Chapter 740 - Chapter 739 – Wolverine Brutally Beaten

In the video projection, Erik stormed into the White House, using his powers to control the Sentinels and keep them busy fighting Logan and Hank—so they wouldn't interfere with his hunt for the President, Trask, and the other top officials.

Hank understood Erik was the real threat, so he transformed into Beast and engaged the Sentinels in a brawl, giving Logan a chance to confront Erik directly.

At this point, Logan still didn't have his adamantium skeleton, putting him at a clear disadvantage.

He popped his bone claws and charged forward. But Erik simply tilted his chin, and the surrounding metal objects sprang to life, flying toward Logan one after another.

Just as Logan was about to reach Erik, a heavy slab of concrete slammed into his back, instantly flattening him to the ground.

Then, with a casual wave of Erik's hand, the steel rebar within the concrete twisted like living snakes, coiling around Logan's body before brutally driving straight through his limbs and torso.

Logan let out a blood-curdling scream, the kind that made even the viewers watching outside the screen feel chills run down their spines.

Erik's methods were absolutely merciless.

But you had to admit—his presence as a villain was overwhelming. Every gesture radiated an oppressive force that made it hard to breathe, even through a screen.

Outside the video feed, Logan stared daggers at Erik. Erik just shrugged and said, "I warned you, Logan. Opposing me never ends well."

"You ambushed me, you coward!" Logan growled.

Erik chuckled coldly, not even bothering to argue.

Charles frowned. "Erik, this kind of terror attack only deepens the rift between humans and mutants."

Erik shook his head. "And you think this is my fault? Haven't humans brought all of this on themselves? Charles, you've already judged me based on these future videos.

Think about it—before Logan traveled back in time, where was I? Locked in a Pentagon prison.

Why? Because I turned myself in—for allegedly attempting to assassinate the President.

You saw that yourself in the previous quiz session. Don't tell me you don't know why I surrendered.

I offered peace. I compromised. And what did I get in return? The Sentinels—humanity's plan to wipe us out completely! So tell me, why should I keep compromising?"

Everything Erik said had some truth to it—but it was also clear he was defending himself and trying to spin the narrative. The reality was, his decision to surrender wasn't purely an act of goodwill. At the time, his Brotherhood of Mutants wasn't strong enough to stand against humanity as a whole.

Sure, Erik was powerful—he could tear warships apart with his bare hands—but if he had gone to war with the entire world, it would've been a disaster.

So in truth, his surrender was a calculated move, born of reason. But while he was imprisoned, Charles—the other mutant leader—exiled himself.

That left the entire mutant race leaderless, vulnerable. What followed was their darkest hour.

This hard-earned lesson was exactly why Erik, in the video, was now taking such a direct and violent approach—storming the White House with no more room for patience or hope. He'd tasted the bitterness of compromise and lost all faith in humanity.

If you look at Erik's life as a whole, you'd see that this so-called iron-fisted "leader" wasn't always as rigid as he appeared. He had made compromises before, including working with Charles for a time. But they ultimately parted ways because of irreconcilable differences in ideology.

It was through repeated experience that Erik came to firmly believe in fighting violence with violence. In his eyes, the possibility of peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans had become almost nonexistent.

Every step back mutants took, every compromise—they only brought harsher suppression from human society.

Faced with Erik's harsh words, Charles fell silent. He knew that, at this point, trying to talk about "hope" or "change" was meaningless. Nothing could sway Erik now.

All he could do was turn his gaze back to the video.

Inside the footage, Erik was utterly overwhelming. He skewered Logan with steel rebar like it was nothing. If it had been any ordinary person, the massive internal bleeding alone would have killed them instantly. But Logan had an incredible healing factor—he couldn't die so easily. Instead, he had to endure every second of the excruciating torture.

"Your time as a survivor is over."

Erik had clearly decided to kill him. With a flick of his hand, the rebar flung Logan into the air like a ragdoll, hurling him out of the stadium and into the river.

Wracked with pain, Logan couldn't even struggle—he simply sank slowly to the bottom.

Meanwhile, in the year 2023, Logan's real body thrashed in agony on the stone slab, causing the older Charles beside him to grow increasingly grim. He could sense that a pivotal battle was unfolding in the past—one that would shape the future. And Logan was losing.

Back in the past, after taking Logan down, Erik could finally focus on searching the White House without distraction. The President, Trask, and the other key figures had already taken shelter in an underground safe room. Raven had disguised herself as a Secret Service agent and infiltrated the group.

With Charles not around to stop her, she was preparing to carry out her assassination mission amidst the chaos.

But just as she made her move, one of the other agents spotted her.

It wasn't the smartest time to act—everyone was already on edge. In an instant, multiple black muzzles turned and aimed at her.

Trask shouted, "Don't shoot! I want her alive!"

The mad scientist's demand saved Raven from being gunned down on the spot. But just then, the entire safe room began to tremble. Erik had found them.

Unfortunately for them, the White House's underground bunker was also made of metal—probably a rushed oversight during their escape.

Now they were all trapped like fish in a barrel.

The tremors intensified. The power cut out. The lights inside flickered and dimmed. Raven took the chance to break free from her captors.

Moments later, the entire bunker was ripped out of the White House and hurled onto the lawn outside.

Erik approached slowly, calm and in control. With a simple tug of his hands, the front wall of the bunker peeled away like paper.

The officials inside panicked, screaming, clutching each other in fear.
