When we got to the beach Dillan turned to us and said, 'Before we start there is something that has been troubling me.' He turned to Jason, 'Something is different about you, at first I thought it was because you were a werewolf and a different species but I have met others of your kind and I can confidently say you are different. It feels as if you are connected to me somehow, like something about you is familiar but I have never met you before, why is that.'
I looked at Jason and tried to sense what he talked about and that was when I realized I felt it too, I always had but I thought it was because of the mate bond but it seems it's not. Jason looked like he was contemplating something before he stretched his hands out towards the sea and a portion of the water separated moving towards his palms.
My jaw dropped in shock and I looked towards Dillan and I could tell he was surprised. 'How is this possible.' I asked Jason. Werewolves normally don't have powers but there are a few exceptions of this rule, they are the Royal bloodline, guardians and oracles. Even in the Royal bloodline the power is only inherited by who is to inherit the throne and title Alpha supreme, others in the family may have powers but very mild like aura sensing, mild telekinesis or something like that but never anything as strong as elemental control. This is why everybody was appalled when I displayed signs of power because even though I may be related to royalty but the distance was very far and there was already a crowned prince who would inherit the title of Alpha supreme and he controlled flames, it just so happens I controlled the one element that rivaled his. Everybody was scared of me since they felt I could threaten the peace of the land but thankfully my pack always kept to ourselves and when my father realized what everybody thought, he limited our activities with the outside packs even more and I rarely leave our territory unless it's important and try my best not to form alliances that others feel would threaten the throne. Even then wolves still fear me and supporters of the throne have tried to assassinate me, I try my best not to show my powers and what I am really capable of.'
After he finished there was a pregnant pause as we tried to digest this new information, 'I guess the training is for both of you then. I guess being a wolf you don't need endurance training so that just leaves Chloe, I want you to run from here to that tree back and forth for ten times.' Dillan said while pointing to a tree that was far away and I just about started crying when I saw the distance and imagined how many times I had to complete it. I have never been athletic but looking at Dillan i know no amount of begging will save me from this.
I just sucked it up like a big girl and started running, this was going to hurt. Dillan turned to Jason and asked him, 'Have you ever tested for the limit of you power?' 'Limit? I don't think there is one or even if there is it will not easily be reached.' Dillan just smiled while saying, 'We will see about that. Lets give her space to run, come with me.' they walked some distance away before he continued, 'I want you to raise the largest body of water you can and hold it.' Jason raised his hand once again to the water and a large part of the water was lifted up and he left it there, Dillan turned to study if Chloe was running properly and started guiding at her, 'Control your breathing if not you will get tired faster, try to pace yourself, it's an endurance training not a race. We have enough time.' She gave a nod and tried to follow his directions, after a while he turned to Jason and saw that he was sweating, the water was still up but it was obvious the effort it was taking to keep it there.
After like ten more minutes while he was looking at Chloe he heard the sound of water falling and turned to see Jason with his hands on his knees breathing deeply. 'To use your power takes training, its like you have a muscle that you have not been using, with time it will fall weak. You have to take the time to build it back up and strengthen it for it to work the way you want. And from what you told me, you have not really had any formal training on how to use your power and I can tell that its more than what we see right now. If I were to guess the reason why you have this powers is because the both of you are mates, and am guessing after finding each other and mating these powers may just grow.'
By now Chloe had finished her run and sat down close to them panting while listening to what he was saying. 'Usually, merfolk's don't have destined mates, we choose our mates and when we bond, we bond for life. There is no moon goddess playing cupid but our mating ceremony is sacred and passed on from our ancestors, the vows taken can not be undone for life much like your mating ceremony. It has a way of changing each partner on a fundamental level, merfolk's are strong magically and Chloe is one of the strongest to have ever existed, to mate with her you cant be weak and no matter how strong a werewolf is, even an alpha. It will not be one tenth of her strength, that may be why you are this strong. But so far, you have not had any training at all, I will create a lesson plan for you. You need to train properly before you guys mate each other, to avoid any accident from happening. So for now, keep your hands to yourself.' he said while looking at the both of us.
We looked at each other and tried to digest what he said. 'Okay no giving each other loving eyes in my presence, keep that for when you are alone. Get up Chloe, we have to start self defense training.'
