Chapter 4 - Exposed

"Hey, Haru, I was thinking. Instead of heading to a hotel, how about crashing at my dorm for the night? It's not too far from here," Ren suggested, flashing his signature cat-like grin.

Haru's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? Are you sure that's okay?"

Ren gave him a playful pat on the back. "Of course! Besides, hot pot is way better when you share it. We'll make it a mini celebration for surviving the auditions."

Haru smiled shyly, his soft features lighting up. "Thank you. That sounds really nice."

Traveling light, Haru didn't mind changing his plans. They soon arrived at the Jintai Entertainment dorms, a sleek, modern building buzzing with energy. It housed both seasoned stars and aspiring talents, its halls lined with posters of successful idols. Haru's excitement mingled with awe as they made their way inside.

When they reached Ren's dorm, he opened the door to a cozy living space. "Welcome to my humble abode. I share it with one other guy, but he's out today," Ren explained, gesturing toward the open living and dining area. Three adjoining doors led to bedrooms, with one of them being used as extra storage.

Haru's gaze wandered around the space. "It's really nice. Do you need help with anything?"

Ren shook his head and gently nudged Haru toward the couch. "Nope! You're the guest. Just sit tight; I'll handle everything."

Despite feeling a bit awkward being waited on, Haru complied. He settled into the couch and observed as Ren busied himself in the kitchen, gathering ingredients and setting up the hot pot. The rhythmic clatter of utensils and the bubbling of the broth created a comforting backdrop.

Soon, they were seated at the dining table. As steam rose from the pot, Ren expertly added vegetables and slices of meat, the fragrant aroma filling the air.

"Haru, you really shone in the audition today," Ren said, breaking the silence. "Your talent is undeniable."

Blushing, Haru scratched the back of his head. "Thank you. That means a lot, especially coming from someone with experience."

Ren's expression turned thoughtful. "The industry can be dazzling, but it's also tough. There are things behind the scenes you might not expect. It's important to stay cautious."

Haru tilted his head, his curiosity piqued. "What do you mean?"

Ren leaned back in his chair, choosing his words carefully. "Not everyone in this business has good intentions. There are people who might take advantage of your kindness or naivety. It's a competitive world, and there are unspoken rules. You've got to stay grounded and protect yourself."

Haru's expression grew serious as he absorbed Ren's advice. "I'll keep that in mind. I just want to make people happy with my performances."

Ren's serious demeanor softened, and he smiled. "And you can. Just don't lose sight of who you are, okay?"

Before the conversation could continue, the door burst open with a loud crash. Haru jumped, his rabbit instincts kicking in as his long, fluffy ears popped out involuntarily. He clamped his hands over them, his face burning with embarrassment.

"I'm back!" a loud voice declared. Ren's roommate, Ryu, entered with theatrical flair. However, tonight, he surpassed even his own standards. The door swung open dramatically, and Ryu burst in, loudly complaining about a challenging day. Haru, lost in conversation jumped, his rabbit instincts on high alert, causing his ears to pop out involuntarily. Which he quickly covered.

Ren couldn't help but laugh shouting back to Ryu before turning back to Haru "Hey! We have a guest. Haru, are you okay?"

Haru blushed furiously, attempting to hide his bunny ears. "I-I'm fine. Just got startled, that's all."

Ren chuckled, teasingly. "You know, you've got a cute side, Haru. Those rabbit ears of yours are quite the giveaway."

Ren playfully ruffled Haru's hair. "No need to cover them. It suits you. Besides, there's no need to hide it. There are many spirits in the world, especially in showbiz."

Embarrassed but unable to suppress a smile, Haru sighed knowing his attempt at hiding failed. "I can't control them when I'm startled. It's a reflex."

Ryu came over where Ren introduced them both, Ryu couldn't resist teasing Haru reaching out to touch the long ears hanging on Harus head "Rabbit ears, huh?"

Haru moved away slightly to avoid the paws of Ryu while Ren eased the atmosphere.

Ren, always observant, leaned in with a playful glint in his eyes pointing at himself "Speaking of spirits, Haru, can you guess what spirit I am?"

Haru was surprised but not too surprised since Ren nor Ryu reacted much to himself.

Haru thought for a moment, studying Ren's features. "Hmm, Maybe a cat spirit?"

Ren chuckled, pleased by Haru's attempt. "Not quite, but close. I'm actually a fox spirit."

Haru's eyes widened. "A fox spirit? Really?"

Ryu, who had been listening intently, leaned in with a mischievous grin. "Hey, while we're at it, let me tell you what I am. I'm from the dragon spirit line!"

Ren raised an eyebrow, grinning. "You mean you're a gecko," he teased.

"Hey! A dragon's a dragon, no matter the size!" Ryu shot back defensively, crossing his arms and puffing out his chest.
