"Let's go in," Shanshan said, pulling a reluctant Nini toward the villa.
"Shanshan, this is someone else's home after all. Is it really okay for us to just walk in?"
"This isn't just any home. This is Bott's house; he lives here."
Nini's eyes widened as she looked at the fancy villa before them, in the Island Heart District. Even as a child, she understood, from what the adults had said, what that meant. "Then why can't he even get enough food to eat?"
Bott seemed very resistant to going home, his face full of grievance, but under Shanshan's forceful pulling, he was brought to the front door.
The tightly shut door was pushed open, and a stench hit them in the face. The room was filled with garbage, and a woman lay sprawled in a heap of trash, surrounded by bottles of alcohol.
"Bott, is this your mother?" Nini asked softly.
The boy with green hair struggled more fiercely, and eventually started crying out of fear.
