I felt a surge of panic as I imagined what my brother might have done. He was always up to some mischief. I quickly called him back, hoping that he hadn't ruined my chances with LIVEX Entertainment.
"Hey, sis, what's up?" he answered casually, as if nothing had happened.
"Don't play dumb with me, you little brat! What did you say to them? Did you pretend to be me or reject them or say anything stupid?" I demanded, trying to sound angry, but secretly fearing the worst.
He chuckled, and I heard a smug tone in his voice. "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. You'll have to guess."
I groaned, knowing that he was enjoying this. "Please, tell me the truth. This is really important to me. You don't know how much this means to me."
He sighed, and I hoped that he was feeling some remorse. "Okay, okay, I'll tell you. But you owe me big time for this, sis."
"What do you mean?" I asked, feeling suspicious.
He cleared his throat and then imitated Dad's voice. "Hello, this is Mr. Lee, the father of the talented and beautiful Kim Jae Ra. I'm very pleased to hear that you are interested in signing her to your company. She has my full support and permission to pursue her dreams. However, I have one condition. You must also sign her brother, Lee Min-ho, who is equally talented and handsome as a model. He is a star in the making, and I'm sure he will be a great asset to your company."
I gasped and felt my face turn red with anger and second-hand embarrassment. He had not only lied to them but also tried to get himself a contract. How could he be so selfish and shameless? Only this punk was capable of this.
"Are you kidding me? You said that?" I yelled, feeling furious.
He laughed and switched back to his normal voice. "Relax, sis, I'm just messing with you. I didn't say that. I told them the truth, that you had made a mistake with the numbers, and that you were the one they wanted. They were very understanding and said they would call you back soon. Don't worry, you still have a chance."
I felt a wave of relief, and then a surge of anger. He had scared me for nothing and wasted my time. I wanted to strangle him, but I also wanted to hug him. He had done the right thing, after all.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I said, feeling grateful. "But you're still a rat for pranking me like that. You almost gave me a heart attack."
He chuckled, and said, "You're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome. But you still owe me for saving your butt. How about you buy me a pizza, and let me use your laptop for a week?"
I rolled my eyes, and said, "Fine. But only if you promise to never do something like that again. Deal?"
He agreed, and we hung up. I hoped that he was telling the truth and that LIVEX Entertainment would call me back soon. I still had a dream to chase, and I needed all the luck I could get.
Now to skip the boring long parts, in summary, I have been repetitively trying to persuade my parents to sign the K-pop contract. Why you may ask. This is because as much as my brother did to help, I had slightly wished he had actually imitated Dad. Now I have to try and get their signatures.
I have tried to do this without disclosing what it is they are signing. My dad being generally more gullible and easygoing (sometimes) was in a good mood for his favourite football match.
So at the pretence of a school trip, I easily got him to sign it saying it was free, which was an obvious bluff. This school's trips were more expensive than my bus ticket fare in a year,
The school was unreasonably expensive, which was the main reason why I never really bought from the canteen. This was unless it was the cheap leftover snacks or affordable munchies I could buy.
It had been 7 days since that call and I had been failing terribly to get my mum to sign anything, she was unnecessarily busy all of the time. To add to that, she was so curious about everything, if I told her about the school trip she would ask where I was going and the date, how much money I needed.
In conclusion, I think that I might have to tell her. It's not like my mum doesn't know I'm crazy about K-pop I've been like that since I was a child. Now, right now as I am speaking, I'm going to reveal the truth. I don't know what Mom or Dad will say, but I might as well take the risk.
I stood bravely in front of my Mom, "Mom... I WANT TO-"
" Jae Ra! I told you not to come into the kitchen I'm still mopping!"
My mom scolded me, abruptly shoving me out of the kitchen.
I stood there like a pack of ice, firm in my decision. Calm and collected I spoke,
" Mom I want to be a K-pop idol. "
My mom didn't even look up at me, she just said," Mmmh. "
That was it.
While focusing on getting that particularly ugly brown stain off of the kitchen floor. She didn't spare me a glance nor even a second. Dad just looked at me and said,
"Wild dreams Jae Ra. "
What do you mean by 'wild dreams'? Dad of all people, but I mean at least he even recognised my presence. However, what can l say my mum was ruthlessly sinister in her actions and words in the most kindly and unintentional way.
But, I was still equally disappointed in both of my parents and decided that I would begin my silent treatment to my parents until they realised that my dreams are not wild nor are they to be so easily dismissed.
I'll show them. Then that was the start of my plan.
