Eddie's once expressionless face contorted into one of rage immediately he heard Stewie utter those words. He couldn't say he wasn't expecting this trick to be Stewie's last resort, he knew quite well the vampire would pull the blackmail card.
Jade pulled her brother back from making any uncalculated moves. This wasn't the time to cross fists with anybody. She too knew this would happen, she honestly thought it'd be the first thing Stewie would speak of, but the vampire had surprised her with his request.
"Eddie's not a wolf" Jade denied.
Stewie's shocked face turned towards the witch, and she returned the stare.
"I saw him transform, witches don't have claws, neither do they have fangs!" Stewie called out. He was sure of what he'd seen. Even Eddie's smell and aura had changed at that very moment, he was certain the boy had become a wolf at that very moment.
"There's no way for you to prove that, It was probably your imagination. You were beaten up pretty badly, you must have been seeing things" Jade returned, as well as reminded the vampire of his shameful deceit.
"Please just help me" Stewie pleaded instead. The girl was right, he really couldn't prove anything. And considering the condition he was in at that moment, there was the possibility of him hallucinating.
Jade smiled inwardly, her plan had worked out just as she had intended. If it was anybody else aside from Stewie, then she might have struggled with convincing them that Eddie wasn't a wolf. But with Stewie's intellect and the events of yesterday, she figured it wouldn't be too hard to get Eddie out of the vampire's claw.
"What do I do?" Eddie whispered to his sister. His conscience urged him to help the bully, but he didn't want to get caught up in vampire business. If only vampires had been a little more social and less maniacal and devious, then he might have accepted to help without any difficulty..
Jade was confused on an answer too. For the first time in ever, she actually felt pity towards a vampire. She could tell the bloodsucker before her was being sincere with his words and pleas, but just like his brother, she loathed getting involved with vampires. Nothing ever ended well when they were involved.
It was as if vampires were the bane of goodwill. They were creatures that thrived when things were unfavorable for others, and took pleasure in other people's downfall, how on earth could she neglect all this and Ally herself with their kind, even if it was just once. They might consider it a one time thing, but Jade knew that coming out of a vampire affair took more than just one raid.
"I'll follow whatever you say" She answered Eddie who brought his eyes back to face visibly sad Stewie.
"We'll help you, but only this once" He made clear. This would be the first and last time he was going to help out a vampire. He could already see this consequences of this agreement, but he did his best to keep it out of his mind. He has already given his answer, and now he was bound to keep to his words.
Stewie's face gleamed up, and his once grim expression had become a lively one that beamed with smiles. His joy ceased momentarily when the girl spoke, "You'll have to give us one ring for our assistance, if it's successful"
Stewie didn't give an answer immediately, he took his time to think this offer through. He needed their help desperately, but he couldn't share rings that belonged to his family.
Him giving her a ring meant that one member of his family had to remain a nightwalker. He weighed the two situations thoroughly before giving her an answer, "No problem, I'll meet you guys back here by midnight" He informed before leaving through the same route he came from.
"I thought you already had one of those, what do you need another one for?" Eddie inquired of his sister immediately Stewie was out of their sight.
"I need another one for safe keeping. I want to conduct a little experiment on the one I have right now" Jade answered. She wanted to learn how to make one of those rings, and for that she knew she had to destroy the one she had in order to thoroughly learn about it. She'll keep the one she'll get from Stewie in her collection.
Eddie nodded affirmatively to his sister's answer. She had a great idea, while he couldn't get the thought of whatever that might happen tonight out of his head. He couldn't believe he had just agreed to help someone murder another person. Eddie understood that in the world they existed in that he had to normalize killing or else he'll be killed. But he just couldn't get along with that logic.
Vampires won't hesitate to kill the wolves, and the same was the wolves too. Witches wouldn't also waste time in putting an end to either of the other two, so why couldn't it just sit right with him. His fight with Stewie wasn't his first confrontation with a vampire. He'd gotten into a lot of fights like that in middle school, but he had never killed anybody.
He had no idea how tonight would be, but hopefully he wouldn't be forced to commit his first murder.
