Chapter 315 - A Word of Advice

"Y-yeah? Everything's fine," Alicia stammered, still confused by the rapid-fire questions. "Why'd you a—" Her words cut off as the phone slipped from her hand, landing with a soft thud. She bent slightly, frowning, to retrieve it.

"I think your question just answered itself, Delbert," Adrien said, his voice cold and controlled as he ended the call.

Alicia froze, pulse jumping as the sound reached her ears. Her gaze inched around and there he was, one step from her, the morning sun highlighting the planes of his face sharp. His eyes flared into hers, searing and impassive, the phone motionless in his hand, screen dark after he hung up.

She swallowed hard, eyes scanning him, shirt unbuttoned, hair mussed, a gorgeous mess that had nearly made her forget she was mad in the first place. Clearing her throat, she forced herself to meet his eyes. "What... what was all that about?" she asked, trying for steady but failing as her voice trembled slightly.
