Chapter 98 - Turning Tide

In the eerie evening mist, Ryker held his staff at the ready, a frosty vapor escaping his lungs as he exhaled.

Despite the intensity of their fight, the commotion seemed to be muted within the misty alleys. The residents of the Xinjian District slept soundly through the whole ordeal... or perhaps they just knew better than to poke their head out when two cultivators were having a difference of opinion at night.

[17 minutes, 34 seconds on 'borrowing',] Mini C said. Ryker nodded, closing his eyes and breathing in.

The spells he had at his disposal were limited, and his own lack of mana control and the inefficiency of his simplified focus meant he couldn't keep them up for long… but it would be enough.

The real question was if he could close things out in time, or if he would need to start thinking about an exit strategy. Whatever the case, though, he couldn't let this opportunity get away.
