Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Dialectics

Li Huowang looked up at the Buddha. With the moon at their backs, he couldn't see the faces of these giant figures. He could only see the hands behind them squirming like tentacles and their enormous dark heads. He could also smell the strange mixture of blood and incense wafting from them.

Li Huowang took a few steps back. After glancing around and realizing he was truly alone, he shook his head at the Buddha before him.

"I'm not going," Li Huowang said decisively, his hand reaching behind him to grip the hilt of his sword.

With a creak, the colossal Buddha bent down, blocking the moonlight above Li Huowang's head. An overwhelming pressure surged toward him. Li Huowang could feel the Buddha's eyes, each as big as a lantern, staring right at him from the darkness.

"Amitabha. Benefactor, you should come with us. We're only doing this for your own good," Jiandun said unexpectedly, not attacking but trying to persuade him in a calm tone.
