"That place?!" Yang Qing repeated, his voice almost a squeal. If there was one location in the entire Order that matched his fear of the Instructors, it was that one. The Purple Forest was the infamous site of the Purple Grade tests for new Institute applicants—if it could even be called a test, given its brutality. Everything was purple: the trees, the undergrowth, the ground, the water, and even the sky. The light was purple, the clouds were purple. The only things not purple were the bloodthirsty spirit beasts that called it home, and the blood they spilled there, which was one of the primary reasons Yang Qing and many others feared that place.
About the only good thing there was the rich spiritual qi and environment, which was no less abundant than that created by a mature dragon vein—an effect he had, until now, assumed was behind it.
