Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Warm Family Bonds 3

"Cough, cough..." In the middle of eating, Sun Li suddenly started coughing, her face turning pale, gasping as if she could not breathe.

Jiang Aiguo's expression changed, "Xiao Tian, your mom's asthma has flared up again, quickly go get the medicine."

Jiang Tian responded, used to the situation, and fetched the medicine for Sun Li to take.

The sudden turn of events caught Nianyang off guard, and her expression turned grave.

She almost forgot, her aunt has severe asthma, initially it only flared up occasionally, but it would become increasingly severe later.

In the previous lifetime, Sun Li died because she couldn't bear to spend money on hospital treatment. The asthma attack killed her, and Jiang Aiguo, devastated, committed suicide. The family was destroyed just like that.

Nianyang calculated with her fingers, there was still some time before Sun Li's condition worsened, and everything could still be changed. In this lifetime, she would stop this tragedy no matter what.

"Auntie, let me take your pulse." After Sun Li's face returned to normal, Nianyang said to her.

Although she couldn't use the lab to make medicine now, she could first understand Sun Li's condition. Once her Life Value accumulated enough, she'd be able to treat Sun Li's illness. Once Sun Li's asthma was cured, the Jiang Family could remain harmonious!

Sun Li was taken aback; Jiang Aiguo directly asked, "Yangyang, can you take pulses?"

Nianyang replied shyly, "I've recently developed an interest in medicine, read a lot of medical books, and just happened to learn a method to treat Auntie's asthma, so I wanted to give it a try."

Jiang Tian frowned, "How can anyone treat illnesses just by reading medical books? Yangyang, stop joking. My mom's condition isn't just a common cold or fever; a little carelessness could be fatal."

Jiang Aiguo and Sun Li looked at Nianyang with difficulty. They thought the same as Jiang Tian, feeling affection for Nianyang and satisfying her as much as possible usually, but in serious matters like life and death, they couldn't let Nianyang mess around.

Seeing the Jiang family didn't believe her, Nianyang smiled helplessly, about to explain, when suddenly there came a shout from outside, "Uncle Jiang, Aunt Jiang, is Nianyang girl with you?"

Nianyang recognized the voice and quickly went to the door to call out, "Saozi Jin, I'm here, do you need anything?"

The Golden Widow came in joyfully with a basket of eggs and a big hen, "Oh Nianyang girl, when I saw you weren't home, I guessed you'd be at your uncle's place. I especially brought these over for you. If I took them directly to your mom and dad, they'd surely end up in your sister's mouth. You know my family isn't well off, but this is my small token of gratitude. Please don't be offended; thank you for saving my Dou Dou's life."

Nianyang waved her hand, "Saozi Jin, you're too kind. As a doctor, it's only natural to save lives; there's no reason to accept gifts."

Moreover, she saved Dou Dou to gain some Life Value, this small advantage was not something Nianyang wanted to take.

The Golden Widow slapped her thigh, "No, no, you saved my Dou Dou, even if I have to give you my life in return, it's worth it. This is all I can offer now. If you don't accept this, I won't sleep easy tonight."

"Alright then, I'll accept it." Nianyang could only accept it reluctantly.

Behind her, the Jiang family was taken aback. Jiang Aiguo was the first to recover, stepping forward to ask, "Golden Widow, you said Nianyang saved Dou Dou, what's going on?"

The Golden Widow excitedly recounted the story of how Nianyang saved her son that morning.

The Jiang family was completely shocked, taking a long time to digest it after the Golden Widow left.

Jiang Tian looked impressed, "Yangyang, so you really can treat illnesses just by reading medical books?"

Jiang Aiguo looked proud, "That's my niece, truly smart."

"Auntie, you can rest assured and let me take your pulse now, right?" Nianyang blinked and said.

Sun Li smiled, "Seems we underestimated you, didn't expect you have a talent for being a doctor."

After taking Sun Li's pulse, Nianyang had a clear understanding of her condition, "Auntie, let me go home and draft a treatment plan and write the prescription, and then I can treat you."

"Alright, I'll be waiting." Sun Li readily agreed, though she didn't actually believe it.

Not that she looked down on Nianyang, but she knew how difficult her asthma, which had troubled her for more than ten years, was to handle.

Even the doctors at the clinic said it couldn't be cured, only managed with lifelong medication. So for a young girl like Nianyang, even if she knew some medicine, it couldn't possibly be cured.
