Yes—whether others are safe or Ian himself is safe, it's not a simple equation, and might even be completely opposite. If Ian is safe, others might die; if others are safe, Ian might die, or everyone might die or survive... Every day, the Prophet's thoughts are at war with such 'possibilities.'
No wonder the majority of Prophets are insane.
