Lysander flew again and immediately steadied himself in midair. His staff start to gather the glow of veins of yellow lightning.
Across from him, the storm-wrapped being hovered within the swirling clouds, his body flickering and unstable. But something had changed.
The air around him was thickening and vibrating. The thunder in the sky grew louder and more frequent. The creature's presence surged with new ferocity.
Bolts of blue white lightning erupted from his body, denser and sharper than before, each arc of lightning screaming through the rain like whips.
Lysander swallowed his saliva as he sensed the difference. "His power just spiked… what in the world—"
The being's head suddenly snapped upward, and for the first time, his chaotic flickering slowed. His glowing eyes burned brighter, intelligence slowly returning to their depths.
The lightning around him pulsed in rhythm, as though a second soul had joined within.
