Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Eat Slowly, There's No Rush

Since there is evidence, everyone present wanted to join the excitement. Everyone crowded together, except for Melody and her assistant Jesse who were anxious.

Sweat slid down her spine, her eyes futilely looking at the crowd's faces, changing expressions unpredictable.

The crowd exclaimed, "This Melody is really a liar, it's obviously a thief crying 'stop thief'."

"I think she's a drama queen, doesn't have any real talent."

"Such a schemer."

For a moment, Melody became the target of all criticisms, and the crowd was shouting, "Why do we want such a leading actress?"

"She doesn't have any acting skills, might as well completely replace her."

In lush greens, bright sunlight, the occasional breeze in the Ancient Village felt very comfortable; Rosie lowered her head, looking down at Melody who was like a mud-soaked stray dog, barely surviving, quietly sobbing.

Such a disgraceful sight, Blake Shaw should have no good impression of her. Although the cost is a bit high, if it can save an idol, it is worth it.

But, things were not as simple as she thought.

In the distance, a silver-haired man broke free from his agent's shackles, blocking multi-sided public opinion.

He raised his arms and shouted, "Melody just has a bad temper, she's not malicious."

Blake Shaw's towering figure stayed in Rosie's eyes like a thorn, striking up waves of shock in her pupil.

Standing beside Rosie was Carey, observing her face, his dark eyes slightly tense, clenching the handkerchief in his palm.

Rosie's mind quickly spun; if it was Melody's one-sided infatuation, she could have ways to stop the tragedy, but if Blake Shaw was the one infatuated, she would be helpless.

She never expected that the idol enlightening her lost path would speak up for a woman as despicable as Melody.

Why exactly?

"Shaw, why are you speaking for her? Do you have some undisclosed relationship with her?" The crowd boldly questioned.

"No, I just want to ask everyone to give Melody another chance." Blake Shaw pleaded once more, the crowd, though grudged against the leading actress, still gave face to Shaw.

The crowd's emotions were temporarily subdued by him.

Blake Shaw turned and walked towards Rosie, anxious and pleading in his brow and eyes, slightly bowed his head: "This matter was Melody's mistake, I apologize to you on her behalf."

The young girl took a step back, curling her hands slightly, fragments danced in her eyes, and before she could respond, Mr. Carey beside her slightly parted his lips to end the farce.

"This matter can be big or small, considering it's the first time, it'll be noted. If it happens again, then just replace her directly."

Melody was helped away by her assistant, and the extras dispersed, while Director Clarke and Producer Sutton circled around Mr. Carey.

The matter ended here.

The farce concluded, the director said it was to boost morale and invite for a meal, but it was really to welcome the VIP Mr. Carey.

A private room was booked, seated inside were the leading actors with heavier roles, later adding more chairs, squeezing in supporting roles like Rosie.

The young girl came to dine after a quick freshening up, in contrast to the other lavish entrances, she carried a different charm.

Fortunately, the young girl's face full of collagen, even without makeup, had the allure of a southern girl, her black hair loosely tied at the back of her head, slightly lazy, yet her brow and eyes shallowly charming.

As soon as she entered the private room, her presence was locked by multiple gazes, whether it was the grumpy Producer Sutton and Director or the unpleasant Melody earlier, their eyes revealed a hint of amazement.

Only Blake Shaw, he was constantly attending Melody, without raising his head to look at her.

Rosie noticed Blake Shaw as soon as she walked in, lightly sighed in her heart: is it too late now to stop all this?

"Rosie is here, sit next to Mr. Carey, come, come, indeed young and vibrant, looking good even without makeup." Director Clarke's eye wrinkles layered, smilingly arranging her to sit.

Rosie hesitated a moment, seeing Ms. Lindsey nod slightly, she reluctantly sat beside Mr. Carey.

Mr. Carey watched her cautiously take a seat, the corner of his eye slightly lifted.

Normally speaking, for the VIP presence, the side seats should belong to the male and female leads, Rosie as a rookie second female wasn't fit for that position.

Melody, the female lead already subdued, had lost face earlier, and when back to the room, was scolded harshly by her boss on the phone, her mood bleak, lacking appetite, let alone competing position with Rosie.

"Director, no need for such a grand gesture, I'll only stay a few days and leave." Mr. Carey's voice was low and gentle, the man raised his glass, and the people at the table immediately stood up.

Rosie stood up along, at this age, money is power, do whatever is commanded.

"Oh, today I didn't host well, this could be considered as an apology, hoping Mr. Carey won't be upset."

Their conversation was quite dull, holding the wine constantly without moving chopsticks to pick food, Rosie sitting aside pursed her lips, looking at the full-table dishes, she was already hungry.

The young girl's hand hidden under the table continually fiddled with the tablecloth.

Mr. Carey exchanged a few words with Director Clarke, then changed the topic: "Everyone, let's start eating, or the food will get cold."

Once he spoke, then it started their meal, when the director and producer talked happily, they would raise the glass, and the actors below were obliged to follow, Rosie's cheeks puffed as she raised hers.

She was eating happily, raising her eyes she saw Jane sweeping a gaze over, startling the young girl into choking, she lightly thumped her chest, face reddened uncomfortably, palm was suddenly filled with a cup of orange juice.

"Eat slowly, no rush." The man beside her, voice like flowing water, entered her ear gently, Mr. Carey's large hand patted the young girl's slender back, the strength perfectly balanced, neither heavy nor light, patting several times, Rosie soothed.

While he was comforting her, his conversation with the director and producer did not stop, seemingly intentionally diverting their attention.

"I'll consider the investment issues, you also need to pay more attention to actors' safety, I believe the security in this Ancient Village is a big issue."

"Mr. Carey is right, we'll immediately adjust what you mentioned."

Director Clarke and Producer Sutton exchanged a glance, looking at Mr. Carey, who was attentive and gently offering water to Rosie, clearly indicating something.

"Rosie, today Mr. Carey helped you resolve the situation, why not toast Mr. Carey quickly?" As Director Clarke said this, Rosie felt uncomfortable like thorns on her back, the matter of the day was extremely awkward, and for the director to bring it up now left Melody in an awkward position.

Melody currently was like a unattended concubine, in the corner only able to eat a few grains of rice, if not for Blake Shaw giving her a chicken leg, probably wouldn't eat meat all evening.

The young girl deeply understood, knowing the enemy and oneself grants a hundred victories without peril.

It seems she must first understand the relation between Melody and Blake Shaw to save her idol.

Rosie stood up raising her glass: "Thanks to Mr. Carey for resolving today, this glass is to you."

Mr. Carey slightly lifted the corner of his mouth, nodding to accept.

However, the young girl hadn't finished speaking, she poured another glass: "I have another toast for Melody, today both parties were at fault, adults shouldn't hold grudges overnight."

Melody least wanted to be named at the moment, she would only feel that Rosie is flaunting, not that she really wanted to help her out of the predicament.

"Miss Scott really is broad-minded, Melody is enlightened." She gritted her teeth.
