Chapter 708 - Grade V

Proofread by Thomas F

"Fuck me!" I cursed with a shuddering heart.

I had prayed with all my heart that it wouldn't happen, but it did. The Grade IV monster had come.

Even with the aura active, I felt a sense of suppression from its presence. It took me a moment to get my emotions under control, and I looked at Lord Kadyz.

Only to see that he is looking at me, with the same emotion as I am.

Our eyes stilled for a moment before we nodded at each other and moved forward. Since we have entered the battlefield, we should fight till the end.

We do not have any hope of killing a Grade V monster. Even Ignatius wasn't able to kill it.

It's very hard, even with the artifacts, but we could defend well and make it frustrating enough for the monsters that they would give up.

Though a lot of it would depend on Commander Wildewood and his army, he needs to kill enough monsters to make the leader give up, so we will try to hold it here.

That would be very hard, and I am prepared to run away, but even that would be very challenging. Nevertheless, I do not want to walk away.

If I did, that monster would crush through everything and destroy the whole city.

I will fight as long as I can.

I moved forward, and this time, no monster had attacked me. They avoided me, knowing it would be their boss who would be dealing with them.

They have turned all their focus on the wall. They want to tear it apart and enter the city.

Hun!

I had reached near the end of the monster tide when I felt an aura.

It isn't the activation, but an awakening. Someone had awakened it. My first thought was that someone on the wall had done it, but it came from much further away.

At the fort.

I wonder who it is. If it had been my city, I would have been told instantly.

A moment later, I found out, and a smile couldn't help but appear on my face, but it turned sombre when I focused back on the powerful presence approaching us fast.

The awakening is good news, but it won't help us against the monster that's coming toward us.

Soon, I got out of the monster tide and looked at the monster coming toward us from a distance.

"It might kill us," said Lord Kadyz as he appeared beside me. "It might, but you have an artifact that will give you a better chance of survival," I replied to the man.

"And you have aura," he added, making me smile.

Though a moment later, a surprise appeared on his face. So, has mine.

"It's going to be very dangerous, Lady Blackwell," warned Lord Kadyz as Lady Blackwell appeared beside us. "Yes, but it's my army and my citizens behind the wall. I have to protect them," she replied.

He wanted to say something, but closed his mouth and turned to the monster.

Lady Blackwell had experience of battle; in her younger days, she had joined the army, but that was nearly four decades ago.

Lord Kadyz didn't say anything further and looked ahead.

Hun!

A moment later, I felt the spells on me. An Armor of wines appeared, and greenish energies covered me, giving different enhancements.

These are Grade IV spells that the artifact had enhanced.

Seconds passed, and finally, the monster appeared in front of us. There are only a few hundred meters between, but it won't take the beast much to reach us despite its size.

"Birkax Bear; careful of the crystal on its head," warned Lord Kadyz.

It is a Bear Monster, the size of an adult elephant, with thick as tree arms and legs. It had a dark, brownish-red coat and large, white claws that were sharp enough to tear us apart.

My focus is on the fist-sized gem on its head, which is the thing we will need to be most careful about.

Every part of it is dangerous. I couldn't engage with it directly. Given its size and power, it will tear me apart or throw me like a cannonball.

Roar!

It roared with such intensity that it shook the earth, and the red crystal on the head shone.

A moment later, a large beam of fire came toward us. It's fast and powerful, comparable to a Grade V spell. Defending it would be hard.

The beam is coming toward Lord Kadyz, who is in the middle.

As it did, a green beam shot toward it, while walls of wood began to appear. At the same time, leafy thorny vines came out of the ground and moved to wrap around the bear.

Roar!

Lady Blackwell acted, casting a spell after a spell, making mad as it roared again, while Lord Kadyz moved to avoid it.

Bam Bam Bam!

The beam tore through the green beam and wooden walls, burning them to ashes, before reaching Lord Kadyz.

I am shocked to see it. I shouldn't be, I knew it. It was in the monster's information, but still.

The beam was locked on him, and it followed him.

It couldn't follow sharp turns, but it could make small changes in its path, and with its speed, it makes massive changes.

Bam!

Immediately, that sword turned into a shield and defended itself.

He succeeded, but got pushed back. Even after the power of the beam was weakened by the spells of Lady Blackwell and him defending with the artifact.

So, one could imagine how powerful an attack must be.

Roar!

The monster roared and released another beam, this time at Lady Blackwell.

'Don't worry about me!' she said, and I felt her move extremely fast. It is just an enhanced Haste Spell, but also likely her skill as well.

I am worried about her, but I couldn't go to help her. I need to worry about myself as the damn bear is coming toward me.

Finally, I moved to a new place, where there are only a hundred meters between us. This time, I didn't hold back at all.

I pushed every bit of aura I have into Blitz Steps and moved.

I can move fast when I use aura, even stone couldn't match my speed. He is close, but not there. The only one who leaves me in the dust is Bell.

I cannot match her.

The bear is fast, despite its massive size, but I am slightly faster, but that didn't stop it from coming after me.

It's why I'm running toward the hills; the further it is from the battlefield, the better it will be.

I could see that Lady Blackwell was helping with Wooden Walls, Sharp Roots, and Coiling Vines, but it crushed through them all.

Seeing that, I pushed myself to run even faster. So, it is the monster. The more we try to stop it, the angrier it gets.

Making it run faster.

It is when the core crystal at the top of its head shone brightly. A moment later, a long red beam came toward me, while the Bear turned toward Lord Kadyz.

I am worried for him, but I have to deal with the scarlet beam that is coming at me, burning through all the wooden walls and everything else.

It had launched from close distance, so I couldn't even take a sharp turn to avoid it.

If it did, it would slow me down, and it would kill me, since it had already reached me. Seeing that it had left me with no choice.

I activated the Velvet Repel and pushed as much aura as I could into it before turning back.

Bam!

It crashed against the beam, and I felt the immense shock that it had nearly sent me stumbling.

Puch!

I was barely able to stabilise myself before vomiting the blood. The shock was immense, shaking my spirit and physically injuring me.

It had stopped the attack, but it didn't make me happy.

I could feel how close the attack was breaking through the Velvet Repel. If it had been 10% stronger or Lady Blackwell hadn't whittled its power, it would have breached through it.

I turned to Lord Kadyz and saw the monster reaching him. Lady Blackwell is using spells to slow it down and stop it, but nothing is working.

There are a few injuries on the monster, but they are not serious and are healing fast.

Bam!

The bear's large claws clashed against the amber stone shield. It defended, but like me, it made Lord Kadyz vomit.

The next moment, the beam shot out of its head, and before the claw hit again, making him shake and vomit once more.

Lady Blackwell attacked, but it just swatted the attacks away before attacking Lord Kadyz.

Lord Kadyz is likely at the same level as me, with a powerful Lord Class and artifact, but this monster is both physical and elemental type, and counters the artifact.

Still, Lord Kadyz is defending against it, and it is a big deal.

The monster is a Grade V monster, which is Lv. A 40 and above monster with immense physical strength and elemental attack is as powerful as a Grade V spell.

Surviving against such an enemy is a daunting task, and he is doing it, but considering his current state, it won't last long.

I remained watching for a moment before gritting my teeth and moving toward the monster. I shouldn't do this, it is extremely risky, but if this continues, the man won't survive for long.

So, I moved, activating the Lord's Presence and focusing on the monster, before pouring the aura into it.

It only glanced at me before resuming attacking Lord Kadyz.

The dumb monster is smart enough to understand the threat of the artifact. More than that, it had caught the prey and would not let it leave until it finished it.

Unfortunately, we are not strong enough to do anything about it.

Lady Blackwell's spells are hitting it, but not doing enough damage. Those that are a threat to it are swatting away with powerful claws, before focusing back on the Lord Kadyz.

'Lord Silver, be careful,' warned Lady Blackwell. 'I will, but support me,' I replied.

It is suicide to go near it, but there is no other choice. After it finishes with him, it will come for us, and then the army and citizens, including my men who are fighting.

I can't let that happen; we must stop it!

Hun!

I reached close to it and was about to attack, when I felt another awakening.

I didn't even look at it. I focused on the monster and Lord Kadyz. He is in grave danger; he won't be able to keep defending for long.

He needs help and needs it quickly.
