the little one entered the world. It was as if his very physical presence shifted things, and the blue-black swirls receded. She wished she could have followed it, hoping it would lead to the source, but she dared not let down her guard for a moment.

Bruno was filled with his own thoughts. He was focused, somehow knowing what to do to give his twin the support she needed. He was even glad that his brother-in-law was here as well, for his strength and his bond with Trixy made it easier to find Annalise, erect a barrier that not only protects but also breaks whatever spells or chants that were used to keep her tracks hidden and maintain it. As his job was more supportive, his mind had the freedom to wander, and it kept drifting back to the little omega he met. Candice was her name. Something about her kept pulling him, and he wondered if she was the reason why he had been feeling a pain in his chest. It was never painful, just uncomfortable, a reminder that there was something out there for him to find. Could it have been her? He wondered if that was the reason he never fully felt at home in Goldmoon. Not to be ungrateful, and not to mock the time he spent with the warriors, he just never felt like this was it, but the moment he saw in the crowd beneath him as he hid in a tree. She was so short, only her head could be seen, but when he heard her voice for the first time, he almost lost his balance, something that had never happened, no matter how much the circumstances might have changed in the moment. Her voice was lovely to his ears, even as her words cut him like a knife. She was with James, intimately, on many occasions. So much that she thought that gave her the right to become the Luna of their pack. He glanced around and saw a few of the men of Bloodmoon shake their heads in disgust, some in regret. Wait, did she sleep with them too?

His thought came back to him as he felt Trixy's power begin to wane. He glanced up to see that the sun was already in the sky, probably around eight or nine. He looked at his sister, making eye contact before the last of her powers dispersed and her eyes fluttered close, her body slumping. He reached out to grab her, but Sam was quicker, catching her before she even fell to her knees. He could sense his worry, as he placed on hand beneath her nose. Sam exhaled as he felt the tiny whisp of breath. He sank to his knees, cradling his mate as she rested safely in his arms. He felt drained, like most of his life was sucked out of him, but he was sure it was nothing to what Trixy had to endure to ward off that strange mist that no one else saw. He knew he needed to report to his Alpha, but right now, Trixy came first. He stood up, cradling her in his arms and began walking, hoping that the members of either pack were close by.

Bruno came up next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Wait, I have a better way. Where do you want to take her?" Sam paused, torn between wanting to report his finding to his Alpha and wanting to take care of his mate. "Maybe we should find Dr. Lornezo. I want to make sure that she's alright." Bruno nodded and closed his eyes, his hands still on Sam's shoulder. "I need you to think of the doctor in great detail. I may not be able to transport us directly in front of him, but we will be within a few feet". Sam nodded, tightening his grip on Trixy, closed his eyes and thought of the doctor. In a few moments, he felt like his body began to float, but he kept his eyes closed, keeping Lorenzo front and centre in his mind. Soon, he could feel the earth beneath him again, and opening his eyes, he blinked as he saw that they were in Bloodmoon. He turned to thank Bruno, but he had collapsed next to him, probably drained of his power as well. Sam knelt down, doing the same to him as he did to his sister, and once he confirmed that Bruno was just unconscious, he sighed in relief. He yelled for someone to help him, and as he saw people rush out of the house, his vision began to blur, and soon he was out as well.

He woke up some hours later, laying on abed in he guessed one of the guest rooms in James's pack house. He turned, his entore body feeling like he got the beating of his life. His eyes rested on Trixy laying next to him, her breathing soft and steady, making him release a breath he didn't know he held. His eyes moved over the room, wondering if Bruno was close by. He raised his hand but it fell back at his side. He had no strenght, feeling as if he could sleep for a month. A soft knock sounded and he slowly turned toward the door. Lorenzo peeked in ans when he saw that Sam was awake, he stepped in, a smile on his lips. He walked over to Trixy, checking on her I.V. line, and making some notes on her chart. When he was done, he came over to Sam's side of the bed. "Well, Beta, how are you feeling and why are you and your mate so depleated?"

Sam swallowed, feeling like his tongue was twice it's size. He licked his lips, and the doctor reached for a bottle of water nearby. Sam tried to reach for it, his arms being uncoorpetarive. He felt like a baby ans it fustrated him. Lorenzo chuckled, opened the bottle and leaning forward, helped him raise his head so he could take a drink. The water was cool and soothing to his throat, and he drank greedily. He's never felt so thirsty in his life. When the bottle was empty, Lorenzo laid him back down, and Sam closed his eyes in relief. He swallowed again, "Thanks doc." His voice was horse, but stronger than his first attempt. Lornezo nodded. "I think I should let you rest some more. Your mate seems fine, jsut extremely tired, like yourself, although I bet she needs more rest. Her twin is in the next room, sleeping." Sam nodded, glad for the info. Lorenzo turned to leave, but at the door he stopped. "Oh, just tolet you know that Trishanna had her pup last night. It's a boy, so as soon as you are able, you should make yourself available as the BEta to meet him. I'll let Alpha know that you're awake." Sam nodded agian, decideing to reserve his strenght. He leaned back closing his eyes, happy that his Luna gave birth safely and now they have their newest member. He turned to his mate, his admiration and respect for her growing, because he knew tht whatever she did last night played a big part in brining the baby safely into the world. His brows furrowed as he wondered about that blue-black mist and what it would or could have done if Trixy wasn't here. He shudeered as he recalled the nasty aura he'd felt, once Trixy's powers gave him the ability to see. They need to find the culprit because with Trishanna having her pup, her mates are going to be more focused on her, especially now and that could be their weakness.

Lorenzo then went over to Trishanna and Chip. The men were too busy either arguing about his name or trying to figure out who was behind it and why, and with Sam, Trixy and Bruno out of commission for the time being, there were no new leads. The doctor peeped in the room and saw that Chip was having his mid-morning meal, Trishanna looking down at him like he was the most precious thing in the world, and he was for the packs, for that little one is the future of them all, and appearently the key to brinning back balance in this crazy world. He turned his eyes to James and Bradley, who had similar looks on their faces. It seemed the only time they weren't fussing was when they were around Chip. He knocked lightly, and three pair of eyes turned to him. "Hi, just passing by and thought I would check in on you two." Trishanna nodded and Lornezo stepped towards the bed, glad that her mates no longer growled at him. He had laughed at their childish behaviour, comparing them to female cats who had just given birth, snatching anything small and cute, thinking that it was a kitten. He even showed them a video of a cat trying to keep the ducklings she taken in her crate. They looked sheepish, but Lorenzo just gave them a pat on the back, noting that it's usual behaviour, especially when they are Alphas and their mate and baby is under threat.

Lorenzo did a quick check, asking a few questions, satisfied with Trishanna's answers. The pup had never shifted since, so they wrote it off as a one-time thing for now, maybe triggered by the stress and danger of the day, yet Trishanna wondered. She asked about the three who played such a crucial part in her giving birth safetly. Lorenzo was happy to share that Sam had woken up, but he was still very tired. He asked James and Bradley to give him one more day before they started badgering him with questions. He was curious as well, but as a doctor, he needed his patient's care to come first.

Bradley sighed, asking if he was okay. The doctor nodded, and Bradley shoulders relaxed. Trishanna noticed that he's been tensed for a while, and knowing that his best friend and Beta were going to be okay eased some of his tension. Bradley leaned in and kissed her on her forehead, before leaning in to kiss his son on his cheek. He paused for a moment, taking in the sheer focus he had on his meal, and smiled. He straightened and turned, leaving. James did the same, and the two men headed downstairs toward the large meeting room. He had scheduled a Zoom call with the heads of the Council to announce the alliance of the packs, the birth of his... their son, the next alpha and to inform them of the attack and all that they knew. He would have liked to wait for Sam to give what he had learnt, but time was of the essence, as they were sure this attack was not random.

Bruno was the next to awaken. He found himself in one of the hospital rooms, his sister next to him on a bed, her mate next to her. He frowned as he recalled what happened. He got up, his body hurting like he'd been hit by a truck, but made his way across to Trixy. He leaned in, resting his head on her chest, her familair sound reassuring him. He sat on the bed, looking at the only one who has been with him before birth, shaking his head. He'd known what she wanted to do was reckless, but one talk about it being their duty as guardians made him relent. He could never deny her, which is why he always acted so tough, but he would do anything for his sister, knowing that their father had entrusted her to him as the older one, the one with the physical blessings in strenght and endurance. She knew nothing of this, but it seemes their mother told her the same as she always quoted her promise to their mother to keep his butt out of trouble when she could. He smiled at the hazy memories of their parents, he couldn't quite provide a description of thier looks, so many years have passed and they were still so young, but he always remembered his mother's voice as she hummed while doing chores, his father's warm hand as he ruffled his hair, not caring whether he did well or not, just proud that he had given his best, and their smiles as they bid them goodnight.

Trixy began to sob quietly, silent tears streaking down her face. Bruno leaned in, wiping it away, hoping that his touch borught her back as it did the last time, she used so mcuh of her powers. She whimpered again, calling for their mother, and he sighed, wiping her tears, trying to soothe her as best he could. He wasn't sure what her body went through, so he was afraid to move her. Sam woke up, his eyes immediately going to his mate. He looked at Bruno, who just shrugged, "I think she's just having a bad dream. It's happened a few times." Same got up awkwardly, limping as he came over to her other side. He raised the sheet and gingerly slide himself in, trying not to disturb the tube in her hand, yet his presence seemed to calm her down. She turned, face still wet, into his body, and when Sam placed his hand on her back, lightly patting, she shuddered and her body relaxed, her tears easing as she drifted back into a peachful sleep.

Bruno nodded, glad that his sister has her special someone, while trying not to feel hurt or rejected. It was not her fault that she found her mate. That thought made his midn go to the woman he helped capture, his heart skipping a beat as he thought of what she might mean to him. He wasn't completely sure if she was his mate, but his instincits told him to find out. He looked around, finding a T-shirt nearby. He doned it, taking a deep breath to steady his legs, as he walked out, heading toward the halway he hoped led him down to the basement. He was sure that she was still there, and he needed answers.
