Chapter 2 - Awakening

The Uranus Continent was vast, kingdoms were as common as grains of sand in the dessert, and the competition for expansion was fierce and brutal. Every square inch of the continent was being fought over by an uncountable number of powerful individuals, save for the Stormy Regions. Only those with unimaginable strength had the capabilities to even approach those places. The Stormy Regions were nature's playground, storms constantly ravaged the landscape and extreme temperature changes made it nearly impossible to dwell within. However, a strange event was currently taking place within a particularly dangerous region.

A single tree stood unwavering in the face of a massive lightning storm, shining blue bolts maneuvered through the air and constantly assaulted its top. When the storm reached its peak, the lightning ceased. The atmosphere changed as intense vibrations rattled the earth, and a monstrous bolt pierced through the clouds at unimaginable speeds. Almost instantaneously, the tree vanished. Where it once stood only a massive crater remained. Within the crater there was a man, his body charred beyond repair, but life continued to take hold. Suddenly, he opened his eyes, with this simple gesture a horrifying bloody aura leaked from his gaze. Analyzing his surroundings, his countenance reached terrifying levels of calm. Calculations rapidly took place in his mind as he looked around.

'Where am I? Is this hell? Ha, I thought it'd nicer. But why do I feel pain, why am I still breathing?' The man touched the wound on his chest and memories began to flood his mind. He remembered fighting in a great battle against armies of warriors, only to be fatally wounded in the finale. He remembered the storm and the pendant. At this thought his eyes quickly darted to his hand still tightly gripped onto the necklace. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he gently caressed the engraved words. 'Leia, is this your doing?.'

This wasn't his first time waking up in a strange place, a long time ago something similar happened when he first arrived in the Martial Realm. Before, he was a soldier in the army, having extensive combat training, he adapted quickly and did whatever he could to survive. He would do the same now, the difference being that he was on the verge of death. The only reason he was still alive is that the lightning somehow cauterized his wounds which stopped the bleeding. Having reached the peak of Demonic Arts, his physical resilience had reached superhuman levels, as long as he was still alive there were options at his disposal.

'The only issue is that a fast recovery is impossible at this stage, the only options I have for this level of damage is The Greater Demon Recovery or the taoist's Heavenly Recovery Mystic Art I stole from that monk bastard. The Great Demon Recovery is a heaven defying demonic art that grants life by sacrificing your potential allowing you to achieve complete recovery, the downside is that it permanently damages your foundation, making it much more difficult to advance in the future. It's worth it for smaller wounds as the potential wasted is easily recoverable, for wounds of my caliber however that may be a problem... As for the Heavenly Recovery Mystic Art, from what I can tell, by harmonizing my power core with the rest my body I can sacrifice some of my cultivation to achieve a steady recovery, although I'd lose some power, it wouldn't take me long to gain it back considering my talent.'

While The Heavenly Demon was silently lying within the crater, a great distance away a person draped in a thick cloak was rapidly heading in his direction.
