Third Person POV.
The Wall.
...
...
Then the time for battle had come. The dead advanced, and they certainly had not come unprepared. As they built their massive snowstorm to help them advance.
Odahviing stood atop the Wall, watching. The other three dragons circled overhead, especially the fire dragons, which would be the ones used.
The entire Wall was stocked with every kind of equipment and arrows to deal with the dead, but above all, men.
Daemon had given a speech atop the Wall to everyone. His voice reached the hundreds of thousands of people before he mounted his dragon and leaped from the Wall, and everyone turned their attention to the massive snowstorm.
When the storm reached the front of the Wall, Daemon's voice erupted across the skies with his Thu'um, "Lok Vah Koor," and the entire storm vanished the very next moment.
Before everyone's eyes, the Night King's army of 300,000 dead emerged. Everyone prepared themselves, but it was not yet the ideal moment, as they were still well beyond where they had placed the wildfire trap assembled by the Lord Commander and the men of the Night's Watch.
Daemon had no way of entering the middle of the army to ignite the wildfire barrels inside those tunnels, not while several White Walkers stood there, ready with spears to hurl at him. Daenerys also flew beside him, while he asked her to move a little farther away so he could focus on the task of detonating those barrels.
Daemon flew to the designated location above the dead. He took one of the oval glass vials containing a purple liquid. It was an alchemical formula that exploded upon contact with oxygen, producing a massive combustion. Thanks to his Master Alchemist abilities, acquired in Skyrim, he had also inscribed several runes to further amplify the explosion.
There were no trapdoors being opened or anything of the sort. All the wildfire was buried beneath the ground, while the army of the dead continued marching toward the Wall, stepping over it without realizing the danger awaiting them.
Daemon began throwing the vials. They fell directly onto the army, and as soon as they struck anything, the glass shattered. At that very instant, the combustion was triggered, exploding and opening enormous craters filled with purple flames.
At first glance, Daemon realized his attack had failed. Quickly, he began throwing more and more vials without stopping. He launched attack after attack, possessing a considerable stockpile of these explosive bombs, while the people on the Wall could only watch the explosions ravage the center of the army.
Several spears were hurled at the king and his dragon, which swiftly dodged them. However, that did not stop him from climbing higher, reaching a much safer altitude from the ice spears, while he continued hurling the potions.
It took some time, but when he threw his fourteenth potion, he finally achieved his goal. The vial struck the ground, and in the next instant, a blinding light engulfed everyone within the explosion created by the potion. It quickly spread in a brilliant flash before turning green, immediately flooding the entire army like a sea of flames, consuming a large portion of the dead.
This made everyone on the Wall erupt in cheers as they watched part of the army of the dead being consumed by the green flames. At least fifty thousand undead, who had been grouped together, were blown apart.
Even the Wall itself trembled from the blast. Daemon looked on with satisfaction as he continued soaring through the sky, now leaving the rest to the Wall.
The dead did not stop even after that and continued advancing rapidly. The forces began firing their dragonglass arrows, quickly destroying a large portion in the middle of the army. They did not shoot at the front ranks. They did not want the dead to have a chance to retreat quickly and waited for the right moment to try to bring down a few White Walkers first, and it worked.
As one White Walker, mounted on his horse, advanced through the middle of the dead, he saw the rain of arrows descending from the sky. There was no time to react. He could only watch his own death as he and his horse were pierced by several of them. Immediately, all the undead behind him also collapsed, as an entire section of the army fell with him, albeit only temporarily, as other White Walkers raised them once again.
The archers celebrated, but the commander, who was none other than Brynden Tully, kept shouting, maintaining the orders and coordinating the defense against the army of the dead.
More arrows were fired, while the enemy army grew smaller and smaller. The dead reached the Wall and began trying to climb it, attempting to reach the top. Giants were also among them, trying to force their way through the Black Gate, but they were quickly pierced by thousands of small, pointed dragonglass stones. At the same time, the catapults also began firing relentlessly over the Wall, striking the rear of the army.
The number of the dead began to dwindle rapidly, while those on the front lines also continued to fall.
Daemon watched everything from the sky with a certain boredom. In the end, this war against the dead had become rather easy with their numbers and all the preparations they had made.
He looked at his wife, and as soon as their eyes met, she understood the message. The two of them dove with the fire dragons to a point where the army could not reach them with spears and began spewing flames over the dead. Daemon guided Viridrax as he consumed massive portions of the enemy army with dragonfire, and Daenerys mirrored his actions.
The two quickly climbed back into the sky when Daemon noticed the enraged White Walkers preparing spears to throw at them. Once he had dealt with the threat, he ascended once more.
The battle continued for quite some time. Even with thousands, tens of thousands of arrows being fired, along with the catapults, they were still dealing with around two hundred and fifty thousand undead that remained after the wildfire explosion.
At a certain point, the dead realized the attack had failed. They no longer had even one hundred thousand men remaining and quickly began to retreat.
Daemon and Daenerys continued breathing fire over the ranks of the dead while they were still within range. This continued until they finally moved beyond the Wall's defensive reach and attempted to regroup. Even so, around fourteen White Walkers had been destroyed. Although their undead continued to fall, the remaining ones could still be reanimated through necromantic magic.
It was then that a new offensive began. The Black Gate of Castle Black was opened, and ranks of men advanced across the sea of corpses left on the battlefield, quickly spreading throughout the area. Stannis led a cavalry force of around ten thousand men, while everyone else also advanced.
Now the pursuit north of the Wall had begun. The cavalry charged forward, destroying part of the retreating army of the dead. The giants were still somewhat troublesome to deal with if confronted head-on during the cavalry charge, but an archer quickly solved that with nothing more than a small dragonglass wound.
The infantry who had no horses also advanced against the enemy. Now that the army of the dead could no longer advance as before, having to deal with both the cavalry and the flames the dragons unleashed to prevent them from escaping, they were forced to confront the soldiers of Westeros and Yi Ti, who had come on foot.
Quickly, lords and soldiers of Westeros, the Free Folk, the Night's Watch, samurai, and many men from across the sea advanced against the army of the dead, forming a battle line when the enemy had no choice but to attack. As they advanced, they slaughtered the dead with dragonglass spears, while those wielding swords sought to reach the White Walkers.
By this point, the dead, despite their terrifying appearance and the stench of decay, no longer frightened the men of Westeros as much as they had at the beginning. The enemy army was no longer even a shadow of what it had once been.
Daemon managed to eliminate several White Walkers on his own while continuing to fly over the battlefield. Viridrax himself carried several dragonglass spears strapped to his flank. Daemon easily found a good angle and threw them before the White Walkers could react most of the time, catching them by surprise as they exploded into fragments. He killed more than eight of them this way. Whenever he ran out of spears, he returned to the other side of the Wall to replenish his supply.
In any case, he saw the men of Westeros finally managing to engage the White Walkers. Some fools, seeking glory, tried to face them one-on-one, but all they found was certain death. Those who fought them in groups of three or four men were able to kill them, though not without paying a price. Before long, more than ten White Walkers had been slain this way, while their numbers continued to dwindle.
Daemon did not see the Night King or his dragon anywhere, which, in a way, disappointed him and also made him wonder where the supreme necromancer was hiding. Without his death, the dead could never rest in peace.
When the last White Walker fell, Daemon saw everyone celebrating as roars of victory echoed across the sea of the dead. Daenerys landed beside him. She knew her husband was not celebrating. Even so, Daemon raised his sword.
"Very well. Return to the Wall and celebrate, but I want you to quickly search the entire region until you're certain that every White Walker is dead. I will be heading west."
Daemon said this as Stannis nodded along with Jeor Mormont, who had also led the men who had taken part in the battle.
Daemon turned his attention directly to his wife, who simply nodded before following him. They quickly advanced toward where there were still more than one hundred thousand dead and around ten White Walkers leading the remainder of the army.
Seeing the dead in the distance, freezing the water as they began marching across it, Daemon landed alongside his wife.
"I'm going to fight on the ground this time. Remember what I taught you. Stay away from the White Walkers, alright?" Daemon said, while Daenerys remained mounted on her black dragon.
They saw their men bringing a horse for Daemon, as he made his way toward where his uncle, Lord Stark, Benjen, Robb, and the lords of the North were, along with the lords of the Reach, Dorne, and the Vale, as they had gathered to defend the western coast and were waiting for the undead to advance across the frozen sea.
He quickly spoke with the leaders, as there were around fifty thousand cavalrymen and another fifty thousand who would fight on foot as infantry.
The archers were already prepared for the first assault. Around twenty thousand of them waited with their arrows ready. When they saw the first monsters approaching, Daemon mounted his horse and readied Dawnbreaker in his hands, displaying its light to lead his men and strengthen their morale.
The dead began falling one after another under the arrows as they reached that southern section of the Wall. They managed to freeze the area and also charged toward them.
Daemon waited until the right moment. When the archers had to fall back, he gave the order for the cavalry to charge alongside him. Daemon himself would ride alone at the front to drive the rest of the men forward, wielding his sword of light.
Daenerys watched from atop the Wall while numerous archers continued firing arrows from its heights as well. Even so, the dead were still somewhat distant from most of them.
Daemon could have asked Daenerys to shatter the ice, but he did not want to make the battle so easy. He needed to lead the men of Westeros. He needed to show them that the stability of the new Targaryen rule did not rest solely upon dragons. He also needed to demonstrate that he was capable of leading the entire army of Westeros, including former enemies.
He could see that, because of this, he was beginning to create many golden auras among the lords and soldiers, while at the same time suppressing numerous dark and red auras, transforming many of them into neutral auras, which was already excellent. A neutral man was far better than an enemy.
They were beginning to recognize him as a true ruler, someone capable of standing against an evil that threatened everyone.
When the dead began charging toward them, the cavalry finally advanced. Daemon gripped his sword and charged forward with a small group, while the royal cavalry split apart to attack the flanks of the dead. Daemon was the first to break through the ranks of the army of the dead, taking care that his horse would not be stabbed by those monsters.
Immediately, he began using his Thu'um, hurling numerous dead away while the cavalry slashed through the sides of the formation, avoiding being surrounded. If their horses fell in the middle of the army of the dead, it would practically mean the end.
The infantry followed closely behind, piercing the dead with dragonglass spears, while the groups of archers continued firing. At the same time, Daenerys dove from the skies with Nyx, consuming part of the army of the dead with her flames. Viridrax did not even need a rider to know what to do. Daemon merely ordered him to follow his brother, the black dragon, and Daemon's wife, and assist them.
His sword continued cutting through the horde of undead while he unleashed more Thu'ums, setting the dead ablaze or hurling them away, leaving them stunned long enough for the infantry to seize the advantage. Soon, Daemon reached the first White Walkers, facing them head-on without any assistance as he slaughtered them.
In the end, the war against the dead would not last much longer. It had already turned into a massacre, with Daemon leading all of his men from the front.
