Raye's footsteps echoed hollowly in the administrative hallway. Her stomach churned and chest felt tight, every step heavier than the last.
A stern-looking counselor led her into a small office, papers clutched in hand. The walls were beige, decorated with motivational posters that now felt ironic.
"Raye," the counselor began, voice calm but firm, "after reviewing the incident at the archives, the administration has decided that you are suspended for four days. During this time, you are not permitted on campus."
Raye froze, her mind failing to process the words. "Suspended? But I—I didn't—"
"I understand that you feel wronged," the counselor interrupted gently, "but until a full investigation can be conducted, this is the interim measure."
Raye's vision blurred. "This… this isn't fair! I didn't do anything!"
The counselor sighed, offering a sympathetic glance. "I know it feels harsh, but rules are rules. You may appeal, but the suspension stands until then."
Raye nodded numbly, her throat tight with unshed tears. The counselor left her to gather her things, leaving her in silence with the weight of the accusation pressing down.
By the time she reached the front gate, the sunlight outside felt harsh and mocking. She pulled out her phone and dialed Jane immediately.
"Jane… it's… I'm suspended," she whispered, voice cracking.
"Suspended?!" Jane exclaimed, her voice a mixture of shock and anger. "What?! Raye, what happened? Are you serious?"
Raye slumped against the school gate, trying to hold herself together. "They… they said it was the archives. Joshua… Danielle… I didn't do anything, Jane. I swear. I—I just went because Danielle asked me!"
Jane's voice softened immediately. "Hey, hey… it's okay. Where are you now , Raye. Don't let them ruin you today. I'm here, okay? I've got you ?"
Raye sniffled cleaning the small tears which had trailed down her cheek .
"In front of ...the school ...' sniffle '... Gate "
"Oh my baby , am hurrying there give me two minutes .. fuck " Jane cursed as she hang up the call .
"Raye "
Raye breath hitched she knew that voice but she wasn't ready to see him now .
Not when she was looking pathetic and hopeless like this .
How could things turn so bad in a blink of an eye , she was just in the library trying to study and now she was getting suspension .
Worst... for something she knew nothing of .
The unfair part of everything was that no one was even ready to listen to her side of the story , how could they ,she had no full prove .
Things needed to be looked at , she didn't even know what had happened , Danielle was nowhere to be found , so her pointing blames to her felt stupid .
It felt like she was just throwing a baseless tantrum .
She turned back slowly to see Kyle standing there , watching her , not his usual sarcastic smirk. Not a flirty wink.
Just... him. Quiet. Present.
And she broke.
Her eyes blurred with tears before she knew it she was engulfed in a tight hug as she cried out letting everything out .
Kyle grip on Raye tightened his jaw clenched angrily as he slowly patted her .
"Shuuu , don't cry it's okay ".
Silent sobs at first. Then full body shaking, nose-sniffling, sleeve-soaking kind of crying. The pathetic kind.
"I swear," she mumbled between sobs, "I didn't do anything."
He didn't ask for proof.
" Hey shuu, don't cry again ...look at me " Kyle said moving a little as he cupped her her face ,while Raye tried to hide her teary face sniffling .
"I didn't - ".
"Shuu , I know cupcake , you didn't do it and I trust you so fucking much ...." Kyle inhaled loudly closing his eyes shut as he tried to control his anger .
The person who made her cry better run as far as they could .
He knew something was wrong , when she left ...and now he heard about it .
The suspension , it's all over the school , everywhere in the whole school ...he had practically ran here trying to look for her .
Only to meet her in such pathetic state .
Fuck he cursed as he wiped the tears from her cheek slowly before kissing them away .
"Don't cry it's okay ".
"I didn't do it ..seriously....I didn't ..do ..I ...t ..I was framed and they didn't even want ...to ..he ...re me ... They don't want to lis..ten to me Kyle " Raye hiccuped in each word while Kyle watched her teary face which didn't do well to calm him down .
He cleaned the tears slowly from her eyes hugging her tightly as he dropedd a kiss on her head .
"Raye "
someone yelled as Raye turned to see Jane running towards them she slowly released from Kyle meeting Jane half way who hugged her tightly.
"Oh my baby , don't cry , let it all out , am here for you " Jane muttered smothering Raye hair whose body shook violently as she cried loudly .
"Fuck , if I catch Joshua am going to kick him so hard and Danielle too ".
Kyle frowned before asking " who is Joshua ?" .
"It's this stupid motherfucker , they planned the whole thing and framed her ".
Kyle clenched his fist so tight his knuckles turned white .
"Take her home , " he said to Jane who nodded slowly still glaring at nothing in particular.
"I need to handle something ".
By the time she got home, tears were streaming freely down Raye's face. She collapsed on her bed, the world suddenly feeling impossibly unfair.
Jane sat beside her, offering tissues and comforting words. "You're not alone, Raye. We'll figure this out. We'll fix this."
Raye sniffled, leaning against her best friend. "I just… I can't believe Danielle would do this. And Joshua… he planned it. I—"
Jane rubbed her back gently. "Shh… breathe. I know it hurts. But we'll handle it. Suspensions end, the truth comes out, and those two won't get away with it. You're stronger than they think."
Raye wiped her tears, trying to gather some strength. The betrayal stung, but Jane's presence grounded her. She took a shaky breath and whispered, "Thanks, Jane… I don't know what I'd do without you."
Jane smiled, squeezing her hand. "Never alone, Raye. Never."
