Chapter 438 - Chapter 438: 1 Million (4)

(That's all for today folk. Again, do check out my new fic. It's called That 70s Hustle. Thanks)

[General POV]

-Jenna and Red Menace Patrol-

"She's going SouthWest." R.M told Jenna using the earpiece. "Cut her off and block her there."

"Are you purposely letting me catch her cause I kept whining?" Jenna asked with annoyance as she ran through the crowd. She dashed and jumped over a 5 meter tall wall.

"Yes." R.M said casually. "Otherwise I'll keep hearing, (mockingly) 'I don't have anything to do, you're doing everything, I hate you but I secretly love you'."

"I NEVER SAID THAT LAST PART!" Jenna shouted in annoyance and landed in front of the cloaked girl.

"Give it up Flamingo." Jenna put her hands around her waist and said using a heroic voice.

"Fuck." Flamingo cursed. "I didn't even do anything," She prepared her power while pretending in front of Jewel– the pink wig and pink spandex superhero.

Jenna pointed her finger at Flamingo and said, "You broke several couples already. I wanted to hire you initially as I'd like to use your service, but you have to go to the detention center now. I can't let you ruin Edward Newgate's concert."

She scoffed and said, "That fucking pretender? He's a fuckboy, do you know that? All he cares about is putting his dick into some pussy. He didn't care about them."

"Huh?" Jenna was taken aback. "Wait, did you sleep with him?" She asked carefully, trying to peek under her mask.

"Nope. But I don't have to do it to know what kind of person he is." Flamingo suddenly threw a pink ball to Jenna's face.

Distracted by her earlier words, Jenna couldn't dodge and it hit her right on the face.

However, nothing happened to her. Jenna was worried and she touched her face frantically to check if there's any damage.

"Huh? What was that?" Jenna asked in confusion. "You bitch." She clenched her fist and walked menacingly towards the masked girl.

The girl was startled and she cowered slightly. "Are you going to surrender or not?" Jenna asked.

"O-Okay! I'll surrender!" The girl said quickly. Jenna smiled and put some ordinary handcuffs on the girl.

R.M hopped from the roof nearby and landed smoothly next to them. "Good Job Pinky."

"Jewel! My name is Jewel-"

The Flamingo girl smirked and suddenly attacked R.M next. The burst of pink energy brushed his face and disappeared.

"Hmm… Pheromones amplifier?" R.M managed to guess her powers almost immediately. "You make people more impulsive, lose their rationality, and even get back to their base animalistic tendency huh? Unfortunately, it's not going to work on me–"

Before R.M could finish, Jenna grabbed him and pulled his head close to hers.

"Oh ffff–"

Jenna kissed his lips over the mask, which stopped him from speaking. Flamingo cackled loudly and started running, but Edward pointed his gun at her sideway and shot a neutralizer bullet.

It hit her back and made her lose consciousness immediately. Jenna however, was a bit more troublesome.

"I know behind the mask is a hot guy." She pushed the mask upwards, revealing parts of R.M's lips.

R.M was startled and grabbed her wrist quickly, stopping her.

"Jenna, snap out of it." R.M said seriously.

She grinned and grabbed his hand, putting it on her chest. "What's the matter big boy? You don't want to have some of this?" She said tauntingly, with a mischievous grin on her face.

"I thought you have a thing for Newgate?" R.M asked with amusement.

She smiled excitedly and said, "Yeah! I do. But right now, I want to do… you!"

Her hand moved quickly as she reached for his crotch. Edward was quite troubled as he was studying the effect in his mind while fighting off her animalistic advances.

'I tried dispelling it with magic. It didn't work. Nor does chakra detoxification. The hormones affect her brain, like a drunken state. Would there be an adverse effect if she didn't get what she wanted?'

Edward suddenly widened his eyes and shook his head slightly. 'Wait. Am I affected by it too? Why do I have the thought of just doing her to stop her?'

He grabbed her arms and turned her around. Instead of stopping, Jenna pushed her butt on his lap, and began grinding heavily.

"Maybe I should put her to sleep? Sleep will help with hormone regulation. I think this is the best choice for now."

Edward also noticed the sudden increase of strength in Jenna's muscles. It was like the pheromones took off her limiters.

If her target was an ordinary person, they would've already gotten ripped to shred by her amazonian strength. Although for some people, death by Snu-Snu wasn't a bad thing. In fact, they welcomed it.

Edward puts her to sleep using his sharingan and opens up a portal to the superhero compound. He put her in the rest room and went back to the alley and brought the Flamingo to the detention center.

"Her power is too dangerous." He injected her with a purple coloured, esper power neutralizing fluid. When she woke up, she wouldn't have her powers anymore.

Edward glanced at the sleeping esper detainee and picked up one of them. He stared at him with his sharingan and said menacingly, "I don't want to play anymore now that Jewel is not around. Who is your leader? And where can I find them?"

At the concert arena. Jacob continuously begged his girlfriend.

"Babe, I didn't mean it. It happens suddenly!"

Elsa crossed her arms together, giving Jacob the death glare. Enid wiped her mouth with a disinfecting wet wipe furiously, gagging as she remembered what just happened.

"Ugh. Why did I make out with Jacob?" She muttered, looking at Jacob with a betrayed and suspicious eyes. "What did you do to me?"

"No– Nothing! I really didn't do anything! I'm a victim too!" Jacob yelled, but no one trusted his words.

The sky darkened. Edward went backstage to prepare for his performances.

"5 more minutes. You're going to start it with a duet, right?" Pepper asked.

"Yeah, I'll get on stage with Taylor, so the transition will be going smoothly." Edward replied.

Pepper nodded and barked orders with his head piece. "The main attraction is going to come in people. Prepare for the stage fireworks."

Edward looked on stage where Taylor was performing. He enjoyed her songs amongst the crowd before, but right now, Taylor wanted to unveil a new song.

"What kind of song will it be?" Edward smiled in intrigue. His eyes flickered with realization, "I didn't know she'd written another one… Wait, am I a lousy boss?"

Beside him, Pepper agreed with his words immediately. "Yes."

Edward was shocked.

Annie suddenly appeared and rebuked Pepper, "He just has a lot of things to do. I'm sure if you take 20 CEOs and give them Edward's workload, they would still try to add 20 more to barely even manage to do it."

"Annie! I'm just joking." Pepper said with exasperation. He looked around and asked with confusion, "Where did you even come from? Did you hide in the shadows?"

Edward laughed slightly.

On stage, after finishing her songs from her earlier albums, Taylor glanced at the backstage entrance and saw Edward standing there.

She smirked mischievously with her bright red lips, the stage lights catching on the messy, choppy bangs that framed her face.

Her hair had been rough-textured on purpose, the kind of wild styling she used for her new song, with streaks of color running through the ends.

Taylor wasn't dressed like the polished country star she used to be. Tonight she wore a loose, worn-in T-shirt tucked into faded jeans, the whole look effortless and a little rebellious.

Heavy black eyeliner sharpened her eyes under the lights, giving her that fierce, restless edge she used in the new era she was about to unveil.

"For my next performance, I'm going to sing something from my next album. It's called, "I Knew You Were Trouble". It's about my enjoyable mistake with a guy I like, that I probably won't ever try to repeat again. Enjoy!"

A ripple of excitement moved through the crowd, a wave of shouts and squeals everywhere.

The stage lights dropped to near-darkness, leaving only a thin red glow tracing the edge of the platform.

A low, electronic hum rolled out of the speakers—something unfamiliar, sharp and modern, nothing like the country-pop sound the audience knew her for.

Fans lifted their phones, some cheering, some stunned. A few girls in the front row grabbed each other's arms, already screaming because they could feel something big coming.

The bass began to pulse underneath the silence, slow at first—boom… boom… boom—like a heartbeat preparing to sprint.

She sang with a slight pause between her short sentences.

"♫♪ Once upon a time. A few mistakes ago. I was in your sights. You got me alone. You found mee~ You found mee~ You found me-e-e-e-e~ ♫♪"

She pointed at the crowd, but her eyes were glancing backstage, seemingly looking at Edward.

Edward just smiled in amusement, which irked her greatly.

"♫♪ I guess you didn't care. And I guess I liked that. And when I fell hard. You took a step back. Without me~ Without me~ Without me-e-e-e-e~ ♫♪"

She walked on top of the platforms, away from the center stage to the north side of the venue. Vanessa walked to the south before, and Eminem went east.

She crooned, "♫♪And he's long gone! When he's next to me! And I realize… The blame is on me. ♫♪"

The beat dropped. The audience cheered in excitement.

"♫♪ 'Cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in ♫♪"

"♫♪ So shame on me now– Flew me to places I'd never been. 'Til you put me down, oh! I knew you were trouble when you walked in! ♫♪

"♫♪So, shame on me now– Flew me to places I'd never been♫♪"

She kneeled on the floor, belting out, "♫♪Now I'm lyin' on the cold hard ground! ♫♪"

The beat dropped, and the entire stadium shook.

The fans cheered wildly as they saw her image on the big screen. Her passionate look was unlike anything she ever did before.

"♫♪Oh, oh ♫♪"

"♫♪Trouble, trouble, trouble♫♪"

"♫♪Oh, oh♫♪"

"♫♪Trouble, trouble, trouble♫♪"

Edward scoffed, slightly amused.

Taylor stood back up and walked haughtily. "♫♪No apologies. He'll never see you cry. Pretends he doesn't know. That he's the reason why♫♪"

"♫♪You're drowning. You're drowning. You're drowning~~♫♪"

Inside her mind, Taylor reminisced about the time she was together with Edward.

'We had a really shallow relationship, she thought secretly. 'We did nothing except have sex, yet… I… fell for him deeply.'

Like a knot in her chest was untangled, she continued singing.

"♫♪And I heard you moved on. From whispers on the street. A new notch in your belt. Is all I'll ever be. And now I see~ Now I see~ Now I see-e-e-e-e~♫♪"

♫♪ He was long gone! When he met me~ And I realised …♫♪" She said seriously, "♫♪ The joke is on me.♫♪" She hyped herself again with a short shouted, "♫♪HEY♫♪"

She remembered the first time she saw him. In the recording room as he was recording his first song.

And she kept thinking to herself. What if she never went there? What if they didn't meet earlier, but they meet each other at this moment?'

"♫♪I knew you were trouble when you walked in (oh). So shame on me now. Flew me to places I'd never been. 'Til you put me down, oh♫♪"

She remembered the good times they had in multiple exotic places he flew her to while he was on tour.

"♫♪I knew you were trouble when you walked in! So shame on me now! Flew me to places I'd never been, yeah!"

She belted again, "♫♪Now I'm lyin' on the cold hard ground♫♪"

The choir took over as she greeted some fans.

"♫♪Oh, oh (yeah)! Trouble, trouble, trouble♫♪"

She picked up the mic again and joined the choir, "♫♪Oh, oh! Trouble, trouble, trouble♫♪"

She paused abruptly. The arena became hushed as she sang the bridge.

"♫♪And the saddest fear. Comes creepin' in♫♪"

She clenched her hand holding the mic tightly. "♫♪That you never loved me. Or her. Or anyone. Or anything~ Yeah!!!♫♪"

As the chorus dropped again, Taylor walked unapologetically and continued her attack on her ex boyfriend.

"♫♪I knew you were trouble when you walked in! So shame on me now

Flew me to places I'd never been (never been)♫♪!"

♫♪'Til you put me down, oh! I knew you were trouble when you walked in (knew it right there)! So shame on me now (knew it right there)♫♪"

Selena danced with the song, but Ness was a bit worried about Edward.

"He will feel really bad about the bridge part." Ness muttered. "I hope he's okay."

"♫♪Flew me to places I'd never been! (Ooh) now I'm lyin' on the cold hard ground!♫♪"

Like Ness expected, Edward was taking it slightly personal. He lost his smile and was sitting there expressionlessly.

Pepper was taken aback and Annie too. The staff around became uncomfortable and felt like they were walking on eggshells as it was the first time ever they saw his face like that.

Taylor belted out, "♫♪Oh, oh♫♪"

"♫♪ Trouble, trouble, trouble (oh)♫♪"

"♫♪Oh, oh♫♪"

"♫♪Trouble, trouble, trouble♫♪"

"♫♪I knew you were trouble when you walked in♫♪"

As the song ended, the crowd cheered thunderously. Taylor smiled at the crowd, feeling quite satisfied.

"Edward, you're alright?" Pepper asked worriedly.

"Huh? Yeah Peps. I'm alright. I'm not that weak to be bothered by something like that." Edward replied with a slight edge in his tone.

"You're, a little bit." Pepper exposed him.

Edward paused for a second and said, "Alright, a little bit."

On stage, Taylor talked to the crowd in a friendly manner. "It's time for my last song."

"Noo!" A few voices shouted here and there.

"I'm sure you all know the song I'm singing next." She smirked and signalled the band.

Then, a piano intro started.

[Ashe - Moral of the Story feat. Niall Horan]

The crowd went ballistic when they heard the intro. They recognized it from the pandemic song album.

The choir began to sing.

"♫♪ Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh! Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh ♫♪"

Taylor picked up her microphone again after taking a short rest and sang, "♫♪ So, I never really knew you. God, I really tried to. Blindsided, addicted. ♫♪"

She walked to the center stage again and sat on the chair there.

"♫♪ Thought we could really do this. But really, I was foolish. Hindsight, it′s obvious. ♫♪"

Lily, the fan club president squealed in excitement. "He's going to come out soon!"

"Boy, you really don't care about Taylor huh?" Her friend asked.

"Not since she just attacked my idol." Lily said viciously. "She's our enemy from now on."

Unaware of the fandom war she just started, Taylor continued, "♫♪ Talking with my lawyer, She said, "Where'd you find this guy?" I said, "Young people fall in love

With the wrong people sometimes~" ♫♪"

She sang the chorus, "♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay.

You can think that you're in love. When you′re really just in pain♫♪

"♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay. In the end, it′s better for me. That's the moral of the story, babe ♫♪"

As the choir sang the hook, Edward walked onto the stage in simple clothing. A tank top and brown khaki. He slicked his hair back and held the microphone with a smile.

"♫♪(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh) (Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)♫♪"

The crowd went fanatical when they saw him again. With a slight wave, almost 1 million people screamed his name.

They quitened down quickly as he started singing, "♫♪It′s funny how a memory

Turns into a bad dream. When running wild turns volatile♫♪"

Edward placed his hand on Taylor's left shoulder and ran it to her right one.

Taylor was a bit taken aback by it, but played along with a smile and a light hand touch.

"♫♪ It's not funny how it changes. Ended up like strangers. We burned down a paper house ♫♪"

Taylor almost raised an eyebrow, but she kept her face clear.

'If people started talking about how I attacked him, let it be clear, he made this song first!' She harrumped inwardly.

"♫♪ Talking with your father. He said that you could be mine. But some people fall in love. With the wrong people sometimes~ ♫♪"

Edward's melodic voice transported the audience. It calmed their energy, and healed their spirit.

Edward grabbed Taylor's hand and guided her to stand up. He faced her and sang, "♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay. You can think that you're in love. When you′re really just in pain♫♪"

Taylor was really taken aback by it as it wasn't in the plan. He was supposed to walk to the side of the stage, and her the other side. But facing him face to face, she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.

Edward continued singing, and his voice invoked emotions in his fans.

"♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay. In the end, it′s better for me. That's the moral of the story, babe ♫♪"

They felt like their heart was crushed. Edward's melancholic eyes added to the vibe as he stared at Taylor longingly.

The choir sang the hook again as Edward and Taylor held hands.

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

Alex muttered, "What the hell is he doing?"

Finneas sighed and said, "He's improvising maybe."

Taylor and Edward looked into each other's eyes as they harmonized during the bridge part.

"♫♪ They say it′s better to have loved and lost♫♪"

"Why am I thinking about my exes during this bridge?" Phil muttered to himself.

♫♪Than never to have loved at all♫♪

Elsa turned to Jacob who was still depressed and said, "Fine. I'll forgive you… for now."

Jacob brightened up and hugged her tightly, picking her up from the ground.

♫♪That could be a load of shit♫♪

Edward made a playful face. Taylor was a bit pissed as she felt he was saying that to her previous song.

♫♪But I just need to tell you all ♫♪

Taylor let go of Edward's hand and moved to the side of the stage. She kept looking at him and sang the chorus again.

"♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay.

You can think that you're in love. When you′re really just engaged ♫♪

Edward went to the other side and sang the rest of the chorus, "♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay. In the end, it′s better for me. That's the moral of the story, babe ♫♪"

They harmonized again, "♫♪Some mistakes got made. That′s alright, that's okay.

You can think that you're in love. When you′re really just in pain♫♪

Taylor added some improvisational vocalisation to the ending. She belted out some notes, and Edward kept harmonizing with her.

"♫♪Some mistakes get made. That′s alright, that's okay. In the end, it′s better for me. That's the moral of the story, babe ♫♪"

A ball of fire suddenly went up the night sky.

*BOOM*

A huge firework grabbed everyone's attention.

♫♪(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh) Taylor belted out, " you can think that you're in love♫♪"

The choir took over as they both enjoyed the firework.

♫♪(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)

(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)♫♪

The song's outro went on for a while as the fireworks went off. Edward and Taylor stared at each other, not taking their eyes off one another as the lights of the fireworks reflected on their bodies.
