Chapter 64 - Special Chapter - Tribute to the Thylacines and Benjamin

The Thylacine was a rare species of animals which are only found in Australia and more specifically Tasmania, and had lived in relative peace and quiet in their own ecosystems following their natural cycles and instincts.

That was until the British decided that they wanted to get their land for themselves as they conquered it like they always did and so brought their people and cattle there. And Thylacine's, being carnivorous did find the new cattle as good food for themselves, alongside the rest of the already existing animals of their land.

Naturally, due to the fact that the Thylacine is a species which is carnivorous and is a danger to the cattle, the British people put a bounty on the animals, promising rewards for those who were able to kill the said creatures.

Of course, all the while completely ignoring the fact that Thylacine's never attacked or hurt any humans, nor the fact that their attacks on the cattle were very rare occurrences. The British had put the bounty on the Thylacine, not because of the fact that they were a danger to the people and cattle, on the contrary they only had some interactions with the new species and would spend their time away from the humans and cattle.

They were hunted down, not because of the fact that they were dangerous to them, but because they were, bluntly a nuisance to the British. Despite the fact that the animals were harmless, it wasn't enough for the people as they were still scared of the Tasmanian Tiger due to its appearance.

And of course, the higher ups and the more brave ones didn't care about the fact that they were harmless, the only thing they cared about was the fact that they could get money from killing them, and so callous hunters started to hunt these animals for sport.

And so for 70 years, the Thylacine were hunted one by one, killed mercilessly for the mere fact that they exist in the world and that humans found their existence to be a nuisance for them. Until there was only left in the world.

The last living member of the Thylacine species, living in the Hobart Zoo, named Benjamin by the humans at the zoo and taken care of callously and without much care. Time passed as it had become the last of its species and then on September 7th of 1936, it laid in its cage, in the frigid winter night, cold and alone as it became aware of the fact that none of the humans are going to give it comfort or warmth.

It was shivering in its place, not having the company of any other living thing, in a cage without a shred of care from its captors as it shivered in its cage, long since stopped trying to call for help to get out of the cold.

That was until a warm light shone in front of the animal and Benjamin opened its eyes and blinked in confusion. It's eyes widened when a winged angel appeared from the light, more specifically, Zadkiel as he landed on the ground in front of the animal, his foot not putting any sort of footprint in the snow.

It's eyes widened at the sight of the being which it instinctively knew to not be human, and it also felt calm and safe in his presence as Benjamin made a sound as the angel smiled at the animal.

He walked forward and kneeled in front of the animal and pet its head as it leaned into his palm as it felt safe from the touch. Zadkiel smiled at the animal as he felt for it as he spread warmth over its body.

"Do you wish to reunite with the rest of your kind?" Zadkiel asked the animal.

It whined in response to his question as he felt the sadness and loneliness it felt due to its isolation from others of its kind.

"Don't worry. I will take you to a place where no humans exist to capture you. You will be able to live with your kind there without worry." Zadkiel said to the animal.

Benjamin felt some energy when it heard that as Zadkiel smiled at the eagerness of the animal to get back with more of its kind as he spread his wings around it. Benjamin let him as it closed its eyes as it's soul was gently taken from its body and held in the angel's arms.

Benjamin looked at its body in surprise but calmed down as Zadkiel made sure to reassure the animal before the both of them disappeared from the place, the last member of the Thylacine species, now dead from the world, physically at the very least.

Zadkiel brought the animal's soul with him to a special dimension as he gave its another body, modelled after its own body, as Benjamin found itself with a body once more. He entered the dimension and Benjamin was mesmerized by the sight of the lush and beautiful forest in the new place, while it's ears pricked up due to it hearing the howls and noises of its species.

Zadkiel quickly placed it on the ground as it immediately sprinted to find its kind as he chuckled at the enthusiasm of the animal to meet more of its kind, something which he can understand as he watched it run and meet up with more of its kind.

Alongside the Thylacine, there were also other species of animals there, all living there with joy and harmony as they played and did whatever they pleased, now being able to enjoy their time together without worry from the humans.

Zadkiel glanced at Tiamat who was watching it all happen with a smile, animals surrounding her and sleeping beside her form as she watched her dimension and its inhabitants with joy as she smiled brightly at the sight.

Zadkiel stayed silent as he just smiled while hovering beside her, as the woman looked at her husband and smiled faintly as the two watched Benjamin play with its people with joy and carefree elation.

"Ahhh ah ahh." [What about the humans?] Tiamat asked him curiously, as she felt sad for the species and angry at the humans for what they had done.

"All those who were responsible for the pain suffered by Benjamin and his kin will get the punishment for their sins." Zadkiel said with steel in his voice as the goddess smiled and nodded.

The two didn't say anything, and neither was there any need to do so, as they enjoyed the tranquil and wonderful atmosphere in front of them as the two smiled.

A/N: Yeah, so it has been a month since the last update and I suppose it has been going for a while now, and I haven't been active in the platform as well.

Well, first of all, I'm sorry that it's taking so long to update, a lot of things are happening IRL for me, what will adulthood and all, gosh I have no idea what to do about the future, everything has become to complicated and unsure now that I have no concrete idea what to do.

My home situation and family and parental situation is not the best so it's best to not talk about it. What with their disappointment at me and all of that due to scoring low marks due to my problems and all. And there has also seen one more problem that I had been dealing with.

While I don't like to say this, I suppose I have kept it in for long enough. To put it simply, I have been suffering from mental issues for almost a year now, and it's been hard, to deal with all these out of control thoughts, feelings and so on while dealing with the stress of life.

I think I got depression some time back but I don't know, perhaps I am still suffering from it. Oh yeah, I also didn't check with a professional for a diagnosis since my parents think that they would mark me as crazy and take me away.

And even then they started to treat me like I have gone mad, which is why I have been acting like I am normal in front of everyone, absolutely everyone despite the struggles and I have managed to keep it up for almost a full year now, or maybe a year has already passed since it started.

I have been spending a better part of my time playing games, watching videos, reading books to keep some semblance of peace of mind and I think I am slowly healing from this problem, and I hope that I won't have to deal with these symptoms. It's OCD esque symptoms that I am feeling for the last month's if you wanted to know.

Yeah, I havent been writing much for a while now and considering how many people read this book of fine, I'm sure many are disappointed due to the lack of updates and I understand and ask for your forgiveness for that.

I wanted to pay a tribute to the Thylacines after learning about their fates, and also fuck you imperial Britishers for your oppression and destruction of animals and the Thylacines.

I don't know when I will udpate this and my others books, but I do hope that I will be able to recover from this and not have to worry about my mind from time to time.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter I have written and thank you for giving me your support.
