Old Mao paused, then quickly asked, "What do you want to learn, kiddo?"
"What do you think?" Wang Zhan smirked. The image of Old Mao moving like a meteor—so fast that Wang Zhan knew he'd be left in the dust—was still fresh in his mind. He quickly added, "The art of escaping!"
"No!" Old Mao refused, turning his face away.
"Do you know how many people want to learn my footwork techniques? People have even offered me a fortune, but I ignored them all. And you think you can learn it with just a few words? Who do you think you are?" Old Mao finished speaking and, without paying Wang Zhan any more attention, strode toward his small house.
Wang Zhan stood his ground, chuckling, not at all disheartened. He darted toward Old Mao again, quickly catching up. "Look," he said, "what if, after I learn this footwork technique, we go into the ancient ruins together? Don't you think that would be a good idea?"
"Don't you want to know what's inside the ancient ruins?"
