The establishment of families, tribes, city-states, and nations stems from the weakness and limitations of the individual.
Because one cannot procreate alone, survive in the wilderness alone, combat nature alone, or endure in this chaotic world alone.
Because there are many things one alone cannot accomplish, people unite, creating a larger, complete, and more powerful collective.
Just as a billion years ago, single-celled organisms gradually evolved into multicellular life forms because the collective better adapted to the increasingly complex and novel era, so advocated for united actions rather than solo struggles.
But, extremes beget reversals.
Because humans have divided labor and united, creating increasingly profound technologies, each of which an individual cannot master in a lifetime, let alone innovate. Only united collectives can produce such outcomes.
Yet these technologies make individuals increasingly able to survive independently without needing the collective.
