Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Black Market Turmoil 5

"Oh my, I didn't expect the head doctor to be possessed. No wonder we couldn't diagnose it!"

"Doctor Xu's medical skills are truly extraordinary; he can even diagnose symptoms of possession. It clearly shows his experience is far beyond ours!"

"Alas, it's pitiful. How did the head doctor become possessed? Even Hua Tuo reincarnated like Doctor Xu is helpless, then surely not even an Immortal could cure it!"

Doctor Xu's words and the crowd's discussions extinguished all hope in Madam Ruan's heart. Her eyes revealed an unbelievable sadness and despair, her entire body trembling. The housekeeper behind her quickly supported her, "Madam, take care of your health!"

"How... how could this happen!" Madam Ruan clutched her chest, tears streaming down. "My husband was perfectly fine. How could he have become possessed..."

Suddenly, Nianyang's calm and clear voice sounded from behind, instantly reaching everyone's ears, "Who said this head doctor is possessed?"

The crowd was stunned and followed the voice to see a young girl with delicate and beautiful features, yet thin and dark, clearly underage.

Doctor Xu, seeing himself being questioned by a little girl, immediately frowned and said displeased, "Little girl, are you questioning my judgment? I've practiced medicine for years, with rich treatment experience. The head doctor fell into a coma because of dirty things, possessed by evil, otherwise how could even a large hospital not find the symptoms?"

Doctor Xu's words prompted the other doctors to nod in agreement. Yes, the head doctor's illness is strange, and everyone is helpless. Isn't it just evil spirits at work?

Nianyang laughed, "What a possession by evil spirits! Our country has been reforming and opening up for so many years; the chairman said to eradicate the 'Four Olds,' feudal superstitions are not to be believed, to liberate people's thoughts. Yet as a doctor, you lack ideological awareness, and disguise your inability to diagnose by deceiving the patient's family with feudal superstitions. Is this the moral conduct of a doctor?"

Her gentle words were akin to a resounding slap that made Doctor Xu's face turn purple, and other doctors' faces also blushed!

Nianyang had invoked the chairman's words, what more could they dare to say?

Doctor Xu took a deep breath, suppressing his inner panic, and sternly said, "You... where did this wild girl come from, daring to speak nonsense here. If the head doctor's illness can't be diagnosed, if it's not possession, then what else could it be?"

Doctor Xu thought that since no one present could diagnose the head doctor's illness, if he insisted it was possession, who could prove him wrong?

Nianyang's lips subtly curled, and her shimmering eyes radiated a chill akin to winter frost, "Whether it's possession or not can be determined by checking the head doctor's pulse!"

Doctor Xu was taken aback, and Madam Ruan, grasping at straws, asked, "Little girl, do you mean you know a doctor who can help treat my husband?"

"No, I am the doctor." Nianyang calmly said, "I am a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner."

Madam Ruan stared at her in disbelief, a young girl claiming to be a doctor?

All the doctors looked at Nianyang incredulously, then laughed. All the doctors present were past middle age; how could they believe a teenage girl's word?

Doctor Xu, initially somewhat flustered, heard Nianyang's words and replied with cold sarcasm, "A teenage brat probably can't even distinguish medicinal herbs; yet she dares to claim herself a Chinese medicine practitioner. Is she treating us as fools?"

Madam Ruan pursed her lips, and the gleam in her eyes faded instantly.
