Chapter 727 - Chapter 726: Iconic Time-Freeze Scene!

The guards all pulled out their pistols, aiming at the four intruders, their fingers twitching on the triggers, ready to fire at any moment!

Seeing this, Erik immediately turned to Charles, hoping he could use his powers to handle the guards. But Charles shook his head—he couldn't do anything right now. He truly was powerless.

With the situation escalating fast, Erik didn't hesitate any longer. He activated his powers. They were in a kitchen, and sharp knives of all shapes and sizes lay scattered on the counter—now each one began to levitate.

Charles saw the deadly intent in Erik's eyes and quickly reached out to stop him. Meanwhile, the guards opened fire. Tension exploded in an instant!

But in the very moment the bullets left the barrels, time itself seemed to slow. The bullets crept forward at a snail's pace, and even Logan's adamantium claws extended from between his knuckles in painfully slow motion—as if time had completely frozen.

Yet in this frozen moment, there was one person still moving freely: Pietro.

He calmly slipped on his goggles and began to run.

Everything around him was motionless—the droplets from a triggered sprinkler hung suspended in midair, and a pot of overturned stew was frozen in mid-splash. Even liquids were caught in this time-stopped world.

"No… It's not that time is frozen. Pietro is just moving that fast!"

Viewers outside the screen were stunned, gasping in awe at what they were seeing.

Sure, they had already seen Pietro's powers in that Avengers vs. Ultron future video, where he showed off his super speed. But that didn't come close to the shock and visceral impact of this moment!

Exactly—when someone moves fast enough, doesn't everything else appear frozen?

In the video, pietro casually popped in his earbuds, listening to upbeat music as he raced freely through the frozen world. He weaved through bullets and chaos as if it were a game.

In a situation like this, he was nearly untouchable. He could go film an X-rated movie with a notebook and wouldn't even need props!

The guards were frozen mid-action, completely helpless as Pietro messed with them. The high-speed bullets were no more threatening than crawling turtles—he could easily nudge them aside mid-flight. A hail of gunfire meant nothing to him.

Pietro even had time to toss on a baseball cap. Once he was done with everything, time resumed its normal pace. Bullets veered wildly off target, and the guards went tumbling in every direction, falling into total chaos.

To everyone else, this all happened in a flash, a blink. But to Pietro, it was long enough to finish an entire song. Once again, audiences were reminded just how incredible speed-based powers could be.

At first, many people didn't think much of "super speed"—especially when compared to powers like Superman's invincible body, Steve's super-soldier serum, Charles's telepathy, or Erik's control over metal.

Against those, "speed" seemed... underwhelming.

That was, until the Flash made his debut and showed the world just how insane speed could be—when someone runs fast enough, they could bend time itself, turning the impossible into reality.

Pietro didn't quite reach the Flash's time-reversing level, but the sheer visual spectacle was enough to leave viewers speechless.

And with that came the obvious question: "If Pietro's fast enough to freeze time… how the hell did he get shot to death by bullets?"

After all, the quiz game had already shown a death clip—Avengers Pietro getting gunned down while saving someone. It was a heroic but tragic moment, riddled with machine-gun fire.

Outside the video, Stephen stared at Pietro with a smirk. "Huh, so even if you're both called Quicksilver, there's still a gap between you."

Pietro looked visibly annoyed and snapped back, "It's no big deal. I—I'll be able to do that too one day!"

He put on a tough front, but in his heart, he knew the truth. He wasn't as fast as the multiverse version in the video. Same age—maybe even younger—but that Pietro had trained himself, learned everything alone.

Which meant that under the same conditions, Avengers Pietro simply wasn't as fast as the X-Men Pietro. Still, Pietro Maximoff had confidence that he'd catch up eventually.

Especially now—thanks to sharing experiences with the Flash—Pietro was already much stronger than he would've been in his original timeline. His growth potential was huge.

Regardless, after this legendary moment, Pietro had definitely earned a surge in popularity. He was no longer the nameless background character few people noticed.

Back in the video, after Pietro single-handedly dealt with the guards, the group was able to escape the Pentagon safely.

Charles used his money powers to "acquire" a private jet, then set off with Erik and Logan to Paris to stop Raven's upcoming assassination attempt.

Pietro didn't join them this time. The next mission would be even more dangerous, and it was best not to get him caught up in it.

Onboard the plane, Erik finally asked Charles why he'd lost his powers. When Charles explained that the serum that let him walk had also suppressed his abilities, Erik's expression turned angry.

"You gave up your powers… just so you could walk?"

To be honest, that was pretty unfair. Erik was the very reason Charles lost the use of his legs in the first place.

So Charles had every right to be mad. The two began arguing, voices rising as they touched on the pain of their past.

Eventually, Charles couldn't hold back. He stood up abruptly and snapped, "Erik, do you want to fight?!"

Erik stood as well, smirking. "Go ahead!"

Charles exploded in fury. His face turned red as he grabbed Erik by the collar and shouted, "You left me! You took Raven from me—then you left me!"

Compared to Charles's raw emotion, Erik was calm—no, cold.

Expressionless, he stared at his old friend and quietly listed names: "Angel. Azazel. Emma Frost. Riptide… All of them are dead."

He paused, voice rising with each name. "Our mutant brothers and sisters were captured, experimented on, slaughtered. Where were you, Charles?"

Erik's voice trembled with emotion, the entire plane shaking with his anger. When he reached his breaking point, he roared:

"We were supposed to protect them! But when your own people needed you, where were you? You hid! You and Hank lied to yourselves, too scared to face the truth—you abandoned us!"
