It had been exactly thirty-three days since I had last seen Benedito.
Thirty-three days since he had pushed my hand away and walked out of the hospital room without a backward glance. I had made the nearly two day flight without Benedito's jet. It was the weirdest experience to be at a public airport again, especially with a baby. Everyone looked at me with concern as I cried and Danilo probably cried harder.
I had packed our bags in such a hurried frenzy and driven myself to the airport after booking our tickets online. No security followed me and I had to constantly look over my shoulder hoping that someone was not following Danilo and me.
When we finally landed in Texas, I did not know where to go. The mansion? The ranch? The last time everyone saw me, Benedito and I were the image of love. Then there I was not even three weeks later after our wedding, holding a baby, pregnant and with three travelling bags that reached my waist.
