In a secluded courtyard within the Capital City's Imperial Palace, black and white chess pieces lay scattered across the ground. The only sound was the heavy, ragged breathing of Li Huowang.
As his expression grew more savage, everything around him seemed to spiral out of control, the scenery and the figures within it shifting and warping constantly.
Li Huowang suddenly snapped his head up and glared at the gloomy sky. He roared at the heavens, "Da Nuo! What exactly do you want me to do!"
"I have no other demands! I just want them to live! I just want them to live! Why does it always end like this?! What exactly do you want me to do!"
As Li Huowang roared, thunder rumbled faintly from the distant dark clouds. He continued to scream at the sky, but his unanswered shouts eventually subsided, turning low and sorrowful.
Even during Li Sui's funeral, his mind had been numb. Only now did it finally hit him: Li Sui was dead. She was truly dead. His daughter was never coming back.
