Just like he said, the other kings didn't even put up a fight when he told them he was leaving with me. I had thought they would at least argue about me taking off for a trip with Drake, but they didn't. They were even relieved about that, and I realised, just before we left, that they were going on a stakeout. I got the information late and couldn't contact Ryth, not with Drake breathing down on me.
I tried to use the excuse of going to the restroom to connect with her, but Drake followed me, claiming he also wanted to take a leak.
The lousy king was making me hate him more. He was proving to be a damned thorn in my side, frustrating my life with a smile on his face and acting all innocent about it.
“Are you ready to leave?” He grinned, acting like everything was okay when it fucking wasn't. I had this suspicion he knew what he was doing. He wasn't being too discreet about it.
