Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Unnamable Strong Enemy

The shop's door was quite dilapidated. Lin Yue just gave it a gentle pull, and it crumbled like foam.

Covering his nose, Lin Yue braved the dust and walked into the shop, heading straight for the large iron object he had just seen.

As soon as he touched the object, which hadn't deteriorated much over time, information quickly came from the system!

[You have obtained an Embedded Steel Fireplace]

Who would have thought, after spending half a day trying to make something, he found it in such a simple way, in this Secret Realm?

Lin Yue thought of a possibility.

The significance of the existence of this Secret Realm.

He surveyed the room, the flames on the torch in his hand flickering continuously.

Little White remained silent, obediently perched on his shoulder.

Those ruby-like eyes curiously examined everything around.

The tables, chairs, books, and papers were all decayed beyond recognition, and even the metal objects were covered in rust.

However, he did see some dusty glass cups and porcelain plates, which he carefully collected into his inventory.

The flow of time doesn't take away many things, and glass and porcelain are more easily preserved than wood and metal.

Lin Yue was not sure how many years in the future this Earth was, but it should be the Earth he knew.

He carefully searched the shop and even went up to the second floor for a look.

Not finding too many useful things, he decided to return to the Shelter for now and come back another day.

Since he had already found the fireplace, there was no need to look for any perforated steel mesh.

Then...

"Puff! Puff!"

At this moment, Little White suddenly called out twice, and when Lin Yue was ready for battle, he found Little White hiding behind his back, biting his clothes hard and trembling all over.

"Little White?" Lin Yue trusted Little White's intuition; several times, the little one had correctly judged the attacking giant rats.

And now, this behavior meant... danger was coming!

He immediately crouched down in the far corner, stacking a few pieces of wood in front of him, almost instantly concealing his position completely.

Meanwhile, he peered through the gaps in the wood towards the window frame on the second floor, which no longer had glass.

Outside, there was a layer of hazy fog.

Suddenly, a shrill scream sounded, followed by a dark shadow descending from the sky, landing on the window frame!

Lin Yue was astonished to find that it was three monsters he had never seen before!

They had dark red bodies covered in wrinkled, horny skin, with a pair of wings covered with a thin membrane on their backs.

Their strong, bird-like legs with five clawed talons were gripping the window frame tightly, and their lizard-like bright yellow eyes kept scanning the room.

Lin Yue deeply believed that their horned, pike-like long beaks could not be withstood by his small round shield or his wooden armor!

Moreover, when these monsters turned their heads elsewhere, their worm-like slender white antennae moved up and down incessantly!

What… exactly are these monsters?

They resembled a cross between a bat and a bird, and somewhat like the conceptual drawings of the Winged Dragon he had seen!

But those antennae...

He tried hard to control his breathing, making sure not to make any noise, even lowering his head and ceasing to look, while Little White even closed its eyes and stayed curled up motionlessly.

The danger of these creatures, beyond his understanding, was self-evident!

Lin Yue knew very well that if he rashly rushed out, he would without a doubt become food for these terrifying creatures!

Time passed slowly, and Lin Yue had never felt time move so slowly before.

He tried hard to prevent his heart from beating too fast, while also hoping those monsters would leave soon.

After an unknown amount of time, the three monsters spread their wings and made that indescribable distorted call again, flying into the sky and disappearing.

Lin Yue waited a little longer, his legs nearly numb from crouching, before he let out a slight sigh of relief and sat lightly on the ground.

Little White returned to his shoulder from behind his back, still seemingly frightened, looking around continuously.

After resting for a while and ensuring it was safe, Lin Yue gently stood up, picked up the pieces of wood, and quickly went down to the first floor via the stairs.

His heart was now pounding like a motor running at full power!

"What exactly are those creatures? Did they originally exist on Earth?"

Lin Yue felt that compared to them, the Mutant Sheep he had encountered before were just like real sheep.

He recalled what some people in the group had mentioned; some said that people who went in never came out, maybe they encountered these monsters.

Exiting the house, Lin Yue quickly returned to the building, again finding the end of the ball of yarn and proceeded towards the direction of the Ancient Gate.

Of course, he remained extremely cautious along the way and paid close attention to any movement from Little White.

However, when he reached the Ancient Gate, he discovered that the corpses of the giant rats he had killed earlier were now nowhere to be found.

On the hard asphalt road, there were only spots of bloodstains left, along with enormous scratch marks that were shocking to see!

Pushing open the Ancient Gate, Lin Yue breathed the air of the Desert again, and his tense spirit relaxed, sitting directly on the ground.

Too dangerous!

At this moment, he absolutely didn't have the strength to fight with the two-meter-long flying creatures, let alone three!

If...

At this moment, a crystal snowflake slowly danced down in front of him, melting into a droplet on his pants, and disappeared in an instant.

Lin Yue looked up, more snowflakes were falling from a sky that had unknowingly turned overcast.

"It's snowing? Wait, how could it snow this quickly?"

Today is the fifth day, the disaster isn't supposed to occur until the day after tomorrow.

The sky was filled with snowflakes, becoming denser and denser.

But once on the ground, they quickly turned into water droplets, soaking into the soil.

Despite this, Lin Yue felt a slight chill brought by the snowflakes!

Lin Yue originally thought Little White, who usually exhaled cold air, would love the snow, but didn't expect the little guy to crawl directly into his pocket, not daring to even poke its head out.

"What's wrong? Isn't this your favorite weather?"

Lin Yue was puzzled in his heart.

Something was wrong.

He hurried towards the direction of the Shelter and after removing his equipment inside, he found that Little White seemed fine again, roaming around on the table.

However, for the Ice Lizard, the snow, its most suitable weather for activity, didn't attract it at all.

On the contrary, Lin Yue felt it seemed to fear the snow.

Could it be that there's something wrong with the snow?

Lin Yue stepped outside, catching a snowflake with his hand, and as it melted, he suddenly felt a slight burning sensation!
