Chapter 89 - Khazthorim's Station

The towering gates of the grand dwarven kingdom loomed before Gerard, Alder, and their loyal dwarven companions. The giant stone walls surrounding the kingdom stood as a show of dwarven dedication and craftsmanship. Atop the walls, dozens of majestically designed ballistae swivelled at the slightest movement from their operators.

"Aren't dwarves supposed to live underground?"

"Aye, that's what the other races think before visitin'. We work inside the mountains, our king lives inside the mountains, and our forges are inside the mountains. But those who don't mine, smelt, or forge, all live in the city above ground."

"Sorry for making assumptions."

"No need to be sorry. We give humans leniency because of their brief lifespan; the elves, on the other hand, don't get any such leniency."

"I see..."

The many ballistae followed their every movement.
