Chapter 5 - Yes or yes?

"W-what was that?"

The stranger stared at me and sighed. He removed his black suit, letting me show his sexy waist with that black polo tuck on his pants. Folding his sleeves until his elbow, he started doing something on his kitchen counter as I watched.

I was too frozen, too petrified and the next thing I knew I was already at his home. It doesn't even felt like home. The whole place looks like a haunted mansion. It's dark and engravings are scattered over the wall like I'm in some gothic cult.

I also have no idea how in the world I am already dressed decently right now. Just a loose shirt and shorts.

"I told you already, you killed that guy," His deep voice echoed throughout the empty house. He said that as if it doesn't even matter. He started chopping some vegetables on the counter. "Consider that your first mission. It was a success. Congratulations."

What mission is he talking about? I felt like my mind would burst anytime with what just happened tonight.

I-I just killed a man.

"I k-killed him, right?" I stared at my hands and they started to tremble with so much fear as soon as the realization dawn at me. "s-should I turn myself at the p-police? W-what did I even d-do? I s-swear I didn't do anythin-"

"Calm down." He placed a glass of juice in the table that cut my train of thoughts. Is that even a juice, it's all green.

"You didn't kill a human," He sat across me, his hands clasped. "He's a vampire."

Vampire. I saw that in movies. With fangs, red eyes, attractive faces-

"H-he's a vampire?!" I stood up on my seat, something eerie crawling in my skin. I immediately sat down the moment I saw him gazing at me sharply. "I-is that even real? You...You're one of them, too right?"

There was a long silence and the way he was staring at me made me uncomfortable so I avoided his gaze.

"Yes, I am one of them. But I'm a half blood. Bitten. A victim of those dead ghouls."

Dead ghouls?

He crossed his legs and stared at me like a lowly creature. He has that kind of domineering aura around him. "Don't worry, you didn't kill him because his basically dead."

I can't help but flinch every time I hear his deep voice as if coming from a pit.

"You mean I killed him for the second time? Like d-double dead?"

He stared at me like he was judging my whole existence.

"Anyway, I'm going to make an offer."

My whole mind is in turmoil right now, and I don't know if I'm dreaming or am I in drugs and yet this man here still has the guts to make an offer?!

"Work for me."

There was firmness in his voice that made my forehead creased. "What do you mean?"

"Be my poison. Kill those monsters to stop them from spreading."

"Are you nuts? How am I going to kill them? I don't even know how to wield a knife properl-"

"Your kind is a poison to us. Your blood, specifically. We call you the Banes. Existed with the purpose to kill vampires."

Bane. I heard him saying that which made Thorn fear me.

"Thousand of years ago the Banes emerged to stop the vampires from spreading. That's why they haven't got control over the world yet. But it's only a matter of time. Banes are decreasing since the vampires hunted them."

"And you want me to kill them when you know they will hunt me?!" If only I could throw him the glass with weird juice on it I would have.

"The first time you saw that jerk, you felt heavily attracted right?"

I flinched when he asked that. The truth is yes, but I don't want to admit it. I'm still ashamed of how I acted before.

"Silence means yes." His deep voice whispered. He leaned on the sofa and stared at me as if he could read my mind.

"We feel the same way, too. We are heavily attracted to Banes which will make your job a lot easier. All you need to do is seduce them and give them a bite. The marks will heal by the way." He pointed at my neck and I immediately touched it.

He's right. I could no longer feel the marks Thorn gave me. Do I also have some kind of healing ability?

"T-thorn told me I will change. Will I become a vampire too? O-or I won't because the mark disappeared?"

"You can never be a vampire. Your blood shields you no matter how many bites you get."

"Still, I won't said yes with the offer." I annoyingly grunted.

"But you will."

How come he's so confident that I'll agree with him just like that? My life's already a living hell and I don't want to attract more bad luck than this.

"I'll let you stay here, give you proper clothes, feed you-"

"Still no." I said cutting him off.

He took a deep breath as if his patience are already nearing its limits. "And give you thrice the amount that club is paying you."

I almost choke with my own saliva.

"C-come again?"

"Thrice the amount, I said." He mumbled. "Don't you think this is a better option? You get to run away from that club and avoid those ugly men wanting to lay you in bed. You'll-"

"It's still the same," I said bitterly. "I still need to sacrifice my body just to live."

There was a deafening silence before he tried to speak again.

"At least it will be less painful."

"What?"

"Unlike humans, vampires cannot give you any kinds of diseases, they cannot impregnate you nor give you a painful and hard time. And mostly..." He halted as if the words were stuck in his throat.

"You will enjoy it, too. Their kind is very attractive." He said, almost a whisper.

"You're telling me all of this as if you're not one of them."

"I am different." He said each word with great emphasis. I think his hatred for the vampires really runs deep.

"But still," I cleared my throat, lean at the sofa and cross my legs to mimick him.

I took the glass of juice he offered me. "I won't say yes even if the pay is high. Even if I get to hook up with handsome boys, even if I get to enjo-" I immediately put the glass away when I tasted it. It was so bitter! Is that even food?!

Then he suddenly leaped on the table and the next thing I knew he was on top of me, laying at the sofa.

"I shouldn't have resorted to this if you weren't so stubborn," His deep voice send shiver down my spine. His red eyes that were gazing back at me made me gulp nervously, and as soon as he cupped my face I felt sexually attracted again.

Using his thumb, he wiped my lips before giving me a gentle kiss. I couldn't help but respond, pushing his head closer and I twirled my tongue with his to remove that bitter taste lingering in my mouth.

He tasted so sweet.

"So," He mumbled, breathing heavily after our kiss. "Is it a yes or yes?"
