Elise Don parted through the throng of dancers, crossed the central dance floor, and walked on without looking back, with a shadow following her all the way.
Through the crowd, it was hard to see the face, but Liam Shane distinctly saw that it was a man.
Liam's heart skipped a beat, suspecting a thug might have shown up. He hurried to catch up, and thanks to his natural height advantage, he immediately blocked the thug's path.
The thug wasn't conscious of any counter-surveillance and seemed displeased by the interception.
He glared at Liam, "What do you want?!"
Liam: "I should be asking you, why are you following that girl around?"
"Oh, is she your girlfriend or something?!"
Liam: "She's not."
The "thug" quietly breathed a sigh of relief, sizing up Liam: This guy in front of him looked like he could easily take on ten of him. If he provoked him further, wouldn't he be in big trouble?
