Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

<==============================>

After they descended underground, the hidden door closed behind them and the place became dark enough that they weren't able to see their own hands.

Then suddenly a strong light illuminated the whole place, that they had to raise their hands in front of their faces to protect their eyes from how bright it was.

After their eyes finally got used a bit for the light, the last person stepped on the floor, then the stairs began to rise above their heads and merge with the hideout's roof perfectly. Everyone other than the people from The Shelter was astonished from the high tech, even Noah. 'I don't remember ever seeing this kind of technology in the world of HxH before, other than the Hunter exam of course.'

Before they could ask or say anything, the old man ordered them, "Now, follow me closely and don't go anywhere because one wrong move....will become your final one." Saying that with his threatening tone, made them all nod slightly from how scared they were.

Then they began walking.

The seconds became minutes. The minutes became hours, and they are still moving without stopping. They all were soaked in sweat and when they thought of just giving up, they remembered what the old man said and continued to walk after him out of fear.

When the old man took a look at them and saw how tired they were and about to fall from exhaustion. He turned to his right going to the wall directly, they all looked at him puzzled, however they widened their eyes in amazement after they saw a door opening from the wall and went inside

They followed him inside and what they saw was a three different routs, every route going to a different direction.

Going through the one in the left, they continued walking for less than five minutes, until they stopped in front of a huge double door and went inside.

A bunch of people who looks like gangsters sitting around a meeting table, stared at them when they arrived with eyes that looked like it was about to devour them.

They gulped their saliva, scared from how those gangster like people look at them. The old man broke the silence, "You know it's not good if you kept staring at our 'Guests' like that. You are scaring them a bit." Saying this while chuckling.

Then he made his way to the front chair. After sitting he said looking at them with a smile, "I think I still didn't introduce myself probably. I am Oliver Charles, The Shelter's head."

----Noah's Pov----

We all widened our eyes in disbelief. Who would think that the old man that came to kidnap us himself would be The Shelter's head. But why? Why did he-

"Of course you would be asking 'Why did you kidnap us?' even though I said that before but I will tell you more about that." Oliver relaxed on his chair then looked at us with piercing eyes.

Smiling a bit, he started explaining. "There are more than one thing you can do here in The Shelter." Then raising one finger he continued, "1: IG or information gathering. You can say the technology here is more advanced than a lot of places and companies around the world, but even with the high tech not a lot of people know or can use this technology, so we train those who we consider talented in using our technology."

"But those who doesn't have talent in that, don't worry, we have more than one way to gather information you know." Said another muscular guy who was flexing his muscles, wearing only a jacket without even closing it and nothing underneath. He was sitting on the left side of Oliver, while licking his lips and giving the caretakers a strange look.

"Jason can you not interrupt me while I'm talking again?" Oliver said, looking at Jason dead in the eye.

"Ok, ok fine. I just thought you forgot it, so I said it in your place." Jason said, putting his hands in front of his face while having a cheeky smile.

Oliver narrowed his eyes a bit, then he sighed shaking his head.

After that he looked at us to continue what he was saying. "Well going back to our talk. We don't do only information gathering, and that's take us to the second thing."

Raising two fingers this time continuing what he was saying. "2: Savants. It's for those who are good and have talent in learning different kind of things and illustrate them, like how in chemistry with some reaction between components you can make an explosion, or how with some psychology you can change someone's way of thinking and even his own beliefs."

Raising three fingers. "3: Mechanic. Those are the ones who make the devices we use, phones, cars, trucks, guns, grenades, knives etc. And they are one of the most important individuals, cause without them we would have paid a lot of money to get those things."

Raising four fingers, he continued but this time his smile widened. "Last but not least, 4: Hitmen." We all widened our eyes after hearing that last part.

"Those are one of the most if not the most important individuals we have here in The Shelter. Because we don't want any of the organization or companies to use our own technology against us, so we use the Hitmen as a main way to rise either with money or with fame."

"But no matter what, the human body have it's limit. That's why I found a way to break those called 'limit' in all of the four branches." Then he relaxed again on his chair while shaking his right hand in front of his face. "However you don't need to know the way to do that. Not now at least."

We all gulped from what he said just now, 'no matter how you look at it, those people are either crazy or have something wrong in their mind, and from the looks of it, the outcome will not be good at all.'

Then he opened his eyes suddenly and looked at us saying, "Oh before I forget, you will have to train in every aspect no matter what branche you're working at. You can say that's just so you will not have a weakness or an obvious one at least."

'Yep, now I am sure the outcome will not be good.'

After that he told his men to take us to where we will sleep. He separated the caretakers from us first, then the girls.

But when we were going to what I assume our bedrooms, there was a room that I heard screams coming out of it. Me and the other kids face lost its color and became pale, and when I asked him what's going on there he only said one sentence that made our whole body shiver in fear.

"That's where the people here 'Break their own limits'."
