"Don't be so nervous in answering… Student Xin. Go ahead and try answering my question. Who among all the Mages should really have a deep understanding and knowledge of Magic Circles or just Magic Theory in general?" Mio asked with a light smile as she looked at the Student's ID and read out his name so she could converse with that specific student properly.
"I… Ahhh… Ummm. I believe that Control Mages should be the ones who master it, as Control Magicians are both Offense, Defense, and sometimes even support, because they are the all-rounder of all Magicians, as they set the flow of the fight." Xin answered nervously while fidgeting with his fingers as he held the mic tightly in his hands.
Mio simply nodded her head as she listened thoroughly to the answer of the student, which wasn't the answer she was expecting, because she thought that almost every student would think of either the Support or the Attack-oriented mages, as they're the most important backline and frontline in a fight. However, she was glad to hear a different answer than what she had guessed.
"Interesting choice indeed. Might give an example, who do you know that is a Control Mage that actually excels in Magic Theory, doesn't matter if they're famous or not. Just give me an example and elaborate further." Mio asked as she rolled the wheelchair a little closer to the edge of the podium so she could see everyone better.
"I… I think the best person that I could use as an example is… or rather, it would be the Great Saintess who just recently showed herself again… She is probably the best Control Magician. I know that the Grand Saintess isn't inherently on the battlefield. But because of her extreme dedication, blood, and sweat to create the most advanced Magic Circles at the time, everyone benefited from that." Xin said, and when everyone turned quiet, it made him extremely nervous; not even quiet whispers were heard in the hall.
Nervous because people might think that his words are extremely offensive for saying such things to the Grand Saintess, even if he doesn't mean it in that way. There would be people who would twist his words into saying that the Grand Saintess can only make Magic Circles because she is useless, as she doesn't have any battle prowess at all.
"Control Magician? That is the first time I have heard of that… Has the Grand Saintess publicly stated that she's a Control Magician because I have never heard of such news before?" Mio was slightly shocked after hearing such a thing because she had never said or even hinted such a thing before that she was a Control Mage, and she had never fought once as a Control Magician as the Grand Saintess before, so such news was news to her because she would 100% know her history more than anyone.
But it wasn't just her who was shocked by such a revelation, even the other professors, especially the old timers, were not expecting that student to make such an example, because none of them also have heard the Grand Saintess publicly stating that she's a Control Magician because most of her life she's been in just in her Magic Tower doing research.
"I think that you have misunderstood something, Student Xin. Even though the Grand Saintess has indeed in fact participated in a few Dungeon Raids and Fights, even that was all for the sake of research, and you might have confused her with being a Control Magician because of how she uses her Magic. But I hope we're not forgetting the fact that is that the Grand Saintess doesn't have that much of a strong affinity to Mana, that is a fact that everyone knows, so I hope none get offended if I said that." A Professor of the Basic Magic said with a light smile before continuing.
"That is why we don't consider the Grand Saintess a Control Magician, because she's definitely not built on the battlefield. But her brain and extreme deep understanding of Magic above everyone is probably what made you think she's a Control Magician because of how she fully utilizes Magic Circles to control the battlefield." The Professor added, to which the other Professor also nodded their heads before chiming in with their own words, and with this. Xin finally understood something, so he simply looked at the Professors before bowing his head as thanks.
"Well… since your example is a little flawed, anyone here can give me a proper example of what kind of Magician should fully learn Magic Circles apart from the researchers, such as the Grand Saintess herself?" Mio asked since she didn't need to explain why the Grand Saintess is a bad example, so she just continued with her lesson question for everyone.
But seeing no more students even dared to raise their hands, she took a quick look at the other Professors to see if they had someone in mind. But after seeing the other Professors trying to hide from her gaze, she chuckled at this, as no one seemed to want to or they're not confident with their answer because they might lose some face and confidence if they answered incorrectly.
"Professor Carol… How about sharing your idea with the Class? You have been pondering them for a while now after all…" Mio chuckled after seeing Carol stand up like a frightened cat, clearly not expecting to get special mention by her. But since her spotlight was already on her, she couldn't do anything about it and just tried her best to answer.
"Aiyaaa… Why did you have to put me in the spotlight… Professor Mio. But I'm not gonna stay far away from what Student Xin says because I also agree that Control Mages are the ones who should fully utilize and actually spend time learning Magic Circles, because I know for a fact that there are more Supportive/Control Types of Magic Circles out there, courtesy of the Grand Saintess. So the person I chose as an example is probably going to be General Javier of America, or maybe he's much more well-known for this title… The Angel Tyrant." Caroline said after much debating in her head whether she should say this person's name.
"Angel Tyrant… It's been such a long time since I heard of that infamous name. But yeah… I guess Angel Tyrant does fit the Control Mage that all of you have been saying. Though this is mostly a trick question since every answer is bound to be right, I just really want to hear your guys' perspective. But as for Javier… he's definitely the best suited answer if you're going for a Control Magician because he's considered the crownless king for that spot. As his Battle IQ and, on top amazing Situational Awareness, he's definitely the best Control Magician, especially with the wins that he gave to America in his duty and prime." Mio said with a light smile as she began to reminisce about a little man on the battlefield commanding a small amount of army of just about 50,000.
'I still remember this little punk like it was yesterday… This little punk is one of the few reasons why I still didn't nuke America to the ground because he's such an important person for the world. His presence alone and his Control over a battlefield are simply monstrous.' Mio smiled to herself.
