Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Howdy my new friend?

After I successfully escaped the onslaught of those three from the Prison Sector, I embarked on the new area that is classic in the story.

A kingdom that is struggling for its survival. For now, I will lay low until the heat on my bounty is lowered a bit and hope that no one will notice me.

"Are you sure you want to join this, Bai?"

"Yeah. Why not? I am still someone that needs to learn everything and this war might show something to me and this place might become a place I can die"

"..."

I will never know that my decision will greatly affect my current mindset and meeting that person changes the value I see...

Year 12xx, Area 90283

A peaceful area...cannot be said as the area is ignorant of the outer area. They think their area or planet is the whole world. Who can blame them for thinking like that when they can't even go into space?

Busy with waging war everywhere, the three kingdoms, stood proud thinking they are the ruler of the world.

In the Royal Palace, where the ministers and nobles gathered, stood a king. King Klionet Von Marcilius, the ruler of the Desluli Kingdom scanned the whole hall before he clear his throat.

"Ahem. Now my ministers and noble, we have an urgent situation. Both of our neighboring kingdoms have made allies of each other and now trying to trample our kingdom first. What is your opinion?"

After King Klionet finished speaking, immediately the whole palace was in an uproar. One of the nobles proudly shouted 'That impudence', 'Let's destroy them!' and so on. One of the nobles, Lohgi Bilkas raises his hand for permission to speak.

"Sir Marquis Bilkas, what are your opinion as one of the people with wisdom?"

Every person in the hall stayed quiet for a while since they recognized the achievement of Marquis Bilkas.

"My king...I am afraid the age we are in now will go down as the worst history. We have no other choice but to declare war."

"Hmmm...Prime Minister Wescelay, what are your opinion then?"

Prime Minister Wescelay, who was standing beside King Klionet, pondered for a while before speaking.

"This time I am afraid I will need to agree with Sir Marquis Bilikas."

King Klionet made a concerned face before reaching the final decision. The people inside the hall become quiet to await the verdict from their king.

"Gentlemen, we are going to war! Make haste with preparation and if there is a need for recruitment from the citizen and make haste with it too. Our survival now depends on time and we hope that you can work to the best from now until the time. Dismissed!"

Every people inside the hall dispersed and the ones left were King Klionet and Prime Minister Wescelay. His advisor came near him and kneel, "My king, when will the war begin?"

"Two months. We will strike them within that time."

"As you wish, my king"

Prime Minister Wescelay took his leave while King Klionet started to wonder whether his decision was correct or not...

Two months later...

A young man, with a simple cloth hiding his face was walking through a bustling area. He walked while browsing the street and saw something that made him stop walking and went to it.

"Rei, look at this"

"'Mercenary in need! Let's fight for our beautiful kingdom! Let's stop the ungrateful countries!' Eh... I don't know. Bai, I think we should not jo-"

The young man, Bai had his eyes glued onto the poster and not minding Rei's words about not joining. He then turned around and looked at Rei with sparkling eyes, "Rei, look at this! They have a reward too for people joining them. Let's join the-"

Before Bai even could finish his words, he saw Rei making a disgusted face. She squinted her eyes and slowly distanced herself from him.

"What? It's pretty good right?"

"You think it is?"

"Yeah. I can even be training myself while receiving rewards. Hitting two birds with one stone I would say."

"Sigh..."

Rei sighed while Bai was explaining his opinion on this. Bai even added, "We could even evade the Prison guys too. Three birds, Rei. Three birds."

"...Let me tell you this. War is never a good thing. Whatever the purpose is."

"..."

Bai pondered for a while after hearing Rei's reasoning but he concludes that the higher the risk the better the rewards. So, he decides to go register himself and join the war as a mercenary...

--------------------------+----------------------------+-----------------------

"Sir! We can't be doing this. Even if it's war, it is not their job to fight. It's us! We are the soldiers!"

A vibrant young man, with a high spirit, was seen arguing with another person. The other person then pinches his forehead with his fingers while looking at the young man.

"Soldier, you listen to me. What we do know is executing orders. If you don't do that, then you should not be serving the country then."

"But sir! This is una-"

"I won't accept your rejection, Soldier Azule. Either you follow or quit from soldiers!"

"..."

The young man, Azule was forced to keep quiet and can only watch while his superior gave the order that he doesn't want to follow. Forcing normal citizens to join the war. In other words, conscripted army. For him, he doesn't have a choice. He hopes that someone will change this hell...

Next day

The war troop finally moved and Bai was moving with one of the brigades, the mercenaries. Bai was thinking of some stuff while moving. Beside the mercenaries were the soldiers from the kingdom. One of the soldiers, Azule already grumbling about the job he needed to do and thought to himself.

'I hope I can survive this war...'

'I hope this war can be a training for me'

Two thoughts. Two goals. The same objective. In hope of surviving the first war, both will be in. Neither will know how will they meet nor how will they end. One thing for sure is that this war will be an eyes opener for at least one of them.

Fate had turned toward the destiny that both of them played. The story of blood and friendship will blooms in the flower of corpses, hoping to find salvageable moments in time.
