Chapter 14 - I am Felix, but not 'Felix the Hero'

"Wren?" I called out, but she didn't reply. Tears continued to roll down her face as she stared motionlessly at the human doll Theodore had showed us.

"Felix..." Wren mumbled once again. Why? Why is she calling my name while staring at the human doll? Is she confusing me with the human doll? I did have white hair before, but she's never met me before my hair turned red or remembers the future, so how could that be?

"What's going on?" I turned to ask Theodore, "what's wrong with Wren? Is there a spell casted on the human doll?" There must be a mental spell placed on that doll right? I've never seen Wren look upset before let alone cry like this, so without being affected by magic, how could she show such a weak side?

"I didn't place any spells on the human doll," replied Theodore.

"But she's acting like she's hypnotised. It's kind of like the effect your mermaid had on me when I stared at her."

"She's crying out of her own violation. Perhaps she recognises him? Maybe before he came to me the two of them had a fight and they never made up with each other," said Theodore.

"Who?" I asked. Who is 'he'?

"I based the human doll's look off of the hero that told me about the roles of heroes and villains," answered Theodore.

"So this is..." I stared at the unmoving human doll. That's what Wren's hero looks like.

"What a surprise huh?" spoke Theodore, "it seems he has the same name as you Infermel." After hearing Theodore's words, I now understand why Wren was calling for me while staring at the human doll. Well, she wasn't calling me, she was calling her hero.

Another thought then hit me. Wren's hero looked strikingly similar to me. He looked like an older version of me when I had white hair, the only difference in our looks being his white eyes while I have blue ones. We even have the same name. Could it be that Wren agreed to let me go under her wing when I was 16 because I reminded her of him? Could it be that she never saw me, 'Felix Infermel', but she saw 'Felix', her hero, when looking at me? Am I just simply a substitute that Wren imagines is her hero to ease her pain? No I... I refuse to believe that but, why else would Wren help me?

If I didn't look like her hero, she would've just taken me straight to Lianne village and kept me there with the other villains, not try to help me achieve my dream. The reason why she wasn't able to do that may be because of the Infermels, but dad might actually agree to let her take me if she simply said it was for 'training purposes' or to 'protect me from the others who always thought of me as criminal'. Wren could've even taken me without consent and I might never be found again. The Infermels would try to look for me, but Lianne village doesn't exist in maps and the only ones that know of it is the king and the people living there. So does that really mean...

"Wren," I grabbed Wren's hand with both of mine, "I'm right here Wren." I held a desperate and pained expression, continuously tugging and pulling on Wren's hand. "Wren," my eyes were watery, but not a singly tear rolled down my

face, "... please."

Theodore who was watching on the side held a complicated expression. He could see the pain in Felix's eyes as he called out to Wren who was still staring motionlessly at the human doll. "Felix...?!" Theodore was about to approach the red haired male when a burst of white flames appeared, covering Felix. "Felix!" Theodore shouted Felix's name, but the red haired male didn't react and continued to call for Wren.

Feeling a burning sensation on her hand, Wren snapped out of her daze and turned to look next to her with widened eyes. "Felix... what are you doing?" Wren asked me, yanking her hand out of my hold.

"Wren... why?" this time, I wasn't as unaware as before. I could tell that when I said 'why', it sounded like someone else was also talking. It was like Lucas's voice earlier.

"Felix no- you're not Felix," Wren said under her breath. My heart began to ache even more. How? How am I not Felix? I'm the same person so how could I not be me? Or... are you talking about your hero?

The fire covering me became bigger. I turned to look at the human doll with hatred, anger and jealousy. If I was here first, would Wren call out my name for me, not for you? If I was the 'original' and a hero, would I get to have the happiness that you experienced?!

I charged towards the human doll with the intention to destroy it, but Wren appeared in front of it with sparks of purple lightning on her feet, defending it. "Felix, back down."

"Why should I listen? Do I look like a dog to you?" my voice still sounded like there was two people talking.

"Felix, destroying the property of royalty is an offense," warned Wren. An offense? Haven't I already offended everyone by merely existing? Are you defending that human doll because of that reason or is it because it looks like your hero?

"Move. If I offend a member of royalty then I'll just destroy that whole family!" I said.

"You think you have the power to?" asked Wren.

"You said it yourself, Cyrus's powers are stronger than the powers of fakes."

Wren gritted her teeth, speechless. "You're not like him. You're not like him at all," she mumbled.

"Not like who? Your hero? I'm sorry but I'm not his fucking replacement!" the tears building up in my eyes finally rolled down my face.

"Felix... I didn't mean to-"

"I think we should stop this for now," Theodore interrupted Wren. "How about you guys stay here for the night?"

"Yes..." said Wren. "I'll be staying in my previous room then," Wren then left.

"Wren!" I called out towards her, about to go after her to finish the conversation when someone placed their hand on my shoulder.

"Don't," Kelan shook his head, "I don't think the two of you talking about that would end up good." I panicked realising I was still covered in flames and looked at Kelan's hand, but luckily it was covered by water which prevented any burn or injuries.

"Please refrain from doing dangerous actions all of a sudden," said Theodore, "if I didn't react in time then your hand would've been burnt."

"It's fine if my hand got burnt. I already have many scars, another won't hurt," Kelan stared at his hands.

"Where did they come from?" I asked, my flames disappearing.

"Wren."

"Wren... did that?" I was surprised.

"Yes," Kelan nodded.

"Why?"

"Because I was Felix's student. She felt betrayed when he left and took it out on me. I know she regretted it afterwards though. She continuously apologised after that and even had a break down in front of me," said Kelan.

"Even if she felt betrayed and her mental state wasn't stable, it's still not an excuse to do that to someone," spoke Theodore.

"No it's not, but at least she's self aware. She knows that I won't forgive her and doesn't expect me to."

"Do you blame her?" I questioned. I know that I myself had blamed Wren for many things. I don't know if it's her fault or mine, but I do know that neither of us are stable.

"Not only her, but I also blame Felix for leaving," replied Kelan.

"Why did he leave? He's your mentor, so do you know?" I asked.

"He left because Wren couldn't return his feelings. I think leaving for that reason is dumb, and so is feeling betrayed from someone leaving because you ignored their love for years. They're weak. The both of them," answered Kelan.

"Oh, is the hero Felix that weak?" Theodore seemed surprised. "He seemed like someone strong and smart when I was with him."

"You probably didn't spend enough time with him to know," said Kelan.

"Really? I thought I spent quite a lot of time with him."

"How long has it been since he left here?" asked Kelan.

"He only left yesterday," Theodore's answer shocked both me and Kelan.

"Do you think he'll come back?" I asked, "I need to see him as soon as possible."

"I'm not sure if he will. Is it an urgent matter?" Urgent? Not only is it an urgent matter but it's also about the survival of this nation. I need to know the prophecy that Wren's hero was talking about so I could go and stop the person who summoned the phoenix no matter what, even if it means cutting of their limbs to guarantee the safety of Kassiel.

I was about to grab Theodore by the shoulders and exclaim 'yes' even if it was disrespectful but, a gust a wind blew by and nearly cut off my hands if it wasn't for Kelan pulling me back by the collar.

"I didn't know a villain would be daring enough to steal something from a hero," a male voice spoke, but I don't recognise who it is.

"Felix," Kelan and Theodore spoke.

"Yeah?" I questioned.

"We're not talking about you," said Kelan, "we're saying that the voice belongs to 'Felix the hero'."

"What?" I stared at the silhouette walking down the stairs.

"Hey Theodore,," hero Felix waved at Theodore with a smile before turning to me with a completely different expression. No, it wasn't a cold expression but it was a much calmer as if he's talking to a stranger (which he is). "Hello villain."

"You don't really seem to like me," I said.

"I don't. You see, I don't really dislike villains but I specifically see you as 'true evil'," I suddenly remembered what Lucas mouthed me from his words. "So," he suddenly appeared behind Theodore, "I'm going to need you executed," he picked Theodore up with his arms under Theodore's knees and behind his back. "Bye bye," he smiled before disappearing with Theodore in his arms.

Kelan and I both stood there dumbfounded. Did he- did he just-?! I was completely speechless. Kelan and I turned to look at each other.

"Did we must witness the prince get kidnapped right in front of us...?" I said.

"I think Felix turned gay after Wren didn't return his feelings..." spoke Kellan.

… What the fuck?
