Hearing Charles's teasing words, A2 pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, revealing an intellectual smile.

"In the Foundation, whether to disfigure oneself through transformation depends entirely on the individual's needs, not for the sake of transformation itself."

"Just like Mr. Charles, I believe you certainly didn't become this neither-human-nor-ghost figure out of boredom, did you?"

In the reflection of A2's glasses, Charles's current appearance was visible: a jumble of black tendrils sprouting from his neck to his face, the Futan mark that had climbed onto his face, plus various scars—hardly better than the others in the Foundation.

Her calm rebuttal suggested that she wasn't as weak as she appeared. But of course, as a member of the GK Council, A2 was no ordinary person.

However, this was good for Charles—A2 was now on his side, and the more valuable she was, the more useful she could be in destroying the Foundation.
