Charles picked up the cup and took a sip, unexpectedly finding that the juice tasted quite good; although it looked like bitter melon, it wasn't bitter at all—the sweet and sour balance was just right.
He lifted Lily up and placed her beside the drink, where the little mouse clung to the glass cup, gulping it down greedily.
"That's true, these guys have always been risking their lives; death doesn't scare them."
The vendor leaned in close and whispered, "And don't forget this bit, before it was just them facing the constant threat of death, but now everyone in Earth Sea is in the same boat, so they actually feel more balanced in their hearts."
Charles chuckled and said in Chinese, "It's not about scarcity, it's about inequality."
"What did you say?" The vendor was somewhat surprised.
"Nothing much, another cup please, both my mouse and I like your drink." Charles drained the remaining juice in his cup in one go.
