Lamps enchanted with everlight flames cast a warm, golden glow across the cobblestone paths, and the distant sounds of haggling, laughter, and music filled the air.
Compared to the leisurely way they had explored the city during the day, August, Vanne, and Larcade walked very briskly out of it. Their pace was urgent, their expressions focused. They had what they came for—the Tempest Sovereign's Mantle—and now they needed to leave before anyone could make a move against them.
Apart from those who had proper authorization by the city's management, the use of sorcery here—especially destructive sorceries—was prohibited.
