Emma Lewis keenly noticed that Godfery Shaw's face was growing increasingly darker.
She squeezed in to help diffuse the tension, "This was really an accident."
Mr. Allen, growing angrier, said, "An accident? When Nancy first came to Riverwood City, you promised you'd take good care of her, yet things keep happening. I can't trust leaving her here. I must take her home today."
Robert Reed, also in a confrontational tone, said, "It's better to come back with me to Ink Manor for peace of mind and tranquility. Sophie wants her too."
Mr. Allen confronted Robert Reed, "Old Reed, what are you saying? You've already taken my grandchildren, and now you want to take my daughter too?"
Robert Reed's beard twitched, "What, not convinced? Sophie calls me grandpa!"
The two started arguing, both wanting to take Nancy away.
Edward Allen had already gone to find the housekeeper, intending to pack Nancy's luggage.
