Chapter 189: Kaguya POV
KAGUYA POV
Kaguya remembered the world before she ate Chakra Fruit. Back then, she had been an intruder, fall in love with the rulers and finally being betrayed by her lover.
Before all the betrayal thing, she also happen to betrayed her clan. She had arrived with another man named Jigen with a simple mission, cultivate the Chakra Tree, harvest its fruit, and leave behind a planet drained of chakra. What happened to the creatures living upon it had never concerned her clan.
Earth was supposed to be no different, yet she could still remember looking down at its forests for the first time. There had been so much green, rivers wound between mountains, and smoke rose from small house where humans went about their lives, unaware of what had arrived above them.
Those people knew nothing about the Otsutsuki and they did not know that everything they possessed could disappear because two strangers had decided their world was ready to be harvested.
At first, Kaguya watched them out of curiosity, then she began to wonder what it would be like to remain in this world.
That thought was dangerous, her clan had given her a duty. There was no place to save this planet from Otsutsuki Clan.
Jigen would certainly never have allowed it. Even now, she remembered watching him near the Ten-Tails, waiting for the moment when his attention shifted away from her.
She had been afraid because the requirement to get a fully matured fruit, is to sacrifice the body by letting ten tails it one of them.
Kaguya was afraid of dying, although her clan specialty is Karma Mark. The same one that she was using for Black Zetsu.
Karma Mark is like a clone, it can rewrite someone DNA if it was sealed on that person and changed it to permanent clone.
In conclusion, she was afraid of dying, she didn't believe Karma Mark would let he reborn, the seal itself would most likely rewrite the other people and create another clone. That is why a main clan had asked branch members like her to do a sacrifice.
One the day opportunity finally came, she pushed Jigen to the mouth of ten tails.
For an instant, his expression held nothing but disbelief.
Then the Ten-Tails' mouth closed around him.
Kaguya had stood there afterwards, staring at the place where he had vanished. She expected him to tear his way free. Every movement of the creature made her brace herself for his return and he did not emerge.
She had betrayed her clan and abandoned her mission.
There would be consequences if her clan discovered what she had done, but for the first time, there was no one beside her issuing orders.
She was free to stay and so she did.
...
A few days living on this planet are bizarre experience to her, at first humans were difficult to understand.
They had such short lives, yet they spent so much of them quarrelling over land, titles, and money that would be forgotten within a few generations.
A ruler could order hundreds of people to die over old age and sometimes show empathy and ruthlessness
The same ruler might weep when his own child became ill.
Kaguya had found that was foolish, still she is willing to learn more about them. It was at that time she meet Tenji, the emperor and both of them had fallen in love with each other.
It was not until she was betrayed by Tenji, it was funny that she was the one who betrayed her clan first and now she was being betrayed by her husband.
She found it hard to believe, her short happy live finally come to an end.
The man she loved betrayed her and the only person who close to her, died in her arm.
Even after all this time, recalling it brought back the same bewilderment. She remembered searching his face, waiting for him to withdraw his order or tell her there had been some mistake.
Instead, she had been forced to flee.
Someone precious to her had died during that flight, her name is Aino. That memory remained painfully clear a familiar voice.
She had kept moving because stopping would have meant betraying Aino, her loyal maid.
At the time, she had only known that she needed power. Enough power that no ruler could order her death. Enough that nobody could take another person from her while she stood helplessly nearby.
The chakra fruit offered exactly that, Kaguya had taken it for herself.
She could still remember the first surge of chakra spreading through her body. Her senses expanded until the people pursuing her seemed pitifully small. Their weapons no longer frightened her.
She had looked at them and wondered how she had ever been afraid and with a great power, she lost a great empathy to other human being.
Except her children Hagoromo and Hamura.
