Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

Someone set a precedent, and the passersby flocked forward.

Eight wen is not a small amount, but many people in the small town often find a place to treat themselves to a good meal, so occasionally accepting a bowl of vermicelli for eight wen is acceptable.

Moreover, there are free side dishes! Among them is the pickled radish that has almost become legendary these days!

The pickled radish with pickled peppers is more suitable as a side dish in a heavy-tasting soup than the regular version.

In fact, cooking pickled pepper bamboo shoots in the soup is the best, but after all, it's not like you can 'find' bamboo shoots every day, and it will soon be summer, so the bamboo shoots in the mountains are getting a bit old, so white radish was used instead.

Chen Muxue only set up two tables; any more would interfere with others, so for a while, there were many people squatting by the roadside slurping noodles.

Many young men who favor white clothes learned a painful lesson during this noodle-slurping session, along with indelible red oil stains.

Hearing they could try the legendary pickled radish for free, many came rushing over, some even running straight out from the restaurant.

To become a hot spot, one must inevitably generate buzz before something goes on sale. When Chen Muxue noticed that the restaurant shopkeeper had no sincere intent, she directly set the price at fifty liang, far exceeding the actual value of the pickled radish, drawing public attention.

For the people of this small town, both money and the ubiquitous white radish are common encounters, effectively increasing the topic's discussion rate.

"Hungry? Have some meat buns to tide you over first."

With a limited number of people in the small town, they finally cooked up the last bowl of noodles for now, and Chen Muxue took out some meat buns she'd prepared and shared them.

Little Tiger wiped the sweat off his forehead: "Sect Leader, you eat too!"

Chen Muxue flashed a smile at him, took a big bite of a meat bun, and indicated that she was eating.

"Hey! The dishes are already in the pot! Come back!"

The waiter shouted hoarsely, but no one turned back because Chen Muxue's stall was just not far away, and the wafting aroma of spicy sour freshness was much more tempting than the somewhat stale greasy smell in the restaurant.

The restaurant shopkeeper watched from the second floor as the crowd gathered over there and the constantly rising steam, his eyes sinister.

In the distance, a team was approaching that area.

"Ha, let's see how long you can stay pleased."

"Make way, make way!"

A path was suddenly made in the noodle-slurping crowd, and several men holding long sticks appeared, the leader improperly wearing a government official's uniform.

"Who allowed you to set up a stall here?" The leader addressed Chen Muxue, his eyes surreptitiously darting around.

Chen Muxue did not expect such government officials to exist here and couldn't help but furrow her brows.

However, this expression was taken by that official as a sign of fear, and he smugly said, "Behave, and I'll give you some dignity."

He looked at the little girl sitting next to him: "Wow, whose little girl is this, so cute?"

As he spoke, he reached out to pinch the little girl's face, but his hand was slapped away by the approaching Chen Muxue.

That official was somewhat angered: "How dare you!"

He sniffed, snorted coldly, and said, "Give us some bowls, and I won't hold a grudge!"

He said this as he sat down unabashedly.

The people originally slurping noodles had long since backed away, but they were reluctant to put down their bowls, all secretly watching the drama while eating.

"You think you're worthy?" Chen Muxue looked up and down at that official.

He appeared to be in his thirties or forties, and being Foundation Establishment Seventh Rank is considered quite good among ordinary people.

The official sneered, kicking over the noodle-cooking stove: "You don't appreciate kindness, do you!"
