A new silence took over the entire atmosphere of Konoha, seemingly hiding everything that had happened up to that moment.
Danzou's head was there, frozen for all to see, with a shocked expression as if he couldn't believe his fate was death.
The place seemed to remain in that state for an eternity, even though no one could hear a single breath among them. Everyone seemed to suffocate the air, and it stayed like that for a while, even if it was only a few seconds.
"You killed him..." Hiruzen murmured.
"Yes." Minato didn't deny it.
"Why did you kill him... I thought you had captured him... You killed a village elder." His face grew darker and darker as his voice came out with more anger. "You dare say all those things about the village after killing one of the elders... This is the same as a coup!!" He roared, while Minato didn't seem surprised by his outburst.
"You more than anyone, Hokage, should know what kind of person Danzou was. After all, he was the one who did the village's dirty work, wasn't he?" Minato said in a calm tone.
There was a chance the village wouldn't change its opinion after he killed Danzou without a proper trial, but that didn't matter — he had to get rid of that plague before it caused more problems. And if the village couldn't see what he saw after he explained his motives for the elder's death, he would abandon the village.
After all, that had been his plan B from the beginning. He wouldn't stay here and would leave Konoha to go to the Uzumaki — and he wouldn't go alone.
The place came back to life with small whispers, ninjas asking questions from all sides.
The Uchiha seemed quite satisfied with Danzou's head in Minato's hand.
Mazu Uchiha had spoken a bit about the information Minato had passed on, including the fact that the elders had been apprentices of the Second Hokage — something very dangerous for the clan — and that the worst elder of them all was Danzou.
Even Fugaku had to look at Minato with respect. Despite past differences, he had moved beyond the issue with Mikoto and was about to marry another Uchiha. After all, it had been over a year since Minato joined the clan, brought everyone to their knees, and killed one of the elders in front of everyone.
Minato watched the Hokage clench his teeth and not answer his questions, so he continued.
"I want to know, Hokage... You know very well all the crimes he committed, your dog almost without a leash... If I had left him alive, you would've tried somehow to save him, and we wouldn't have stood still — a fight that would lead to the deaths of many ninjas here would've broken out, and that was something I had to avoid." Minato said.
"You killed him without a trial!" Hiruzen exclaimed.
"We all know that already, but now I want to prove my point." Minato said calmly to everyone as he simply threw Danzou's head toward the building, where it hit the ground and stopped in front of the last three elders of Konoha.
"He's a murderer! We must stop him! Go!" Koharu suddenly shouted from the side as several ninjas began to prepare, but the vast majority, even on Hiruzen's side, seemed to hesitate.
The Hokage didn't see this in a good light and once again wanted to curse his companions for wanting to turn this discussion into a battle. More than 50 ninjas obeyed that order and ran toward Minato.
"Let's see if I can handle this in a peaceful way." Minato thought, still resorting to conversation, knowing that as soon as a fight started, it would be a bloodbath.
His eyes seemed to shine and, in the next moment, he released a Conqueror's Haki aura spreading in all directions, but focusing directly on the ninjas who were about to attack them.
Everyone felt something strange coming from Minato, it was a strange wind, but no one could tell what it was or even sense it with haki... which was very strange. Something from another world, as was the first thought of many there.
Everyone felt the breeze of wind hitting them, but they didn't feel anything from it, finding it strange, before they started hearing bodies dropping to the ground.
All eyes turned to those 50 ninjas who were under Koharu's command, falling one by one. No one had resisted Minato's spirit.
"Hey, hey! What's happening to them!" Some shouted, running to see if they were still breathing, everyone stunned by what had happened — all the ninjas had suddenly collapsed and all eyes turned back to Minato in surprise, wondering what he had done.
Only those who have the potential to subjugate the entire world will have this power... the power of the sovereign. Minato thought that if everyone knew what that meant, all the nations of the world would now be making every effort to hunt him down and kill him.
Even Tsuna was looking at him from the side, surprised. Kushina kept a calm gaze, already having seen him do this to the Hyuugas. Even without knowing exactly what he was doing there.
"They're alive... just unconscious..." someone said after checking the pulse of one of the 50 fallen ninjas.
"How did he do that, some kind of genjutsu... maybe? How can this be possible..." No one could quite understand what he had done, and Minato liked it that way.
"This will be the last way I spare you. There won't be another time. If you want a real civil war, then let's have it..." Minato spoke again while the Hokage looked at him full of conflicting thoughts, now ignoring Danzou's severed head. Even the other elders seemed to shrink behind the Hokage.
"What do you want to do?" the Hokage asked more cautiously.
"Simple, it's time to prove why I killed Danzou... It's time for the village to understand why I had to cut off his head before he had any chance to live."
"I have proof!" Minato said to everyone this time. The Hokage hadn't answered any of his questions before, so it was time for him to explain to the village why he had done it — they deserved to know.
"Hiruzen... you can't let this continue..." Homura said from the side.
Hiruzen looked at his companion and sighed.
"If we try to do anything... I doubt our ninjas will see it in a good light... It's better to let him go through with this and try to counter-argue..." he said, leaving the two elders with sour faces.
'Besides, we can't defeat him...' Hiruzen mouthed silently, without voice, with his face turned away from Minato's view so he couldn't read it. The two elders and some ninjas who saw the Hokage's lips were stunned.
How could they not be? The Hokage had already been badly injured by the jinchūriki, and Enma had been defeated — he depended heavily on his summoning.
Minato was about to begin, but turned his gaze to the clans that supported him.
"Lord Nara... can you help me here?" Minato asked while giving a glance to Gamabunta, allowing him to come up as well. The chief toad, who was usually grumpy, said nothing.
Shikaku's father climbed up the giant toad and jumped, landing on the head near Minato and Kushina. This was something they had been discussing secretly for a few days — Minato knew his intellect couldn't compare to that of the Nara clan, so he shared his plan with Shuran Nara.
He had revealed his intention to kill the Hokage and knew there could be an assassination attempt on him.
Minato had to show some evidence, knowing that the Nara clan leader wouldn't be convinced easily. He had to expose a bit of his powers and prove he couldn't be killed so easily.
Thus, he gained the trust of the Nara clan leader.
"Thank you for coming to help me, Lord Nara," Minato said.
"For the sake of Konoha, Minato," he replied, knowing some of Danzou's crimes well enough to take a side against Hiruzen.
The Hokage himself had gone to his clan, demanding he stop this madness for the good of Konoha. Shuran listened to the Hokage and gave a diplomatic answer — that they wanted to schedule a meeting the next day, already knowing things would unfold tonight.
The same could be said for the Yamanaka and Akimichi clans, who gave the same response to the Hokage. They had received messages from the Nara clan and already had the scroll from Minato with instructions.
Everyone had been prepared as soon as night fell.
Now they were here, in the end. All the clans that had said they would support Minato, with the exception of the Kurama clan, came to fight with him tonight. Minato could only be grateful and knew that Lord Nara had been behind it all in the end.
No wonder the village seemed so divided in supporting the Hokage when the major clans were all against him. It was something no one could act on without thinking about the consequences. The Hokage might have had the support of the main clans like the Hyuugas, Sarutobi, Shimura, and the Kuramas. But there was no doubt that his position had been challenged tonight, and the Hokage's hat might not stay on his head much longer.
"Let's call a few more people..." Minato declared after Lord Nara nodded, and he formed a seal. In the next moment, two more people appeared in front of them.
"Things seem pretty intense here, Sensei..." Tsunade stepped forward, her gaze falling on everyone — she was the Senju princess, granddaughter of the First Hokage. She had the village's full attention.
But her eyes first went to the girl atop the Katsuyu. Relieved that she was doing quite well.
"You killed Danzou... I feel no pity for that old man," Nawaki suddenly said as he looked at the head near the Hokage.
"Let's begin. It's time for everyone to know who Danzou truly was, and it's better if you and your companions don't try to interfere. You've been hiding too many of your crimes against the people of this village. Many suffered — and all because it was done in the shadows? Because you and your colleagues believed in that... In most cases, you decided who should live or die, who was a threat and who wasn't... There are many victims of yours here today, and they are far from happy about it." Minato began, speaking to the entire village.
"To start with, the position of Hokage is flawed..." he declared. He believed a single man having the power to control the entire village, as the Hokage did, was a flaw. In fact, Konoha lacked proper laws — laws that should even stand above the Hokage.
Laws that prevented the powerful from becoming dictators.
But that was a topic for another time.
"Nawaki, I'm sure it would be good if we started with you and the ninjas who attacked you, causing you to lose your arm in what should've been a certain death," Minato said as he pulled out a scroll, then summoned several bodies dressed like foreign ninjas — but they were Root members.
"Yes, Minato... It's time to tell the truth," Nawaki said, and Minato nodded, looking around at everyone.
"Let's begin with the ambush commanded by Danzou on the young grandson of the First Hokage, from whom he sought the secrets of Hashirama's cells and the Mokuton. He wanted a living member of the Senju clan," Minato began, and a long discussion filled with evidence against Danzou — and even the elders — was about to unfold.
